Got a call this morning at about 8:45am from a strong accented (possibly middle eastern) accent saying he was with the U.S. Treasury Department. I didn't know they had call centers. Hmmm. He gave me a confirmation number and the number of a person named "Max Newman" to call with the confirmation. Said it was because I had no criminal record and had not filed for bankruptcy, and was therefore to receive a 9000 dollar grant. Knew this was a scam of course because for one thing the Government would do something like this by mail if they were going to do it, and not on my un-listed work cell. Called the number out of pure curiosity and talked to "Max Newman" who had an even stronger accent. Asked how I wanted to recieve my money, I said send me a check. Short pause, then he asked if the guy that initially called me had went over my options to recieve it, and I replied no. Then he hung up on me. Would not answer again. I called back like 5 times and let it ring because I was bored and hoped to annoy them. The number that called me was 202-559-7648 and Max's number was 202-738-4412.

I just got the same call saying I was randomly picked for a government grant in the amount of 7,000 dollars I suspected it was a scam they wanted me to either go to western union or give them a credit card to deposit onto I gave them one of them random cards to deposit onto just to see what information they needed the card is not even activated so I am not really worried then I researched and found everyone else saying the same thing, cam scam scam, how these people continue to get away with this sh** is beyound me this is extremly crazy.

These people give you a phony phone number to call back to speak to the Financial Manager, what a bunch of bunk. As I have been applying for scholarships, I thought it was authentic and gave them a CC to deposit the monies into, I have notified my bank of the scam. And I reported them to the FBI.

Total scam. Ask them for an address and you'll get yelled at. Tell them you're going to report them and listen to the filth they spew out of their mouths!!

I got a call say I have been random pick for a government grant 7,000. They ask me where to send it I said western union. They asked me to depoist 200 dollar and I would get that back with the 7000 dollars. I ask

My boyfriend just got the same call and its a scam. i told him and he didn't believe it was so did a little swearchng and bam. you girls are saying exactly what they told him scam scam scam

I received a call from them this morning saying that I was awarded a grant for $7000 that is tax free and I wouldn't have to pay it back. The catch is having to go to Western Union to send $200 to someone whose name they will give me to be used as a security deposit then the $7200 would be deposited into my account. Yeah right.
