Getting the same thing today.. BEWARE.. They are still out there trying this. I think becuase the government is out there with somany projects they are sure to get someone who has been waiting on a payment from an agency... Be aware - they will never ask for any information in this way. You have already been veted if oyu are currently doing business with or for the government.

Thanks to all your comments, my suspicion was right so thank you all. Always research before you give any information that gives access to your accounts for sure!!!

We are a small Landscaping Company in Southern California and DID receive a fax from Equifax; unfortunately we were waiting for a Government Project to send us information asking bank verification in order for us to be paid on a job just completed; we sent the information to fax 202-652-4312 thinking it was a request on behalf of them. This morning the owner of our company was contacted by his/her bank that there was a faxed request to sweep the checking account that was referenced in the Equifax fax; the monies were to be transferred to BANK OF NEW YORK, NEW YORK, ONE WALL STREET, NEW YORK, NY 10286 USA but actually 27 Kalanchaevskaya, Moscow, Russia. The bank we do business with contacted the owner of our company before releasing the money. Lesson Learned...don't be too busy to verify....

Just received the same letter today. However, the fax number was 202-652-4319. Letter signed George Larsen, Senior Credit Analyst at Equifax showing one of my SIC codes Custom Computer Programming Services and advising me that in order to be eligible to provide these services I needed to send them my Bank name and Operating Account. An obvious scam, but someone/anyone could easily be sucked into mking a grievous error if not paying attention, or if just a little too trusting/gullible.

Yes, we also received this fishy fax but thanks for all your comments and alerts posted we did not fill out the form and informed our manager about this fraud.
Be also aware of e-mails send from "UPS" and the "Post offce" with supportly a package that could not be deliver due to wrong address, because of the e-mail they have an attachment which contains a virus.

We received a fax today at my work. We thought it was bogus so I decided to look it up and sure enough it is. They said they needed this info as it is required by the government to continue doing business with us. We manufacture parts for the Deparment of Defense. They even stated that a government agency has requested our credit rating and that is why we need to do this. Truth is the governement has absolutely no problems with contacting us directly when they want something.
The fax itself really looks legit. It has the Equifax name, logo and correct address on it. The fax number to return the info is 202-652-4312. The fax is signed by George Larson Senior Credit Analyst.
If you get a fax like this, just trash it.

Also received a fax claiming to be from Equifax. We will not be filing this out. BTW, on the fax sheet, it reads their fax number is 202-652-4312 and their address is PO Box 740241, Atlanta, GA 30374.

Did not receive a phone call, but received a letter by fax with this return fax number iin the letter. They said they were with EQUIFAX and requested authorization for them to contact the bank for information. This looked fishy to me so I checked with EQUIFAX. There is a Security Warning on the EQUIFAX website - This did not come from them. It is a scam . Do not give out any information. Your bank account will be empty!!!
