+ calling every three seconds and not-communicating violates ALSO the 1984 telecommunication Act

_ALSO ALL ILLEGAL for debt collection:

+ sending invalid callerID number (zeros, nothing, less than 7 digits)
+ spoofing callerID
+ calling identifying themselves AS OTHER THAN a debt collection agency (medical study, insurance, lotto, political ad)

Call them to put them on notice that you own the number NOW _IF_ you don't owe any debt: they hang onto phone numbers FOREVER until challenged.

If you DO OWE debt, challenge them to "VALIDATE" the debt with an "ITEMIZED" list.  They must reply in 20 days or f-ck off.

IF your debt IS VALID retain an attorney: they cannot call you again after you provide attorney contact information.

PAY YOUR DEBTS: some of us don't appreciate buying a phone number with debt collection PARASITES attached.

MOST ethical collection firms can refer you to someone to STRUCTURE your debt PAYMENTS.

How do I know it's a scam?

1. Outside of the area code (legit Washington D.C. area code) ... the number comes up as invalid, which means it's false/erroneous (i.e., designed to deceive) = spoofed. All but the area code is invalid.  The number is probably spoofed.  And must be a scam.
2. The number is connected to Bandwidth.com (the carrier).  Bandwidth.com is a known VOIP provider and other scammers have used them for their scams and VOIP is the tool of choice for scammers!!!

Actual Washington D.C. Phone exhanges are found here:

http://phone.net46.net/washington-dc-city/latealphnumer.html

"810" is not among them! (only an "829, 844 and an 882)

D.C. Phone Numbers here:

http://phones.whitepages.com/202

And once again no "810" exchange!

3. The IRS has even warned that these are scams!

(Whether through email, standard mail, texts or phone calls ... basically the same)

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Don%E2%80%99t-be-Scammed-by-Fake-IRS-Communications

"The IRS receives thousands of reports each year from taxpayers who receive suspicious emails, phone calls, faxes or notices claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service. Many of these scams fraudulently use the Internal Revenue Service name or logo as a lure to make the communication more authentic and enticing. The goal of these scams ? known as phishing ? is to trick you into revealing personal and financial information. The scammers can then use that information ? like your Social Security number, bank account or credit card numbers ? to commit identity theft or steal your money.

...

If you receive a phone call, fax or letter in the mail from an individual claiming to be from the IRS but you suspect they are not an IRS employee, contact the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 to determine if the IRS has a legitimate need to contact you. Report any bogus correspondence."

http://www.irs.gov/uac/IRS-Releases-the-Dirty-Dozen-Tax-Scams-for-2012

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Taxpayer-Guide-to-Identity-Theft

"The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information. This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels."

The IRS has 800 numbers not local area codes (800 and 877) not the "202" D.C. area code!

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Telephone-Assistance

Besides where the IRS to contact any of us it would be through their local office!

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Contact-Your-Local-IRS-Office-1

Also:

http://www.sacbee.com/2012/09/09/4801450/irs- ... e-computer.html

" "It is highly unlikely that the initial contact with a taxpayer with a balance due would be done electronically," said Richard Panick, an IRS spokesman.

Taxpayers who do receive a call from an IRS agent are never asked to provide or confirm their Social Security number. The IRS already has that information, Panick said, explaining that taxpayers would not be asked to provide information that is included on their tax return.

"There are always new variations, be they email or phone scams," he said.

Panick advised anyone who questions the legitimacy of a communication from the Internal Revenue Service to call the IRS' toll-free number, (800) 829-1040.

? The IRS doesn't ask for personal and financial information such as PIN numbers, passwords or similar secret access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts.

? The IRS does not initiate taxpayer communications through email and won't send a message about your tax account."

http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tax-Scams-Consumer-Alerts

"Identity Theft Scams

The IRS has issued several consumer warnings about the fraudulent use of the IRS name or logo by scamsters trying to gain access to consumers? financial information in order to steal their identity and assets. Scamsters will use the regular mail, telephone, fax or email to set up their victims. When identity theft takes place over the Internet (email), it is called phishing."

and

http://arcadiapolice.blogspot.com/2012/03/weekly-tip-phone-scam-irs.html?m=1

"Don't think anyone needs to be reminded it is tax season, but we do want to make you aware of yet another phishing scam by phone.  Recently, a City employee received a call on a non-published line from a female caller claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).  The caller appeared not to know she had reached a City line and tried to solicit personal information from the employee.  The caller claimed there was a problem with the employee's taxes and wished to confirm her social security number and other information.  The caller hung up when the employee politely told her that her taxes had already been filed and the refund received.

