I got several calls from this number 202-666-8540 regarding an $8400 "grant" from the federal government. Don't fall for the trap.

I have received a couple weeks ago a call from this number - they said I was a winner than same than one of the bloggers started asking for a valid credit card. I just hung up. I don't know how they got my cell phone number and are now calling but as soon as I answer they hang up.
I am so pleased I checked for the reverse number and got this blog - there should be a way to stop these scams

I keep getting phones calls from this phone number with foreign person male and sometime female, when I tell them they have the wrong number they quickly hang up on me. I never entertained their call since I think it is some scam going on.

Really pissed me off because i just so happen to be actually waiting to hear whether or not ill be elligible for a grant... but anyways it is definitely fake as can be. Dont give them any Account #'s

Call 4-5 times daily. Have asked them not to call. Next offense, going to file a complaint with NC Attorney General office (as if they have nothing better to do)

This mf'er calls and asks for me then I told him whatever he wanted I wasn't interested and he tells me he loves me... oh my god really! I told him "no you don't and not to call my phone again" and hung up.. he hasn't called back..    yet

This number just called me and asked if they could have my bank or cc info. I said I amnot giving you my info and if you call again I will call the police. He replied how about I F*ck your Pu**y! I hung up, He called again and my co worker answered. He said how about I F your P in front of the police. I am not scared of no police. My co worker said have a nice day, To which he replied I will come F your P now.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?

I have received many missed called from this number, each time I called back it states "line busy".  I had received other calls from numbers with area code '202' in the past. On several occasion, the callers usually ask for my credit card information to pay a one time $3 (three) process fee for a federal govt. grant. I know it is a SCAM, I never answered them. Please don't give anyone your credit card or personal information on the phone unless you know the source.

No one here can make them stop. However, see my post above, stopping these kind of calls is something you have to help yourself with.  Reports here though tells others what is going on with this number, so file reports like I mentioned above!

Make sure you do file complaints with the FBI, your state attorney general,FTC & FCC..

Buy a whistle or boat horn and blast them a few times! Then when they call, as quickly as you can id, pickup and hang up..

You can also buy a call blocker..

Please stop this caller from calling my phone.

I cussed them out in Hindi I'm American and know there language I called them liars and thirds doubleinwandee say all together means liar thief they never call again

isn't there any way to stop this? not only is it aggravating it's actually really creepy. I received a call in the middle of the night.  I nearly got a heart attack.  There has to be a way to block these calls!

these scallywags tried pullin that s*** when i was halfway through my blunt so i was already toasted and answered my cell,like hello same story bout the bs government grant,,,im gonna have some fun with them if they call back,,,checkmate fuckboys,,,,,ha ha

I have been getting calls from this number but I haven't answered them.  How can these calls be blocked?

I just got a call from them today a thick accent gentleman ( use it loosely ) all the while watching a car accident happen in front of me ( no I was not driving ). I told him that I can't talk there was an accident. still wanted to chat with me about something I just hung up. Seriously glad I looked up that number. Why do they think we would give out that info. And why would the government use over seas call centers and give out free money?

Told me I was eligible for $8,000 grant. I replied for her to give me her company info and that I work for the government and she hung up. Definitely a scam.

Continuously receiving calls from this number.  They do not leave a message and the number does not work when calling it back

i just got called by these people and i told them i was not interested in a scam and they got very hostile. i told them i wasn't interested again and he kept talking and i hung up. he was a foreigner

I also keep Getting this call today I answered it. As soon as he said I was chosen for 8400.00 free money. I said I'm. Not giving my accoount number.

Same thing, man with thick accent said he was with US Treasure Finance Department, because I pay my bills I qualified for $8000 grant. I said I live off the land and have no bank account or credit cards, just mail me a check.  He asked for any store card, or Walmart card, anything.  I said no. I asked their address, he replied with 200 SW Independence Drive, so he was prepared for that question. I just laughed at him saying no government agency is going to ask for cc or bank info over the phone.  He wouldn't give up even when I told him it was a scam and laughed at him.

i just hung up on them when she started asking about personal things and my account and card number...she also ask for my account number and card number....i said can you mail it...Gov't checks are always mailed out never sent to account and the Gov't never ask for your account number our card info...no go over here...now go back to your own country and stop trying to scam people...and she was foreign

This number WILL NOT leave me alone. Seriously, it has called me 12 times in the past 4 days. I'm about to change my number! And one time.. ONE time a guy was actually on the other end and asked for me by name, then hung up. Now? Now they hang up when I answer, or in the voicemails. I HATE IT.

I checked my phone and noticed 3 calls from this number which I just found on reverse lookup...after reading the above posts, I tried to call the number  - I've had a bad day and would LOVE to have someone who deserves it to cuss out, lol. Fortunately for them, I got the "all circuits are bus" message.
