This number called me and said I have been awarded grant money in excess of $7,000.  So I gave the lady my SS#, address, DOB, DL#, my mother?s maiden name, and my checking account #.  She wired the money to me immediately!

You may be saying "Really??  Of course it?s true!  There are no bad people out there trying to make a dishonest living of off idiots.  You guys are all so cynical.

Received a call from 202-729-0138, stating that I received $7000 free grant money but they wanted me to pay $300 in order for me to receive the funds. He even said, that I could deduct the $300 from the money they were gonna send me, and the would send me the remaining funds.

this phone number called me today, didn't answer, didn't recognize the phone number!

I have been receiving calls from this number for the past two months... And today was the first day (ON A SATURDAY) that someone actually spoke.  The caller seemed to be a woman from India, with a very strong accent.  Now, I'm hard of hearing and could make out only bits and pieces of her spiel.  So I reiterated what I thought I heard her say, which is the same thing most of you got who actually spoke to someone too.  That she is with the government agency and I have been randomly selected, being that I met 3 criteria.  One being that I have never filed bankruptcy, I continue to pay student loans, and I'm a US citizen.  ...WOW!  So, I asked why she was calling and not the department of treasury if this is some sort of legal government grant money that is tax free.  I also asked why haven't I received a statement in the mail about this.  And why am I supposed to believe her, when I can barely understand her (no hard feelings).  She offered me her branch manager phone number 202 738 1384 and my "government grant confirmation number of BE077".  Needless to say, I did try the number to see how far these people were willing to go with all of this.  But as we all already knew, no one answered... no departmental automated answering machine, nothing.  

And Jim E, you are right.  I think I will just have this number blocked.  There really isn't any other option from preventing these people from calling being that they already have our numbers and I really don't think they have a do-not call list that they check off.  However, I am impressed with the background call center noise that you could hear to give a better audio impression of this being a real thing.  WHAT QUACKS!!!!

Mean / rude scam person

Someone has called from this number several times in the last week.  when i answer there is no response.  When i looked up number in the white pages, it says the number is the home landline  of Travis Higgins.

They called me too and offered a $7000 grant from the United States government, Funny thing is she sounded like she was from India, and she had really bad telephone service I figured If I can afford a phone with good service The US government could lol...Anyways she did know my first name somehow??

I got a call as well. I looked up the number and saw this posting. They called back and I messed with them. He got angry and we started talking very harsh to one another. I guess he is not a professional.

I have experienced the same situation as everyone else. The lady can not speak English very well. She is also offering government grant money. I receive this call multiple times a day. SCAM!!!

This number (202-729-0139) called me daily, i did not answered the call, because I did not recognize the number, but when I finally answered the caller would not talk, hopefully these people get caught and prosecuted.

They've been calling me for weeks now.  I usually ignore the calls.  The few times I have answered the phone, no one says a word.  One time I screamed at them that if they weren't going to speak to stop calling me.  OBVIOUSLY, they didn't get the hint.  Well, they just called me.  A gentleman (and I use that term lightly) with a heavy Vietnamese accent told me that the US Government had chosen my name and phone number to get that same 7,000 grant as every one else.  I immediately asked him what the catch was.  I told him that our government never does anything for free, that there's ALWAYS a catch.  A-hole hung up on me.

Have phone co block number on your phone ,you can block a caller by setting up internal block on most phones,both cells and landlines-

when I answer I get no response. very annoying. when I try to return the call allI get is the person is not available. this phone of mine is for my convience not some pouge from DC.

Receiving 2-7 phone calls daily from this number. ( 202-729-0138)
Many different outcomes regarding this call.
1. You say Hello, they hang up.
2. Try to call back states not in service.
3. Try to call back get voice message and it does not take messages, then call again and again.
4.  I say Hello, they tell me I have free grant money, free loan money they want to deposit into my account, I ask to politely to please remove me from the calling list and they hang up.
5. I politely ask for a company name and they hang up. They refuse to identify their self.

I've been getting a "dead" call from them every day for almost a month now. Nobody ever answers. It's just silence for 2 seconds, then it hangs up. I'm finally getting around to reporting the number.

With the abusive language, threats and yelling, I think these callers are burned-out telemarketers.  This is how they are recovering from PTSD which happened while they were working collections accounts.

they call me from this no. 6 or 7 times a day saying it is the u.s. gov. that I have been chosen to recieve a 8000.00 dl. grant that I dont have to pay it back, do I want it deposited directly to my account, I need to give them acct. info. or do I want a debit card. Seriously.

This number called said from government that I have grant money. I said I am not the person you are looking for. She hang up and will call again later. Grant money from the government? this lady doesn't even speak will good English. I know from the beginning this is a scam.. So I hang-up.

This number called me n said that. i got a government pell grant. for 7000dallers. that i could us on anything besides gambling.  and they call ne everyday. i denied. giving them anything

This is a scam!!!  Will tell you the government has free grant money for you because you've paid your taxes and haven't declared bankruptcy.  To get it, you must supply a bank number or credit card number.  DON'T DO IT!!!!

I answered the call, they usually call once or twice everyday.
Upon answering they asked for Nicole (me) I said she wasn't here, and it appeared they had a fake Vietnamese accent, so I said some s*** in Vietnamese and hung up the phone.

This number called me said I received free grant money from government. I was skeptical because our nation is in debt and has not the necessities to be giving away money. But I went along with it and to my surprise they wanted me to western union money for a deposit to them for verification I said no thank you I knew this was a scam. They hung up the phone immediately beware people scammers are trying anything.

i was contacted from this number about being selected for a free government grant don't know how they received my information , but I was contacted more then 10 time

the caller called and had all my information where i lived, stayed, and etc. so i am now scared for my life that someone may try to stalk me or use information they have to their advantage
