Called again today, something about lowering my credit card interest rate. This time when I pressed 1 someone actually answered and ask me if I was responding to a 0% interest rate offer. When I said they called me and I asked what credit card they were talking about they hung up on me. I tried calling back but mail box full message comes on and then it disconnects. Very annoying.

The number showed up on my caller id. I couldn't reach the phone in time. They left no message, and all my numbers are on DO NOT CALL list. Why are these people still calling?!?!?!?!?!?!
Rob 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
No, they aren't phishing. They negotiate your credit card rates down or roll your high APR cards into a low fixed rate. If they where phishing, they wouldnt use live reps. Also, this number appears to be a general outgoing line. Ive seen a decent number of complaints about sales of magazines and other products. Most likely this is a service that uses a call list to call and route customers to call centers. While I dont agree with what they are doing, it does appear to be legit. Also, remember, you phone number has to be listed on DNC for 30-60 days to get removed!

answered the phone. nothing. said "HELLO-O-O-O!" very loudly and the cheerful, young woman automated message came on wanting to lower my credit card rates. I listened to see if a person would come on and I got the options to press 1)to speak with a representative or press 2) to refuse this incredible offer before it expired. I pressed 2.

I answered and no one responded, eventually got disconnected. Appreciate everyone's prior input so I can code this number a time waster.

Yet another number phishing for cc information! I also got a call from 202-747-7345 with 'Washington DC' in the caller ID. I didn't answer it; they didn't leave a message. I checked the internet, and found lots of sites with this number listed as one used by scammers marketing lower interest rates. In the last couple months, I seem to be getting these calls with increasing frequency from all different numbers. I no longer answer the phone unless I know who it is. If it's important, they'll leave a message!

Said they could help lower my credit card debt. I hung up. It actually said "Washington, D.C." on the caller i.d.

Got a call from this number at 10:16 AM. Listened to the pre-recorded message, chose option 1 to get a live person. Representative came on and asked how he could help me. I said "I don't know - you called me."
He said "Do you have more than $5,000 in credit card debt?" I responded "No" and the line went dead.

What's the deal here, just another scam?
Zena 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
Call every single day but leave no message. I don't answer it.

This number keeps calling me! It is a recording saying that "This is a call from YOUR credit card company. YOU have a chance to lower YOUR rate to 6.9%. Time is running out so this will be your last call..." Last call? yeah right they have called almost everyday for the last week! This call is very generic as they only say things like "YOUR" credit card company. They never identify what company or who the call is actually for. I am too scared to push any buttons to connect to an operator because of previous phishing scams where doing so gives them access to your phone to make long distance calls. But it does seem that after reading previous posts that this is not that kind of scam.

Anonymous2 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
recorded announcement called themselves "Credit Card Services", that my credit card rate was expiring but since you have good credit we'll renew you @6.9%. after pressing 3 man answered "Credit card svcs". When I asked what credit card he represented, he hung up. I wonder if the newspapers can do a piece on these creeps?
Mimi 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
This is a scam to try to get your credit card numbers and your SS#. Just hang up, don't answer the next time they call. Never give any info to people who call you, especially if you don't know who they are. It's Bogus.

They called me saying they could lower my credit card rates to 6.5%. When I asked which credit cards, she said Visa /Mastercard. I ask what the name of those were, she got nasty and hung up. I feel it is a ripoff to get information on your credit cards.

keeps calling but leaves no message. We are on the do not call list but they keep calling anyway. How can we block them from calling?
Don 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
Same as most but the recording I got when I tried to call back was that they don't accept messages.
Ann Nonymous 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown

Bud 2011-06-06 20:41:50 Unknown
I love this, when they call, if you can answer the call, push the yes number and when he or she answers tell them " why yes I want to lower my rates of course" but then say "I'll be right back someone is at the door" put them on speaker phone if you have it, I did this and for ten minutes I listened and could hear children playing in the same room. She finally said "someones playin tricks" I then said she is a crook and didn't want anymore calls. She became angry and yelling and then I hung up. Please waste their time as they do yours if at all possible.
