>> no answer after 3 tries.  <<

So, you tried calling the scammer back?
Really?
Did you bother to read the previous messages in this thread, ALL of which indicate it is a scam?

>> i believe it's been 2 weeks. <<
Do you mean you sent some money via green dot, and expected a $6000 grant in return?

Good grief!  P. T. Barnum was right!

I too just got this call. All they had was my phone number and name. I too was given the same number 202-738-4307 and was called from 202-738-2323. So I called them and they asked how I wanted my $7000. They asked if I wanted to deposit it into my banking account, pre-paid debt card or western union. I said western union. At this point they said that I needed to purchase a green dot card and put $299 on it to verify my identity. I told him that I couldn't do that twice, at which point he hung up on me. I would never give out my banking information to anyone that I didn't know who they were. Even if i had had the money I still wouldn't have given out that information. I have to say, don't fall for it.

I received a call from 202-738-2323 DC,USA I was told to call 202-738-4307 and give them my Grant Approval ID#...After I would complete the call with there "Finance Account Info" I would be able to pick up cash from a western union. I believe it's a scam! This should make news headlines to inform our fellow Americans of this predators.

I got the call today too. I actually listened to the entire thing and took the information down, simply so that i could report them. Knew it was a scam from the very begining. It is scary how much of my personal information they had though. The government will NEVER offer money. You can only ask for it and frankly, unless you are already very poor or involved in research or a non-profit, you are not getting. This is excluding school grants of course.

Prank Call
I received this call today and they asked me for my bank information so that they could direct deposit a federal grant. They did not have any specific information on me, other than what a background check might provide. I am a student and do receive grants for school, so to hear of a federal grant of this nature was suspicious. I did not give them my banking information and when I called the number back and asked for information about the organization because I was unsure of the creditability of the organization, I was hung up on. SCAM!

I hope she didn't!  It is 100% a scam!  You NEVER have to pay to apply or receive a grant!

As per the Federal Grants website at http://www.grants.gov

YOU WILL NOT BE CONTACTED BY THE GOVERNMENT TO OFFER YOU A GRANT.
The government does not contact people to offer them money. If you do qualify for a government grant, the government does not request payment for it.

THERE ARE NO FEES ASSOCIATED WITH APPLYING FOR A GOVERNMENT GRANT.
Providing financial information to prove that you qualify for a government grant is typical, but you should never pay money to apply for a grant. People who run scams often claim to provide help and sometimes claim to be "federal government" officials, don't be fooled by these scams that request money from you.

ALL GOVERNMENT GRANTS INVOLVE AN APPLICATION PROCESS
If you have not submitted an application for a government grant and someone claims you have been awarded one, it's a scam. Grant money is not given over the phone for a fee. In order to qualify for a grant you must apply for the specific opportunity that you are qualified to apply for.

GOVERNMENT GRANTS ARE AWARDED FOR EXPLICIT OPPORTUNITIES
Government Grants are typically awarded to states, cities, educational institutions, nonprofits and other organizations to fund research and other projects.

GOVERNMENT GRANT APPLICATIONS AND INFORMATION IS FREE
Be cautious of offers that ask for your personal information (especially financial) when requesting a fee to access grant information. You can always access free information about government grants and other benefits at Grants.gov and Govbenefits.gov

If you get this call, please report it to:
