they scared me too!
I was actually falling for it and walked out of a lecture because I was so worried...

I was falling for it until they told me I would have to pay them at CVS?!!!?!?!?
I then told them that I think this was a scam and the guy got angry and said

"okay. well, you're going to be the one behind bars. You are trying to make a joke out of the IRS" and I just said okay...and they hung up.

it made me so mad because I was so worried, I am a college student and almost called my parents to have them send me the $1,800 that these a holes were asking for

did you inform the scammer about you working for the irs?

If you tell them that you work for the irs and know that you must provide an ID number and so on...that would most likely stop the calls..
they will see that you are not the best target since you aren't falling for it..
they are looking to make money and are looking for gullible people. they have thousands of numbers to call so if you make them believe that you are not going to fall for it, they will move on.

Oh my goodness! I received a call from this so called Mark Johnson. The number was 202-751-2536. he also told me that he was from the I.R.S Legal department and that I was going to be arrested for tax fraud. I asked him when and where this occurred. He told me that I needed to call the same number back and it would be explained to me.. When i continue to ask questions, He told me that the authorities would be at my house in 30 minutes to arrest me because I thought it was a joke. The sad reality is I WORK for the I.R.S. We don't make calls we send out certified  letters. A phone call is the last resort in contacting people. We also work 9 to 5 there are very few calls made after that time unless other arrangements were made by the party that we're attempting to contact. Also we have ID numbers that we have to give when we're handling tax issues. This way if you ever had to call back, they can identify who you were speaking to. See we have three Jeffery Walkers in our department but our ID numbers are different.

Received a call from "Ron Davis", who said he was with the IRS, and that I had a legal application filed against me for tax fraud.  I asked him for his phone number (202) 751-2536 ... He started to talk further, but I interrupted him, and asked that he again tell me why he was calling, which he, again, said " ... a legal application filed against me for tax fraud."  I asked him if the IRS has sent me a letter regarding this, and he said "yes, but it came back  ... addressee unknown."  I asked what SS number they showed and he advised " ... I can't give you that information.  You ARE _______ (name), right?"  I said "thank you for the information, who should I speak with when we call back?"  He said, YOU are going to call us back to take care of this, right?  I informed him that he had reached a law firm, and that one of my attorneys would call them back and get the information, etc., they needed to take care of me and this potential problem.  He said "okay" and hung up.

This is a fraud......

Just got a call from the Internal Revenue Service under that number

I have received phone calls for weeks from this number and haven't been able to answer and assumed that they were fraud since it said Washington, DC, so I blocked them, they've found other ways to call since and today I was actually able to answer. They scared the ever living be-jesus outta me claiming that I have tax fraud or have filled improperly (can't remember) and will be contacted by my local police to be arrested if I didn't cooperate and call a number provided...which was the same number they called from and I would speak with either John WIlson or Brian Taylor who were either from the IRS or a Deputy. Thanks for having this forum on it bc I was scared to death. When I started asking how they knew my information, they asked if I was in my right mind. Pretty sure that's not how I would be talked to even if it were the IRS. They kept breaking up, so I told them and the guy got mad and said "fine, you'll be contacted by your local police" and hung up on me.

I just got the call.
Broken English, Tax fraud, etc.
I didn't answer b/c I did not recgonize the number.
He left a message saying I needed to call him before I got arrested.

Call came in from 202-751-2536 and a message was left that his name was Mark Johnson from the Legal Dept of IRS and that they had received a letter  with my name (stated my name) and social (did not give a social security number) letting them know that I was involved in tax fraud and that I needed to call that same number back and work with them before I got into any more trouble..  Man used very broken english and had a foreign tone to it.  Kinda scared me till I started reading the blogs....didn't know of any tax fraud that I could be charged with but you never know in todays world either.  Will block the number and try to get the word out locally about this so nobody gets drawn into their scam.  Thanks for the blogs and post 800notes!!

...i was on the phone for 20 min. With this scumbag...when i told him i think this is a scam, he got mad, i told him i would contact the irs directly and give them his information and he just angrily said okay and hung up...i was already about to send the money too...when he said to pay it at cvs, i knew it was a scam. I was so worried because he was saying i had warrants out and i would be arrested if i didnt pay.

I received a call from them this morning and a friend put me at rest she said it was probably a scam because if the irs needs to contact you they do it through the mail they would never call you.

I have been doing research and im amazed at how many people pay money to these scammers....its so sad!

A middle eastern sounding man called me and told me to send money through cvs to him because he was with the ors and i was being audited and would ne arrested if i did not comply....this was from the number 12027512536

I keep getting calls from this number saying it is the internal revenue service. Please let me know as reports of a scam keeps coming up.    Thanks, Joyce Crosby
