A man from this number, with a thick foreign accent, left a message on my voice mail stating he was a law enforcement officer with the IRS and that I owed money. I still have that voicemail. These individuals are calling from the number below as well.

I got 5 calls from this number......some I ignored some I answered and just hung up.  Finally on the last call I answered and a man with a very thick accent (India?) asked for me by name and asked if I remembered him, I said no asked who this was and what it was about, he then told me he was my ex-boyfriend ( I literally laughed out loud and said I don't think so)  he kept saying yes he was my ex and did I remember him?    CRAZY.    Guess this was his way of getting me back for repeatedly hanging up on him.

If you read Tamianth's post, and tried reporting the scam at those links,
and if that still does not work, keep reading ...

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is buy a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.

Google "call blocker" for more information.
http://goo.gl/cdPm8O

If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers!  All that does is verify your phone number!  And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scammers" (or similar).  Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group.

I received several calls from this number, I did not answer until this last time.  The individual speaking with an accent stated that I was to receive a grant of $8000 from the US government.  I ask him what the catch was and he stated I would have to speak to someone else about the details.  I told him I was not interested and to remove me from his call list and he proceeded to curse me out using the "F" word a number of times and then hung up the phone.  Several days ago I got a phone call from someone with a California exchange that had the same accent and actually sounded like the same individual and he told me his was a friend, that he met me before in the town where I currently live.  I ask him where I met him at and he proceeded to tell me that he was a chef.  Well unless he was the chef at McDs I did not know this individual either and he proceeded to hang up after I told him I did not wanted to be removed from his call list.

Very same thing happen to me today, same words I was chosen to receive an $8,000 grants to use it to pay my bills as long as I didn't use the money for something illegal, so I asked him for his #ID and his name because I wasn't gonna give my information to anyone, that I needed to check who was calling me first, he kept saying that he will call back at my convenience time to give me $8,000 grants. The name he gave me was Mack Randy. I hang up on him!!

I answered the incoming call much to my disdain as it was a hindu person on the other end and I told him I barely understood the hindi language and told him to "take a hike". The same number called back in rapid attempts.

They won't stop.  They are Indian scammer/extortionists and are basically criminals who ignore US laws and requests from potential scam victims.

Don't call'em and block their calls.   Don't waste your time attempting to call them.  Half the time the number has been disconnected.

If you're a woman then you will most likely be the victim of sexually aggressive talk.  Stay away from 'em.

That's a common practice--to threaten to call you repeatedly once you've told them they are scammers.

Report 'em  https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection

Also works for those phony government grant calls too.

I asked a few more questions, and found that you needed to make a $200 "holding" deposit, and a $300 "processing fee."  That's why they needed a card number to "deposit " the money

This number called a few times, I didn't pick up and they didn't leave a message.  Finally, I decided to pick up.  I asked for the company name, US Department of Health (so they claim).  I asked them to take me off their "call list" and for a return number to verify that they should have my information.  I was given 202-666-9147.  I did not call them back.

I received a call today and then asked for a return phone number.  The rep said,"the number for now?" I followed up,"Now? What does that mean?" I was given an international random number (not even enough digits for a call.  I then asked for a mailing address, the rep said he would transfer me to a supervisor.  I asked the supervisor, he responded, "Austin TX".. I asked for a street address, the response was Park Ave.  I asked for a physically US mailing address where this company exists.  They hang up.

Btw I'm in Wyoming, so it seems like only the country matters to them.

Get a lifeguard whistle and when you recognize this same number again and again, pick up the phone and blow as hard as you can.  Even if they don't quit calling, you will get enormous satisfaction!
