I just got a similar phone call and after I hung up the phone I reported them to the FBI and FTC. Names:Teressa Walker 202.621.02789 and Nick Richard 202.621.0270. $10,000 grant for a donation to UNICEF of $250. Why is no one reporting them to higher authorities and preventing them from stealing from our family, friends, neighbors, elderly, children, etc.? Posting to a blog is not enough! Report them!

I also just got this call from 202-657-5284, a middle eastern guy named Roy H. Same old scam, I've been selected for a $7,000 grant. I didn't let him go further before I asked for a call back number and told him I'd call back.
No fool 2012-08-24 16:10:03 Unknown
Tried to use this on my daughter. Are people really falling for this scam? Send money for a grant from the government. HAHAHA. The government is broke. What a load of garbage.

I got two calls back 2back i was happy at first for the 7000 dollars until they were asking for my 200 dollars and Justin had just told me it was for unemployed people so i don't have 200 dollars to lose im glad i google the number like my mom say if it sound to good to be true believe it.
TA 2012-07-23 19:29:04 Unknown
all i wanna know is how do they know where i live and my date of birth??
TA 2012-07-23 19:12:50 Unknown
i also got called on june 19 and today and got that same grant ID #. and they also told me to deposit $200 at a western union. total scam if they are giving the same grant ID "personal" number.
rc 2012-07-20 17:09:56 Unknown
They also call me that me and 5000 others were choice to receive a grant for 7000 dollars just have to call this number and give them the confirmation # and i can get the money. But I think their a chants behind it
Ricmsr1 2012-07-18 18:41:33 Unknown
If you don't mind the cussing and some obcene comments, i would suggest flooding them with calls like im doing right now....just waste their time. Until they cant stand it anymore. there's not much else we can do.

Same thing....claimed I had been chosen to receive a $7,000 grant to be used to "stabalize my finances" but not to be used for anything illegal such as drugs or terrorist activities....didn't get to the part of a $200 dollar verification fee. i told him my phone was dying and i needed him to hurry up. he seemed to be purposefully speaking slowly even when i prompted him to speak faster. I wouldn't trust this number as I have never once heard of a grant costing you any type of money, "verification fee" or otherwise.
Alex 2012-07-07 10:58:32 Unknown
My friend recieved the same call saying that he is eligible for a $10,000 grant but they want a $200 security deposit... seems legit. :P
(btw, you can always look up a phone number for free on www.cidlookup.com)
catgra 2012-07-02 17:16:23 Unknown
I received a phone call from a man initially identifing himself as part of a Federal government demographic study that qulified me to receive $10,000. Gave me a physical address of 200 Independence Avenue, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20201. He told me to call (202) 657-5284 then go to a Western Union to pick up the money but only after I pay $205 for signature verfication.
THIS IS A SCAM!
Kevin 2012-06-29 22:19:45 Unknown
Yes ma'am...you are correct. I too got a call saying the same thing....they asked me to send them $200 and after 10 minutes the will send me $10,000 with that $200...It was so funny thing to me....
EDR 2012-06-29 16:21:47 Unknown
I received the same call bu toriginally from 354-879-5865 claiming that I won $10,000 Govt grant but I had to send them $200 to receive my money.

Zackery Smith 2012-06-21 19:46:25 Unknown
Same man, the same crazy idiot called me up and gave me the same Id number as you and the same instructions as you as well. Those guys are so darn aggravating that I just told them to either figure out a better scam, or better yet, get a better life, because I already knew they were a scam. All i hear *Click*. I'm just gonna start saying at the start * FBI how may I help you* maybe that will get rid of all these annoying scammers :)
Zackery Smith 2012-06-21 19:38:20 Unknown
1. This is without any doubt a scam, period. The government won't pay you through western union or call you on a phone. Neither will the FBI or CIA. 2. I had the same problems with them, Grant ID 10,000 dollars, 215 dollar deposit, needing to go to Western Union with an ID, and a phone, along with my signature. Grants will never do this and neither will the Federal goverment, end of story. I asked this guy his name, probably a fake name, but he said his name was Mark. Best of fortunes to the next person this idiot calls.
Smarter than them... 2012-06-19 20:42:03 Unknown
Just received the call myself for my daughter. As I am listening to the guy (could barely hear him), I checked the grants.com on my computer. I told the guy this and that the internet reports they are a scam.
"No. No...." WHY would the government use WESTERN UNION anyway??????
Too Smart for This Scam 2012-06-19 18:36:47 Unknown
Some one called to say I had been offered a $10,000.00 grant from the Federal Govt for being and outstanding citizen. He gave me a confirmation number and told me to go to the nearest Western Union to collect. He told me I had to bring a photo ID, my cell phone, and $200 deposit. He asked if I could go to the nearest Westen Union right now so I could get my money immediately.....
Really?? Because the Federal Govt. really does things "immediately".
My phone number is already on the "No Call List" and these people still keep calling.
I wasn't born yesterday - no where do you pay $200 to get $10,000.!!!!
LTN 2012-06-19 16:38:33 Unknown
I received a phone call from an "Out of Area" (phone ID) caller who claimed I was selected to receive a free $10,000 grant. He directed me to go to a Rite Aid to use their Western Union service and give them $205 deposit. Once the grant was issued I would receive $10,205 dollars back. The grant ID number I was given was G5526 and the call back number was 1-202-657-5284. This all occurred around 12:00 noon on June 19, 2012.
Marsi 2012-06-18 23:44:35 Unknown
I just got a call from them today too. I could hear at the beginning of the call the guy tell someone else he was on a call (professional right?) He gave me a long speal on how I earned this grant and to not use it for illegal activities. LOL His name he gave me was Edward Hogan. It's a scam! They called me on a number that I give out for people who don't know me. Not the one I'd use for anything offical.
Dianna D 2012-06-13 01:21:35 Unknown
For those who are still wondering if this Federal Grant call is a scam.... YES.. IT IS A SCAM. The Federal Government does have grants but you will NEVER EVER have to pay a fee to apply for or receive a grant. Go to www.grants.gov for federal grants. Go to FTC.GOV to file complaints or to get consumer information.
Dianna D 2012-06-13 00:22:24 Unknown
Caller wanted me to collect $7800. federal grant money from U.S. Department of Health and Human Services by taking my cell phone, picture ID and $200 to Western Union and then I'm supposed to call the phone number back from Western Union and get further instructions on how to lose my $200. They claim they will turn right around and send back $8000. Also I was instructed NOT to tell Western Union employees what I was doing else Western Union would try to collect huge fees and taxes from me. When I said I didn't mind paying the Western Union fees I got to talk to a supervisor who advised against that because Western Union is a private company and they would also then try to collect more fees from the Federal Govt. The actual phone number that showed up on my caller id doesn't look like a phone number at all. I'm reporting the phone number that I am supposed to call when I get to the Western Union office. The number on my caller ID is +453412
I've received these phone calls before but the other callers wanted me to give out my debit card number so they could direct deposit my grant money. I always hear "CLICK" when tell them to just send me a loaded prepaid VISA instead of attempting to get my banking info. All the calls I have received stress over and over that the money is only to be used by me for legal purposes only. LOL
not Michael 2012-06-12 02:44:06 Unknown
Its fake. The government is not giving out grants.
The $210 you paid is gone. You will never catch the thief who took it.
