I received a call from a guy (terrible) english.  He said that I was chosen to receive 5,000.00.  I needed to pay 199.00 and get the money through western union, or my bank account. Well I not a fool, I dont give my account # to anybody, and the only way I would agree, they would have to send me the $5,000.00 1st, I would cash the check, and send them the $199.00.  The manager 's name given was John Williams with an approval code from the number 202 657-4493.  Scammers should know by now that google is the way, and they can be found out.  Le ts stay prayed up, and stop being so money hungry into supidity.  For those that they do convience, they will get got in a worse way.

Just got a call from a foreign guy telling be I won 7000 in a grant. They ask how  in wanted the money and knew my address( which was wrong) .  I told them no thank you.

I got the same call.  Became skeptical immediately but listened..  after reading the comments here let me tell you that there are 300 people feeling very bad right now as I was told there were 1700 people who were chosen, 300 less then the 2000 other people are saying.  Also I was told that I needed to deposit 330.00 wirh Western Union so I gues since they lost 300 people to scam they had to raise the deposit!!  ROTFSMHLMAO!!!!!!

I got a 10000 dollar call and I decided to play along, I called the number and he said 7000. I just laughed, they weren't even smart enough to keep their stories straight lol

This lady calls and tells me that I am receiving $7000 and asked how I wanted to receive the money, Cash, Check or Deposited in my bank acct. I said Cash she told me to call a 206 number. I called to ask questions and the lady hung up on me. So i called again, attempting to find out why she would hang up, and she hung up again so I called a few more times. I knew it was a scam and these people called me at all hours of the day, Im talking 2am 5am on and on. The whole thing just blows my mind! people have nothing better to do.

I got a call from these ppl as well in a indian accent tht told me i wld get ovr $8000 free gov grant cld not be used illegally such as on alcohol which is legal and can be used for vacations amd paying bills he asked what i would use the money for i said bills so he said i had two options on getting the money by using a bank account so they can monitor that im not using the money for illegal purpose or get a walmart gift carf i said gift card he said u dont hve a bank account i said no so he said ok i will call u back i tried to call the number back and the automated message said it was disconnected

got a call to call 202 470 4840 said i would get 8400 for free and to pay 210 i didnt felt like a scam now i look it up glad i didnt these people should be hang for tryin to take peoples money ,

ok i got the same call from the us grant dept ... they ask for credit or debit card elct check number or cash i said cash noones getting my information.... she said call back my manager for further information so i did.... he told me to go to a western union (fishy)then call him and he will give you more details their account number all you need is your i.d. also they want you to deposit a refundable deposit of 300 dollars i went the **** off i yelled your a scam your taking innocent peoples money asking for 300 dollars so you can rob them i told him i have already reported his number and fake company to the proper authorities and he hung up ...the police said the number is in the united states but its a cell being used across the sea ....so its a scam

A lady called (as an unknown caller)  to congratulate me on winning 10,000 for a grant and stated that I can use this money for anything that I want , for education, a car and etc. And it should be used properly and I didn't need to pay it back . She said she was with the Federal Reserve Bank. They asked for my residence in order to verify that I was the correct person. She asked for my marital status , family and if I was employed or not. This is important: I was employed part time and was a student .  I asked if she was with FAFSA or anything and she didn't know what that was... Which was a little sketchy . I asked for her name and she said it was Michel Adia or Michelle Adis. This lady had a thick eastern accent . I asked who she was working for and how I won. And she said Federal Bank Reserve and the reason I won was because I was a part time student .... Which I told her earlier ... A little wierd ... I won because I was a part time student in which I told her during the phone call and not before that. She said I had 2 options in receiving the money, which was through my credit card and something else which I couldn't make out because of her think stupid accent. She asked for my credit card number ... I asked if she could send it to me through a check.. and she replied that the only way was through my credit card account... strange. .. So I asked her question asking if this was actually the government speaking to me and if I can speak to a higher up worker . I also asked for the number since the call was Unknown.
I think she knew something was up so she gave me this number : 2026846895. I said I would call her back and lied that something happen to my card . She told me I should call in 40-50 min. And said I can talk to the Senior Account manager , too make sure everything was ok. And I said I will call back . And she stated again the phone number was to te Senior Account manager

Lucky for me , I talked to a counselor at my school and she told me something wasn't right about this. And I started to research more .

Well then, I got pissed off , called them back and it went to voicemail & the voice system sounds pretty official an realistic but it sounded recorded . So I called another time
And a man picked up, his accent wasn't as strong as the lady's . It's like an Indian / eastern  accent .
He said his name was Michael something . ( I couldn't get the last name) and I asked what his occupation was and he sounded very not confident in what He's doing . And he said he was "just " the account manager .
He was stuttering a tiny bit . There's a background sound like the place is busy and alot of other people kn the phone but it was the same background  ( probably a recording) as the time the lady called me .
So , I asked what if he was the Senior account manager , he said he's just the account manager . And I blew up on him, told him I would call the government and a whole bunch of stuff , in which I WILL do .
If these mofo scam artist bi****s are gonna scam me, use a name that fits their ugly a** accents and sound confident a***oles.

I'm pretty sure the Governmet is not going to hire people who can't speak properly in English.

And btw, grants are given when the students are accepted which is in the end of March and grants don't need your credit card account number .

I recieved the same call but from a different number. The number was 202-621-0436  and they stated that I needed to make a cash donation of $280. He already had my info.

