Thank you for posting this.  I got the same call today and also knew it had to be phony, but curiosity made me check the internet for information and I found your post.  Gotta love the internet for things like this!  (The guy got irritated with me too when I questioned him and said I can always hang up if I think it's not legitimate.  I knew it had to be a scam, but for some reason I needed to "know" I wasn't passing up something good--I too am in college and wondered just a tiny bit...)

Just got this same phone call. They asked for my son first, but he was not available so they said they would offer the grant money to me. Well I wasn't born yesterday.  I get 75 to 100 of these calls and also email a day. All offering free money. All I can say is nothing is Free.  Watch Judge Judy, she has people every night that think grant checks and lottery checks are free money.  Do not take good money to get ripped off.  This people have nothing better to do then mess with hard working AMERICAN family's. You better off just donating the money to a good cause that will help someone then sending it overseas to someone who doesn't respect Hard Work.

Same as the above.  Why is the US number still in service, that should have been tracked and the owners arrested long ago.  There are 50 cops waiting to jump on me if my turn signal is out, but no one cares that the same number is being used to scam who know how many thousands of people...

I just received a call from this number 917620744727 and yeah of course I knew from the beginning it was to good to be true so I told the guy to call me later because he was going to give me something to write it guess it was that code and number to call so be careful out there and I recognized that accent he was from India so 91 is the country code.

Prank Call
Just received a call from 917620744727, that was the only thing shown on caller ID. Did not answer, they left no message. Research shows they are associated with the old email scam of send money for ID/costs/etc, and they will release mega bucks to me. Apparently, their spoof number generator isn't working. 91 is the country code for India.

I've sadly been scammed before, and knew this was too good to be true. I actually got a call from # 917620744727 stating that I have been granted with 7g's due to paying my bills and filing taxes on time, with no criminal background.....
Then I was given the instruction to call 2027381667, and give my "approval code". In my head I was like sure, whatever man. L0L. I don't even want to bother calling the number given to me. Also, governments do not give phone calls about this kind of stuff. Big time SCAM for sure.

Yes the same thing happened to me. I'm just thankful that I am smart enough to know this didn't even sound right. Since when do we have to send money to get money and your right what gave it away is how they handle you asking Questions. The man was very rude!

Actually I at first received the call from (202)582-1234 instructing me to call (202)738-1667 about grant money that I qualified for. I am a student and I have applied for grant money and have been waiting to hear back from the application I had applied for on some grant money depending on if I qualified I could receive around that amount for school. So I thought it was them calling me.
They even asked me to validate my mailing address that they said I live at; which was almost correct. The only part of that which was wrong was they were lacking one digit of my address, and with out thinking I corrected them.
Then they gave me a code to use when I called to verify who I am again and a number for me to call.

When I called that number they informed me after the verification. I was then told to go down to the nearest Western Union and call them again. Once there they would give me information to send them $250 to prove I am the legit person, and once they receive the money, I would then be given the $7000 plus the $250... all in a matter of minutes...

When I asked then how they were going to prove to me they were who they were claiming... the man on the phone became rude, and said if I don't want the money, Fine! That they would just send the money back to the bank and have it given to a charity...and he hung up the phone...

It was the way he reacted when I asked questions, that made me look up on the internet this number...  I wanted to share my story and see what anyone else had to say about it...

I am hoping this will help someone from making a mistake and sending that money. Because it is a scam... you don't have to send money to the government to receive grant money...
