The only legitimate avenue for government grants is through www.grants.gov which is the official US government webs site for grants.
From their FAQ concerning fraud:
http://www.grants.gov/web/grants/support/general-support/grant-fraud.html
Please note the following:
No government grant-making agency will make phone calls; send email or letters to solicit money or personal banking information from a potential grant recipient.
There are no processing fees for federal grants.
Federal grants are not issued for personal use, but are intended for institutions and non-profits to carry out projects with a public purpose.
Know who you're dealing with on the web. Scam artists will often post a website with a name similar to a legitimate site.
If you have provided personal banking information to anyone claiming to be associated with a Federal grant agency, call your bank immediately to prevent unauthorized access to your account.
If you receive a call, mail, email, FAX, or any other form of communication soliciting you for a grant, STOP.
It is a scam.
Report it to the FTC:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0113-government-grant-scams
File a complaint with the FTC. If you think you may have been a victim of a government grant scam, file a complaint with the FTC online https://ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ , or call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357); TTY: 1-866-653-4261. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure online database available to hundreds of civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

I received a call from this number at work and I work for a federal agency. Needless to say, they have only called and threatened me on my cell phone since then Because I did inform them they were being recorded on a federal phone. All calls have the potential of being recorded. I notified my superiors so they are monitoring all of my work calls. They called one more time on my cell. I haven't heard from them in over 3 weeks.

I got two calls in a row from this number. When I called back, I was told the number is for a company that sells loans, and then was asked if I need a loan. I said no, and the representative promptly hung up.
This is the latest in a series of calls I've gotten from sketchy cash loan providers after someone (apparently) requested information about a payday loan in my name. If someone calls you from this number requesting information from you, I highly recommend you contact the authorities.
| Tamianth 2013-09-20 23:40:57 Unknown |
Nope, not even close. Numbers are spoofed with legitimate business names and numbers all the time. You don't pay for a grant or a loan. The later being illegal to even asked for. Grants have to be applied for and you still don't pay for those. A cold call saying you get a grant is a scam. Reports should be made to the proper authority's depending on just which call it is..
Other posts here also say they have been called from collection agency's and Loan company's.. this number seems to have several scams working on it!
Nice try Shill..

Just another SCAM. They purchased your number/info and than call about BS ie restraing order, debt, buying drugs etc. If you purchased anything on-line ie pharmacy, videos etc that company has your info and then sells it to other scam company's. To stop these scam calls, you have 2 options:
1. get an app or block servive from your cell phone co and block their number.
2. The next time they call, answer as if you are a business and the person they're asking for no longer works there.
With the economt deep in recession, the number of scammers is increasing and no agency cares nor has the time to go after these scammers.......you have to stop these harrassers/scammers yourself

This is nothing more than a scam. They figure if they tell people they will be going to court if they don't send a payment, people will do it. This is just an intimidation tactic to scam people.
