Your scummy calls are the least of the problem.

Charity navigator rates your outfit 0 out of 5 stars. And the real purpose of the calls is to line the pockets of the scum that run the boiler room errr I mean "call center" (LOL). According to them, your fundraising eats more than 54% of your take, with the rest going to "administrative expenses" and so forth (BTW is that before or after the boiler room operation gets its cut) --with maybe a few cents left over so you can publish some fluffy press releases to make it look like you're a real charity. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting. Shame on you for coming on this site and LYING about it.

It's a blight on real charities and people really trying to do good that an organization like yours even exists.

If you are visiting this website we suspect you are concerned about telephone calls you have received from the American Institute for Cancer Research or AICR.

We sincerely apologize if our calls have upset, offended or inconvenienced you in any way.

You may have registered with the National Do Not Call List and wonder why you have been called.
You should know that charities, nonprofit  and political organizations are exempt from the National Do Not Call requirements.  However, we don?t want to call you, if you don?t want to be called.  It is AICR?s policy to always honor a request to not be called.

The easiest way to be removed from future telephone solicitations by AICR, is to complete our Do Not Call form at www.aicr.org/dontcallme.

Once you complete the form we will suppress your telephone number from future fundraising campaigns.

The American Institute for Cancer Research is a national cancer charity focusing on the link between diet, nutrition and cancer.  In our most recent fiscal year (2012) where audited numbers are available, together, research and public education programs accounted for 65% of all expenditures, with fundraising 22% and administration at 13% of expenses.
It may take up to 72 hours to remove your information from our telephone fundraising campaigns.  If you would like to speak with someone you can reach us at 1-880-843-8114 weekdays from 9am to 5pm Eastern Standard Time.

We hope this information has been helpful.

It's actually AICR, American Institute for Cancer Research, a supposed "charity" that is among the lowest rated charities of all, because of the fact most all of the donated monies go the the people running the "charity" and those that call us begging for money, and very little or anything goes to cancer projects! These scammers take money away from legitimate charities and are definitely to be avoided.

Sorry, I'm getting my bottom-feeder "charities" mixed up: It's the Children's Cancer Research Foundation that made the "50 Worst Charities" list. AICR, the American Institute for Cancer Research does, however, rate a whopping ZERO stars at Charity Navigator:

AICR made a list of "America's 50 Worst Charities"
http://www.tampabay.com/americas-worst-charities/
But they *are* a charity, however sleazy, so they aren't bound by Do Not Call laws.

As for why they don't leave a message, there's no reason for them to do so and plenty of incentive for them not to.

Every second they spend leaving a message on your answering machine or voicemail is wasted time they could spend dialing (several) other numbers. Few people respond to these pitches at all but the number who respond to a *recording* left on their answering machine is pretty much zero! Their only hope of getting money is by talking to someone in person ? so leaving a message is a just an inefficient use of their time.

They don't want you to know who they are until they can talk to you. They could be worried that if you know who they are you'll block their number or simply ignore their calls.

I am at my wits end with the calls from AICR, every day including Saturdays and Sundays, sometimes twice a day, at different times, it doesn't matter.  I finally googled the initials which finally brought me to this location.  I too am on the do not call list which at first worked, but within the last year I am beginning to get just as many calls as when I was not on the list.  I haven't answered any AICR calls, and a message is never left.

Tomaso.... Why take the time to post a question . If you had read No Robo for Lawrence post you would have gotten some useful information.

READ  READ READ READ Before you post... AND PLEASE DON'T PUT YOUR PHONE NUMBER ON THIS PUBLIC SITE. ( SOMEONE HAS PLACED THEIR NUMBER ON A LOG FOR ANOTHER TELEMARKETER NUMBER).......... 800 NOTES.COM HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH PUTTING YOUR NUMBER ON A DNC LIST

Non-profit Organization
Recv'd call from this number on 9 30 13,,No message left.
Recently... I've been  trying to find out who's been calling the house and to be placed on their Do Not Call List . I called 202 688 0632.and the answering message states that they are the American Institute for Cancer Research and that they were sorry that they missed my call and that they would call me back in  few days.

(Note:It seems strange to me that a charity organization calls me and when I return call to them that their is no one to take my call or my money. Fishy ?)

Listen to the prompts... press 1 to listen. then you will have a 2nd chance to press another number to be placed on their Do Not Call List.

The following is taken directly from the National Do Not call Directory website;---->:

Will All Telemarketing Calls Stop If I Register?( On the National Directory)
If I register my number on the National Do Not Call Registry, will it stop all telemarketing calls?
No. Placing your number on the National Do Not Call Registry will stop most telemarketing calls, but not all. Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted, as would calls from companies with which you have an existing business relationship, or those to whom you?ve provided express agreement in writing to receive their calls. However, if you ask a company with which you have an existing business relationship to place your number on its own do-not-call list, it must honor your request.  You should keep a record of the date you make the request.

End of the month-must be telemarketers extra bonus points day!   Calls from places like this started at 8:15 am today.  AICR was #5  and it's only 1:00 pm.  Just love dropping everything I'm doing when the phone rings only to find: 1) the phone only rings 3 times and stops before I get to the phone to answer.   2) When I answer the phone, no one there and 3) I try to ignore the phone and it keeps ringing 10 times or more right when my television program is about to end!

We have been getting this annoying call every day for weeks.  Last night they even called close to 9 p.m.!  The caller ID always shows Anonymous!  We also have been receiving numerous calls from another 202 area code number with the ID showing Washington.  After reading the above complaints, I'm wondering if the two are connected.  The calls are very ANNOYING and an INVASION OF PRIVACY!
