A number oooooooooo called me and stated that he was from the us govt grant office, and he strongly stated again that every year the govt. Grants 1500 individuals for a sum amount of $9000, he provide me with a verifying  number(RC 363) gave me the number to call 202-738-1386, finance dept. That will deposite  the $9000, ONLY into a credit card or a debit card,...... and so I provide him with a fake credid card number and a fake 3 digit number. 10 minutes later he called again insisting for me to call the 202-738-1385 to claim my money.***
first red flag was his accent, he was from india, second I asked him what agency was he calling from, he said from the Grants of the Govt, all backwards, and so I played along and told him that im calling right now. To his surprised I heard a phone rang and when I said hello I can hear the echo and the feedback from my call on the other phone from his reciever, still I played along making him think that he was going to scam me. The conversation took about 3-5 min. Trying to verify the card number that I gave them and the 3 digit number, he said that the sum of money $9000 will be deposited in 45 min.
Lastly I told him that his voice was also being recorded for training purposes and he immidiately exit the call with out saying bye.
So please be very careful for this kind of scammers, never give out bank account numbers, credit/debit card numbers, and specially any pin numbers. Lets get all these scumbags out of commission.

Yes it is a scam.  They claim you have to pay a fee for the "grant" but have to use a Green Dot or other untraceable form of payment.  That is the dead giveaway that this is a scam if the fact that the Federal Government is in no position to just give money away was not enough of a clue.

You can read about this type of scam on the FTC website and report it to the number listed there:
