Called twice today. One minute apart. I wasn't home, but I never answer #'s I don't recognize. I never answer calls from (202). It's either a scam artist or a politician. Can someone tell me what the difference is? They called me a month ago. Optimum's block didn't work today, twice.
If you choose to answer the call or answer accidentally be creative. Tell them the person passed away a few months ago. I've used this ploy when I've accidentally answered. They will still rudely hang up on you, but they don't call back. ;-)

I have received several calls from this number. Upon answering, there is a slight pause and then an individual comes on with an East Indian accent. Says he got my information from a website that lists me as a diabetic. Ha! I'm not diabetic! They called recently as 5 minutes ago - told them to stop calling me and that they are engaged in medicare fraud. The caller denied my accusations and then hung up. GUILTY! So many people out there willing to do harm to others - they will burn in **** for what they do! Yeah!

I get these calls over and over but I have never answered
a call when I do not know who is calling. I do not give out
info or answer questions from people I do not know unless
I am the one making the call so they are just wasting time.
My number is registered with do not call, I wish they would
shut these people down.

So obviously they got your number from either your doctor, pharmacy or hospital. I would confront them also for giving your info out to these folk.

I have had the same experience. They call several times a week. The message says "apppointment". When I answer there is dead silence. No message no nothing. Why do they bother? No one has actually answered and tried to sell me anthing for a diabetic.
Bob 2013-02-15 16:57:34 Unknown

My Mother receives calls from this number numerous times a day starting as early as 6:00am in the morning for the last 2 years. They are Asian people (MEN & WOMEN) that cannot speak ENGLISH. It is very irritating as she is 82 years old and not in good health. These b*****ds need to stop. There has to be a way to stop this. If you find someway please let us know.

I have been getting many calls from many different numbers, this went on for months. I finally called the F C C and complained. The lady at the F C C took some numbers that I had saved and said they could do nothing on an individual basis but if they got enough complaints they would look into it.
Maybe we need to bombard the F C C to get them to do something. I have tried talking to the phone company and they say that they can't do anything. I am tired of paying good money for phone bills to have to listen to these calls.
I did receive a letter from the F C C It was signed by a Sharon C Bowers. The number to call is F C C consumer center toll free 1 888 225 5322.
Please call it only takes a minute or two and may do some good.

I have spoken to ATT, FCC and Federal Trade Commision. The last two government offices have filed extensive complaints against these callers. I am bothered for more than a year by them. Sometimes 2 to 3 times a day.

Many telemarketing calls like this originate offshore to skirt the No Call List. And that's why, if you DO speak to a person, you can't understand them. They use VoIP to make (literally) millions of calls, and make it very difficult to track down. According to a story on NPR the week of 12/21, the feds recently were able to close down one of these, but there are many others.
Not sure what the low-tech/no-tech options are, other than having a machine screen all your calls. Perhaps your outbound message could be, "Sorry I can't take your call, but due to the number of telemarketing calls, I am no longer willing to answer the phone. Please leave your name & number, and I'll call you as soon as possible."
Good luck!

Most of the scammers use spoofed US-pattern phone numbers but are actually calling from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, or some other country that doesn't consider scamming dumb Americans to be a crime and doesn't cooperate with US law enforcement. The ones that operate from inside the US also use spoofed phone numbers, laptop or tablet computers, hacked wireless connections, and cell phones. They are mobile and nearly impossible to catch.

Hello, why are not none of them in prison? Why doesn't the law enforcement close them down-and whom ever covers for them?
Blue Camaro- 2012-12-14 21:40:43 Unknown
Yes, Indeed-I received one too and possibly in the past-

I want no more phone calls to my number
Reported to Attorney General Office 2012-12-14 18:25:01 Telemarketer
My mother is 83 and keeps getting calls from this number. I have told them to stop calling. They call her all day and night. They said they were part of the diabetic association and asked her for her social security number, her medicare number, and the correct spelling of her name. She still has her wits about her and told them that she doesn't give personal information over the telephone. Still they refuse to stop calling. What stops them from calling is filing an online complaint with your state's consumer affairs department in the Attorney General's office. Our state provides online and we certainly filed today. Fraudulent callers usually disconnect and steer away from calling after they get a call from them. In most cases, the FBI will get involved. **I hope they get caught soon**
