i received a call yesterday from a woman, claiming that I won Grant funds in the amount of
$7000, and that I would need to send $280 by way of Western Union for security purposes.
I asked why not subtract the amount of the fee from the amout being disbursed to me. And I
was told that this is a seperatte entity. I tell you the money would really come in handy for me
at this time, but as you stated I think that this is a scam as well. Sure would have been nice though!!!!

202-000-1111 populated.  Just like everyone else.  Only I checked this first before calling his supervisor Joni Burns at 202-697-9161 to hear what they had to say!  Glad to see everyones postings!

Was called and said I was one of the select few to get picked for a grant I don't have to pay back the guys name was mark cooper but when I get calls like this I get online and google it

I was informed that I was being given a grant of 9,000.00 for having no criminal reports for the last year, He clamined his name was Philip Lawson, used an american name but could hardly speak english. He informed me I had to go to western union to buy a Green dot Card, I told him I was getting ready for bed and we continue this tomorrow lol, knew it was a scam. I hope people like this can be caught and put in jail. He did inform me he worked for the Federal Reserve, that I was one in 1700 who would be receiving this money in my area.

They must be getting a little more desperate because I received the same call but they told me that my free grant was for $9,000.  I felt so special.  Thanks to everyone that has posted and making everyone aware if these scammers.

My husband got the same call this afternoon. After telling him that no goverment agency would tell you to go load a prepaid card so they could send you grant money I got the number they wanted him to call back on and unleashed. The woman who picked up (who barely spoke broken english) couldn't even remember which department of the govt. she supposedly worked for and when I asked her why the hell she would need money loaded onto a card (especially a specific amount of $310) she got pissy and started saying they would just take him off their list. I then informed her I would be reporting their scam to every watchdog group I could think of. Frauds.

Today, a foreigner called and told me that because I was a good citizen and paid my taxes, the government would pay me $9,000.00. She called from 202-697-9238. I played along with the scam to better understand it. She is the front person. She gave me an Account # A346 and told me to call 202-559-7639 to talk with her Financial Supervisor who would proceed with the transaction. I guess in America, this stuff is legal. But I thought the new Consumer Protection arm of the government was in full swing - going to protect us! What a waste...

I just received a call saying that I won a free grant and gave me this exact call back #. They asked for my acct # and routing # and bank name and my mailing address but didn't mention anything that I had to pay anything. What in the world is this??

This person named Nancy called me and said she was with the U.S government and that I was approved for a $7,000 grant. Then she gave me another number to call and said the guy in charge of my claim name was Jonny Snow. He told me all I had to do was send $350.00 via western union and they would send me the $7,000. They need to be caught by the FBI for impersonating a government offical.

A man with a very heavy accent called saying that he was giving a $9000 government grant, wanted me to give him banking info or a credit card to send the money to, i asked if he could send a check, he told me to go to walmart and buy a prepaid visa and call back an give him the number.

was told to call 202 697 9640 and give my money confirmation #.  was told to give $330 to western union for a security deposit.  I called back & gave the guy a major ear full.  told him if i could see him right now that i would slap the water out of him because i just was laid off last week.

I told them to have Barak call me.  I know it was bull.  How are you going to ask someone for 250 and tell them they won 7000.  why don't you just give me 6750.  they hung up.

She has a new number 202-470-0788.  Ms. Stella Adams said to take $250 to western union and pick up a check for $7800 and we would get the $250 back plus the check for $7800.  What a deal right?  NOT!  Scammer!!!  Don't fall for it.  First if it's a Grant, they are free!  You never have to pay for a Grant!  Big mistake!

I got the same scam call today, don't fall for it!

Just finished a lengthy call with a woman who "says" she works with the service of human health and services.... her english was hardly audible. Same story as everyone elses tho..... I'll get $7800 if I send a $250 deposit.... complete with grant number and I don't have to pay taxes on it... just a personal grant for having no criminal record, no bankruptcy and filing my taxes on time....... Wish It was for real.... and so does all of my bill collectors :)

I just got a call from the same number, Helen Page was her name, 7,800 and they wanted $250 deposit.... what a scam!!!!!!

i got the same phone call from a guy named neo  andreson this is a big scam and u would think the police would be able to track and arest the people dueing  this cause money is to tight for people to be taking it from people i hope these people rote in hell for there dueings

My husband was called by a woman named Nancy Smacth and told if he would go to a Western Union and then call 202-697-9989 on his cell phone and give them a certain grant # that she gave him that the U. S. Government would send us a check for $8,000, but they would keep a small amount as a processing fee, or some kind of fee.  I told him that this has to be a scam, why would the government just call and tell us that we were getting $8,000?  He said that the woman told him that we couldn't just throw the money away, that we had to spend it wisely, like on a car, home, home repairs, etc.  -- I haven't done this yet, and don't think I will -- because it smells like a SCAM to me!  -- May just call it to see what they ask me for . . . no way they're getting my checking account number or anything -- they can just deduct their processing fee and send the rest to me in a check to my mailbox and then we'll see if it's real or not . . . TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE!

victoria jones call me again. this time from a block number. she was mad that i doubt her. kept asking why i do not go to the western union. you don't want free money she kept on saying. when i started reading the messages posted her on the website. dang she hung up real quick.

Same thing just happened from the same number.  Stella Adams, $7800, Western Union, $200 to get the money from a government grant, all that has been said here.

some person name victoria jones call and claim to be the federal government. have free money and need to have 225 dollars wire to them and i would get 8225 back.

I received the same phone call today twice i didn't answer the first time because it was an unknown caller. I answered second time and it was a man he said the same thing i was one of many to win a government grant of 7,800 and that i was selected because of my good credit and no criminal history. He read back my name and address and phone to verity it was me he was speaking with he said in order to receive money i could use it for a list of things he name. and that he would need my account number and routing number to have money deposit in my account in 45 mins he said he would provide me with a number and a confirmation number that i would have to give to an offers to claim money. So i called them and it was a lady in the background you can hear other people with Indian accents talking to other like me like there all Indian room trying to scam others to receive money. She tells me to go to western union and deposit 225.00 in order for me to receive money in my account i need to do this first an in 15 mins it will be in my account. i ask is there anyway possible to get a letter from the government to prove this is real before i do so. she said there is no way they can provide that government will not do that. I told her well, i need so sort of proof i ask were is the money going she said once u get the money call back and another officer will help you there it where to send money to confirm your grant. i then told her this is a scam and im not buying it she hung up.
