They called and said wrong number @8:27 amI was sleeping. Helllloooooo give me a break!i worked all night.

That's what just happened to me today on my cell phone.

This was a legitimate number from the Dept. of Labor Adjudication Branch in Washington, D.C. but the call kept dropping off.

I got a call from this number and did not pick up. This is the second time. I  do not pick up calls that do not have a name attached to it,

Got a call from this number and after 2 rings I answered it but they had hung up already. Strange.

EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL IF IT IS INDEED THE DEPT OF LABOR.....

I CALLED THIS NUMBER BACK REPEATEDLY AND ALL THEY DID WAS PICK UP AND HANG UP EVERY TIME .................

Ann e is correct.  Just had the same experience myself this morning.  This is DOL's generic outgoing phone number.

I received a call from this number this morning.  No one answered when I did.  They also didn't leave a voice mail.

this # is REALLY the NC DEPT OF LABOR. it's weird cuz it's the number they DIAL OUT on...each dept has an extension.....they have to dial 9 first to get an out going extension...you cannot dial this # but you can dial different depts or specific extensions...i had to call them and this is # he called me back from..MAIN EXTENSION FOR OUTGOING CALLS FROM NC DEPT OF LABOR

Got my wife who speaks mostly German, so it was certanly a confusing conversation. Apparently asked if we were a construction company.

This number appeared on my office phone.  It is a trunk line at the Department of Labor.  The person calling had legitimate business; she just called from a different phone at the Dep't of Labor.  It is not a scam.

This phone number 202-693-9999 is from the Dept of Labor. I had called them yesterday about a personal concern. The lady that returned my call today was most helpful and gave me several phone numbers to call. The assistance was great.

I had left my name and number with questions about nursing moms at a workplace and was waiting for someone to respond with an answer, so when I missed the call and heard the message that was left on my voice mail  I can confirm that the call came from DOL. it is most likely a general outgoing number for them, becuse the person left a different number to call her back.

It id the Dept Of Labor trying to return a complaint against my husbands previous employer for not sending us our COBRA information before the due date to sign up.

i got a call from this number on my cell twice today, getting the same message as invalid number when i called back.

I think it may Dept of labor returning my e-mail complaint about not receiving my cobra notice from husband work after a lay off. The company claims they are going to send it. Last week they when I called them to get the notice, They said my husband listed as an active employee with the company. I WISH! The person I spoke to said he'd call me back but I Never received a return call. It's 60 days today the last day to sign up for cobra benefits!  When he called today they claimed the Notice was sent. Why did we need to call them once and twice a week to get the notice for cobra benefits if we had received it? On day 60 days they claimed it was sent for the first time? The cut off date for getting cobra benefits. Good thing I sent the e-mail to the Debt Of Labor complaining about not getting my Cobra Benefits Notice from his work! I've got it documented that I hadn't received the Benefit Notice in time because His Company is trying to cover their butts with a lie.

This number is usually someone(employee) from the department of labor making an out going call. Its a generic number. It's not a telemarketer,debt call, or anything of that nature. It's probably someone you know.

received a call from this number saying I had pension benefits from two companies I never worked for. I reported this to the Dept of Labor. they didn't know what to do. it is someone trying to run a scam, I think. don't give out any info.

Is it allowed to use this number to make personal outgoing calls? As a taxpayer, I'd like to know.

This is most definitely an outgoing # for the U.S. Department of Labor. I have a family member who works there and calls me on from this number on a regular basis. These people are just trying to do their jobs. Cut them some slack.

Saw a missed call from this # on my cell - no voicemail. Not sure if it's telemarketing or a genuine call from the DOL. But I'm not calling back (especially given what one of the posters-Kujayhawk69-below said, "I work for the Department of Labor, and this is a 'generic' extension for outgoing calls."

some woman says she is calling from the department of labor, but she wanted the purchasing dept, I DONT GET IT.

It is the US Dept of Labor. they called me in response to an email I sent regarding a COBRA question.
