On Jan 30 2013, at 1:17pm PST, a call came in from this number to my personal, private cell. I did not recognize it, so did not pick up. They did not leave a msg.

I have been receiving calls from these 'card services' telemarketers for over a year now. I have been blocking each number they have called with (over 35 at this point). And I have been filing complaints with the FTC Do Not Call Registry and the FCC complaint site, to no avail. I do suggest you all do the same, and do not talk to them or call them back.
But to really get some attention, I created a petition on the White House We The People site. Please go there and sign it, we have to get the word out any way we can:

Second phone call. I haven't answered. Thanks to all those who have reported this number.

More than likely the reason your cell phone number was called is because the "card services" scammers use a "robodialer' which calls different area codes and numbers at random. I'm sure they do acquire some information from other sources, but changing your number will do no good. The new number will come up in their sequence of dialing again. The method I USED, of wasting as much time of theirs as possible, has stopped the calls entirely. Once they find out you're wasting their time, the calls will cease! Try it. "AHS"

THEY CALLED I MISSED IT CALLED BACK WOULD NOT GO THRU
Julisan 2013-01-31 02:27:05 Unknown
You asked how they got your number- I found out 2 ways
your local phone service SELLS your number
as does - TRANSUNION, EXPERIAN, EQUFAX. If you applied for credit and a report was run- your information was SOLD! NOTHING your Attorney General will do- so dont waste time, DO NOT CALL wont do anything either- waste of time. ALL you can really do is change your number-dont apply for credit cards-and DONT answer any calls you do not recognize the number.
I told them I DONT have credit cards I still have gotten hundreds of calls-I simply see a number I dont recognize and blast my speakers if Im in the car I put the phone immediately to the speakers. I also have a can opener that has a farting sound, if Im home when they call I get it out and that is the sound they hear. Mainly I dont answer if Im not by my speakers or can opener- LOL

I have finally figured out a way to stop these ridiculous calls. I am a realtor, so I have to answer all calls. However, anytime it is one of these, I store in my phone as SOLICITOR CALL. Then next time, I don't have to answer, I just hit ignore. They never leave messages. I now have about 120 SOLICITOR CALL phone numbers stored in my phone - but I ignore them so they don't bother me so much. During a closing I received 3 SOLICITOR CALLS and didn't have to answer or worry that I missed an important call.

He said excuse me;
I answered REAL LOUD "LOTS ACTION, DID NOT EVEN HEAR YOU FART"

Barbara 2013-01-30 21:18:45 Unknown
Got a call....yelled hello 3 times and disconnected it....
How do they do any business if they are never on the line?
202 is Washington DC.....does that matter?
Dave 2013-01-30 20:34:12 Unknown
I got a call from this number just now and I rejected it.
There are so many scammers now that the phone companies don't even do anything about it.
The Do Not Call list is a joke - nobody cares and they just call anyway.
I stopped playing games with these jokers a long time ago.
Now I just don't answer the phone if it's from an unfamiliar number.
blake 2013-01-30 20:19:04 Unknown
they have called me 3 times and they just hang up everytime
northwestsuzyq 2013-01-30 20:03:22 Unknown
They also use other phone numbers, one being 636-422-0831. Apparently they get phone numbers from Craigslist that are listed in the above format. So don't put your number on the internet in the above format. Reporting the to your state Attorney General's Office will help put them out of business (or become more creative).

They call from a thousand different numbers. Card member services. Just wish they'd quit. Have att so i think its just random who the robo caller calls
JimC 2013-01-30 19:10:24 Telemarketer
Called my cell. It was a robocall for credit card services. These people use autodilaers to dial every number in an exchange, e.g. (202) 747-1103, -1104, 1105, so they will get you even if you have unlisted and/or cell phone numbers. These outfits do not check the Do Not Call list and often "spoof" the caller id.

I didn't answer but got repeat calls on my cp
FED UP 2013-01-30 18:48:27 Unknown

How in the hell do these companies make calls from "non-existant" numbers? This is very frustrating, and completely flauts the do not call "law", which is apparently useless and toothless anyway.
Lynn 2013-01-30 18:36:15 Unknown
I get calls from this number, they don't leave a message, when I try to call them, I get the message, the call cannot be completed.
Goodbygirl 2013-01-30 18:33:04 Unknown

Pare10s 2013-01-30 18:26:11 Unknown
I just rec'd a call from this number and immediately hung up as soooo tired of unwanted calls and solicitations. I keep receiving calls on a daily basis re: lowering my credit card rates and always ask to be removed from their list. They continue to call (always from a different phone number however, name of person is always the same) and wish I knew how to get rid of them. HELP
charles rowland 2013-01-30 18:13:38 Unknown
they need to be stopped

Hi This is Rachel calling in regards to your credit card new interest rates. I hung up
rec 2013-01-30 17:49:28 Unknown
This is a total scam. They want your personal information to rip you off. Nothing I have done (and I've thought of many things) has stopped them from calling me. They are morons and you can't talk sense to a moron.
Susan 2013-01-30 17:38:22 Unknown
Called several times on my cell, but left no message.

202-747-1103 called my verizon cell phone on jan. 30, 2013. Hung up before I answered.
Judy 2013-01-30 17:32:32 Unknown
this guy Jack answers his phone "SSC"
call the number listed and get info- he says there us an "investigation going on"
lets all call and give him hell
Jessica2013 2013-01-30 17:29:59 Unknown
I did the same thing- if you pretend like you're interested, but then start the barrage of questions they don't want to answer....they will hang up on you. I just don't like that they got a hold of my personal cell number- I've been very careful and cautious about who I've given that to. So, what I'd really like to know is what company sold my information.
Jessica2013 2013-01-30 17:24:39 Unknown
Exactly! I really hope that people don't give any personal information this place is so obviously a scam. They have done the same to me.
