lol yup they are str cons!!!!! you are slow to pay anyone for something you are suppose to be getting back! I asked him who the grant was for he said me...(wtf just get $9,000 me cuz i pay all my bills and taxes! I knew that had 2 be a lie) so i said 2 him whats my name do u know my name ..he said dont worry about it sir its for you! lol i think he hang up after that! I still called the so called call back number he give me give some i think other guy my so call confo/i.d number. once i really seen that he just wanted my bank info or me 2 send him $$ from a damn greendot card i hang up on him lol!    Lansing,IL

They claim to be from Health and Human Services from the grants department, and said that they were representing the federal government. They said I had been selected because I had no criminal record the last six months and had never declared bankruptcy. Both of which are correct. I called the secondary number just for the fun of it and received the same lady with a strong foreign accent who became very angry when I asked her if she could sleep comfortably at night knowing that she was trying to cheat people out of money. I also reported this to consumerfraudreporting.org which connected me to the Secret Service. Hopefully they won't rip off too many people befor they are caught.

I just received this same call.  I told the guy that I was looking at this page and funny how the numbers he gave me were the same.  I told him to remove my number from his list and that this scam needs to stop.  He didn't know what to say and was gone just like that.

I got a call from someone as well with a foreign accent claiming I will receive nine thousand dollars from the federal government.I played along with them as well and the lady got mad at when I asked her how many damm fools do she rip off in a day. She hung up on me but I called back to have some more fun and she called me a stupid Americans. But I replied not too f****** stupid to give you my money.but as we say here in America I LMAO. People don't fall for that b***s*** because our federal government will not have someone from a foreign country call us. So do like I do show how f****ng stupid they are

When they told me "...no convictions..." I asked why they were calling me at the prison library. The fellow couldn't understand the question. Then I insisted they give me the money right now. Then I told him they were stealing my $9,000 and to give it back immediately. He kept repeating I had to call the number. I kept telling hime I wanted my money back. Finally he got the supervisor, who, I must say had a much better command of English. When I told him I wanted the $9,000 they stole from me, he asked "You're joking?" "No, I want you to give me back my money." He explained it was a grant from the government, so then I insisted they give me $25,000--the govt has lots of money. He said could I use $9,000? No, it won't even buy a car--I want $25,000. He asked if I thought money grew on trees. I said "Yes. Money is made from paper and paper is made from trees, so yeah money grows on trees." He laughed, figured out I had too much time to play with, and said goodbye and hung up.

I recieved a call from a man claiming I was picked to recieve a $9000 Fedral grant from the United States Government.In a deep for foreign accent I was told to call 202-697-9238 in 25 minutes to have the money sent to my credit card,bank account or I could get cash. I was given a confirmation # I needed to collect. The room he was in was very loud and busy .I could smell a scam. I did not call back and went to the internet to find this informative site.Beware

I got a call from the same number as most other people on this sight. He ran threw the information that he did for the rest of you. knowing that their are grants out their for people who know where to look. I asked him if he had a website that I could look up. The man then asked why I would need that I told him that I work for the government and I just wanted to double check that this was not a scam he then gave me the website www.governmentgrant.com which when i looked up it is a website but has a different number than the one he gave me. I then asked him what the grant was called. He told me that I should know that if I work for the government. I said I need the name of the grant to make sure it is a real grant at that point he hung up on me. I'm going to make a wild guess and say this is a scam for sure.

Got the same call. The woman's phone number was 202-697-1020. I never called back because I figured it was a scam.

I got a call from 202-559-7639 saying the same as above I was to receive a grant of $9,000.00 if I called 202-697-9238 out of curiosity I called since nobody else here says they did they said I could receive the money today direct deposit in my account or have it sent western union, but to make sure the money was going to the right person I was to make a one time deposit NO I told him NO way would I pay for something that was supposed to be free and I knew he was a scam trying to get into my account to get my money...He hung up LOL..On the selection of call type you need to add scam to that..

Straight up scam, the fact that they ALL have deep accents and claim to work for OUR government is suspicious alone.  To my fellow hard working Americans, don't fall victim to these A holes. They are directly targeting us, cyber terrorism at it's finest.

Got a call from a lady with a deep foreign accent saying that I have won a $9000 grant and given two numbers one being a confirmation number and the other a call back number.. Didn't bother calling back but be ware this sounded very fishy to me..

I didn't call the other number.

I was told that because I pay my bills on time, have not declared bankruptcy, and pay my taxes, that the gov't. was giving me a grant in the amount of $9,000. All I had to do is give the grant number to the person who answered the phone at 202-697-9238 and I would get the money today. The caller was female and had a heavy foreign accent. I knew it was a scam attempt but I played along to the end of that call to get the info I have given here. Needless to say, I did not call the number I was given!

Called from a different number but was given a confirmation number and this  phone number to call back into very much a scam beware