I received a call from 202-470-6035 claiming I was picked to receive$9000 of funds from the government that I wouldnt have to pay back...and that I have to pay a processing fee to get tja money...Scammers

Evidently, these people are at it again. I was to be the recipient of a $7000 federal grant if I just provided a bank account or debit/credit card number. I really gave this ESL caller a hard time. I told him I don't give out my personal information and that if this were true, the Federal Government can send me a check. Big Brother has my address. I also told him I wanted to speak to his supervisor. He dodged that one and then I asked him what branch of the federal government he was working for. He wouldn't answer that one either. I turned the tables on him and continued barraging him with questions. Soon he gave up and said that will be calling me back shortly. I'll bet they don't!

i recieved the same type of call from a different number still (202) tho the lady told me i was approved for a grant 7000 for never filing bankruptcy and something else the cost was 280 to wire it thru western union and i would get the 7000 in 15mins i googled the number its was in washington and my aunt call the gov treasures they ARE NOT LEGIT DONT DO IT in my mind i really wanted to try and see but i didnt i cant loose 280

This is interesting.... I'm looking at the dates these comments were posted, I'm surprised these scammers are still going on with the same scam lol!! I just got the same call for a "7000" government grant :/ and this so called government official who was giving me somewhat free money (laughs) sounded Hindu "from india" and couldn't answer my questions... Only asked for exact mailing address, which i never gave, I was given a # and name of a person to speak with who's name was "johhny" and some code to claim my so called free grant haha!! Very lame and pathetic!

Yeah i got the lady from india congratulating me for randomly being selected to recieve $10000 , so after i wrote their call back number down, i Googled & found out about the scam they're with D.c area code phone nuumbers. I kindly called them back blocking my number & told them that i filed a complaint with the state attorney's office & the Federal trade comission . That's all you can do. I dont think they'll be calling me back anytime soon

I get THAT call several times a week or from UNKNOWN.  Now I answer the phone when their number or UNKNOWN pops up with "Federal Bureau of Investigatiion, agent Burks, how may I assist you?".  Then i say off phone "keep them on the phone while we trace the call".  Then I listen to them and sound interested and keep them on the phone making up excuses as long as I can.

I was at work today when I got a call from this number. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize especially out of state calls. I was bored during lunch so I googled the number and tis site came. You should see what comes up when you google 7000.00 grant scam tons of people reporting these scammer's. I knew they would call me back and they didn't disappoint me they called at 7.00pm. I kept the first lady name Cindy(yeah right) on the phone for 15 minutes telling her how happy I was to get the grant. Then I called Ashley with my confirmation code and and told her I would be at Western Union with my 199.00 in ten minutes. She told me to call her when I got there and don't tell the Western Union people what I was doing or the would steal some of my money(yeah right).I called Ashley back and told her I was at Western Union but I was in a long line. Then I told her they were having computer trouble and she stayed on the line. I kept her stupid a-- on the phone for 45 minutes then told her I knew this was a scam and that I wasn't at WU. She went nuts cursing at me I was laughing so hard I was crying...good riddance I doubt they will EVER call me again.

The unknown number did the same with me... I then goggled us grants and the call back number provided and found all of these scams here. The call back number given to me was 202-470-1411.

I received a call on sept. 14, 2012 @ about 2:00 pm from a lady with an indian accent, informing me that I had been selected to receive a $10,000 grant from the us treasury dept. I was given a pin #(rs115)and was instructed to call 202-640-5471. I called the number and another individual with an indian sounding accent answered the phone. It was difficult to understand because it was obvious that they were having trouble speaking english.(Also, there was a lot of background noise)They said that if I gave them 299.00 for an identification fee, they would send me a check for $10,000. I stayed on the phone with her for over an hour trying to find out who they were or where they were at . She said her adress was 200 Independance Ave, Washington D.C.(I asked her to turn down the tv, and, could I please speak to a us federal govt, employee that spoke better english!)

Me and my girlfriend have been having allot of fun with theses people. I call them about three times a day and raise hell with them and make them get mad and hang up.. It's getting quite funny but it's what they get for tryin to scam me and my girlfriend who are hard workin Americans..

i got a call from 202-657-1111, and she said her name is Ashely smith,,  that federal grats me 7800$,,  they picked me from 20,00 ppl , who r non violated, not crimed ppl like that she told me,  and she said this money not granted for any illegal activity,, u can buy a car or for home or for studiesu can spend, she told me,,  and i need to pay 225$ to get that money and and which also refundable, it takes3 minuits to refund,,  after that i talked with my husband and their colleagues discussed,, he tryed to talk with them but that number says unavailable, then i called from my phone they lifted,, he asked r u at walmart western union,, no and ,we asked in what program  i got money, they stopped talking with us,,  so please don't believe these scammers,,, 202 -621-0076 also a scam num in this,,, after that i realized how foolishly i think, without applying any where they giving money to me,,, how badly trapping,,, anyway today God is great to save me

I just received a call for gov money (7,000) and when I said "no Thank you" and hung up the person called me back and asked me "Do you want to die". The number he gave me to call was 312-636-5329.

Yes, just got a call as well. Same as all the above people. I did not call the number back after I hung up the phone.  Strange thing she called back after 2 mins asking why I had not called the 202 number.  I said was looking into her scam and she immediately hung up the phone. The number she called from was 156-454-6412. She told me I had to call the 202-684-6895 give them my fed I'd number to claim my winnings.  No way the gov would just hand out 10,000 to 15,000 people randomly!!!!!! SCAM

same thing happeneto me when i got disconnect from the call i tried to call the number back and they said that number didnt exsist and or was disconnected.
