I get these calls every day. They are not actually a legitimate call from the Romney campaign. It is a company that is using the elections to get your money, its called a scam. This happens every election.

This is definitely NOT a call from the Romney campaign, which does NOT block its number. No legit business blocks their phone number from your caller ID, plus does NOT come up as a "non-working" number when you call back. BEWARE!!! These are scammers trying to trick you into 'donating' $3.00 or whatever to what they make you think is a political candidate, but you would be donating to THEM, the SCAMMERS!!! Either block their number, if you can, or just don't answer.

Also, just so will know.....legit charities and political campaigns are allowed by law to call you, even if you are on a 'Do Not Call' list; they are EXEMPT from it. However, if you request that they remove your name and number, they will. On the other hand, a different solicitor group could call you for the same charity or exempt group, and you'd have to delist from their database as well.

I don't understand why the phone companies won't cut these scammers off!!!!!

I suspect this is a scam call. Raising $3 for Mitt with a low rent call like this one does not ring true to me.

Political Call
They called yet again. I am listed with do not call list, but it does not seem to matter. I noted that someone else said they wanted money for a Mitt Bumper Sticker. There are a lot of scam artists out there on both sides of the isle. Really bad stuff. Our political parties have enough trouble promoting themselves, and they do not need a scam artist representing them. I NEVER GIVE MONEY OVER THE PHONE> NEVER> One should only donate to those that they have checked out and called or make you own Bumper Sticker. Once the whole darn election thing is over, they are no good anyway. Everyone almost immediately start moving onto the next election anyway. It seems like no matter who the President or Vice President is, that they spen their last two years of the first term running to get elected for a second term. It takes 8 years to get your points across, so in my opinion, why not just have ONE term election for president for 6 years. It would give everyone a break. Parties need to change anyway,as it brings more balance to the elections.

I had this number on my caller ID.  When I called it back to see if it could actually be someone I wanted to talk too (with my number blocked using *67) there was no answer. A couple of months ago I paid $100 for a caller ID that lets me block phone calls by entire area codes, exchanges within area codes, or individual numbers and it has been worth every penny (I like it much better than my old blocking caller ID which had a 30 number limit and not such versatility).  When I received it I immediately blocked the entire 202 area code as well as all the toll free (800, 888, 866, 877 etc.) exchanges.  This might cause the need to tell businesses you deal with to use a non toll free phone to call you.  Also if you want silence and depending on how your extension phones are wired you may get a single ring on extensions unless you can turn their ringers off or use a special mode setting on the unit.   Friends and relatives can be programmed to ring through although I haven't tried that feature.  The spammers/scammers can use their whole lists of numbers and it won't make any difference.

Political Call
Got this one at lunch today.  They wanted a "modest donation of only $3" for Mitt Romney & in exchange they'd mail a bumper sticker.  Same as "da plumba" above.  I mailed $20 to the RNC a few months ago..hmmm... Anyway, "Press 9 to Unsubscribe". I pressed it.  We'll see if it works...

Call came in at 9:15am.  Recognized 202 area code as based out of Washington D.C.  Sent the number to my phones reject list after checking 800notes.com comments.  This site may be one of the most functional on the internet.

Same here... 'tis the season to get unidentifieable phone calls.
The FCC, FTC and phone company need to crack down on these scam artists by making them show a legit caller id, have an operating license of some sort, and really ALLOW you to opt out of the calls via their operations as well as the National Do-Not-Call List.  They need to close the loopholes-- create some real jobs for people to do real customer service.
Hope somebody who is computer saavy takes this advice!