Phishing scams by telephone are nothing new.  Thieves are always looking for a new or different way to obtain personal information from people and then use it to gain fraudulent credit, commit theft, and other crimes.  Many calls, like this one, are done randomly and the victim is not specifically targeted."

http://www.newschannel5.com/story/19510150/ir ... -east-tennessee

... " the IRS generally does not conduct direct surveys of individual taxpayers by phone.

IRS spokesman Dan Boone said scammers may be trying to trick people into providing private information or sending money."

http://www.timesnews.net/article.php?id=9051367

"If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be taking a survey for the Internal Revenue Service, hang up.

In the last two days, a Times-News reporter has received three phone calls at her home from a man saying he was with the IRS and wanted to conduct a survey on her experience with the tax agency.

The caller was trying to get her personal information -- and she suspected a scam. Her home phone's caller ID said "Unknown Number," and she could hear other people in the background, talking with other people on the phone."

... "The IRS advises people not to give their personal information over the phone, through the mail or on the Internet unless they initiated the contact or are sure they know who they're dealing with."

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/money/perfi/ba ... down/52903496/1

"Dozens of suspected identity thieves and others pursuing fraudulent tax refunds have been arrested in a nationwide crackdown aimed at reversing a sharp increase in crimes victimizing honest U.S. taxpayers, the IRS said Tuesday."

http://www.scambusters.org/taxscams2012.html

I'm almost certain these idiots are even calling people on a limited income (Social Security, SSDI, Welfare etc. - where no tax return is neceassary), those working part time and only earning 8-10 an hour too (under the level for filing taxes). These a-holes are after one thing personal info ... possibly including your identity!!!

"Can we say scam?...Yep! Can we say fraud? ... sure can! Can we say ID theft (or attempts at it)? ... Oh yea! We can!!!

'Calls' from this number = scam!!!

Have to say this, each time these brain dead idiots try that's one more time they make themselves bigger fools and look increasing more desparate and stupid!!!

Saw this last attempt on the blacklisted call list a few minutes ago. Gotta love services like Google Voice.

Guess these jerk offs don't factor in that ince we know it's a scam we'll never ever fall for it and the more rhey try (and fail) the likelyhood decreases a thousandfold! God! What idiots they are!!!

News Flash - The LAST organization I gave my phone number to was the Social Security Administration.

I have NEVER received any unknown calls from area code 202 in the four years I've had my current phone number.  My phone is an Obama phone, BTW.

Either the government been hacked or they're selling our phone numbers to reduce the national debt.

These a-holes carrier is bandwidth.com

http://2028101627.phone.searchwww.com/

A known service that other scammers have used!!!

Bandwidth.com = Internet based, Hosted VOIP, IP PBX

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bandwidth.com

http://www.bbb.org/raleigh-durham/business-re ... cary-nc-6039308

24 complaints closed with BBB in last 3 years | 15 closed in last 12 months

Interestingly enough... this also happens to be an invalid number (I checked to see if f it could be traced to any IP's at verifyphone.com and this is what I got):

"We're sorry, but we could not find any records for 202-810-1627. Please check that:

   * The phone number you entered exists
   * You entered a US or Canada number
   * You entered the full phone number, without the leading 1"

http://www.verifyphone.com/notfound.html?n=202-810-1627

Same thing when trying tnid.us ... invalid number! Which usually means it's spoofed!!!

Bandwidth.com = Skype and other providers of VOIP. Scammers especially like to use VOIP or VPN numbers to make them appear to be here  in the USA or in Canada.

LOL ... Caller ID displayed Wshngtnzn1, DC and District of Columbia DC

District of Columbia DC ? Last I knew the "DC" means District of Columbia! Redundant ID, LOL! And I guess "Wshngtnzn1, DC" is supposed to Be Washington DC. Guess these idiots were attempting to be clever!

I'm more than certain that this is a spoofed numbers by some illiterate scammers in some offshore boiler room and use either a disposable cell phone and/or VOIP service to make their illegal calls.

The service I use to block rhese kind of calls caught this one and it ahowed up on a call list in red letters that indicated this number was already blacklisted and they failed ro get through and ring my phone!

Gotta laugh though at their sheer desparation and stupidity!!!

If you don't recognize the number, don't answer ... it's most likely a scam (especially these days); check out call management devices like Digitone or services like Google Voice! Also let everyone you know that these calls are scams after your personal info and even your identity ... and yes, keep reporting them, get after the media (local, narional and cable), your Congress Person and U.S. Senator as well as the FTC, FCC and the FBI's ic3.gov! The more reports, negative exposure and informed our Gov. Officials are the more likely and hopefully sooner these scam calls will be stopped!!!
