It's the Republican National Committee, and they've done this to me as well.  Unfortunately for them my cell phone number is on the national Do Not Call registry and they've now been reported to the feds for violating that (I've been on the registry for well over 31days).  If you want to manually remove yourself from their "spam" calls, dial their membership services line at 202-863-8743 and give them your number.

Hi all,

This is jan again. I posted the above message 2 hours ago.. and had called a friend of mine who came over and listened to the message on my answering machine. She just called and said that the message is now being broadcast on the national news and is being reported as a pitiful scare tactic. So.. it appears it will be nipped in the bud! I do hope that's the end of it. I wish I had seen the segment myself.. but I was watching the news on another channel. Anyway.. hopefully those calls will be stopped. Keeping my fingers crossed!

In my humble opinion.. this is far worse than the 2004 'swift boat' attacks that cost Kerry the nomination. Islamic terrorists? Shame on them. The sad thing is that there are still a lot of people out there that will believe this kind of thing. The best thing we can do is spread the word!

I live in Missouri and just received the message that was left on my answering machine. Has this been reported to anyone who can take legal actions? I know it's just a scare tactic.. the Republicans are more desperate than ever. However.. there are enough 'not so bright' people in this world that it could sway their thinking the wrong direction. I'd like to know if it's been reported.. and if not who could I report it too. The message actually gave me the phone number that's posted here.. and said it was paid for by the McCain-Palin campaign and the RNC. This is beyond dirty politics

Please advise!

I just got a highly offensive - unsolicited call from this number. It was automated about how Obama has close ties with terrorists. Do they think people are really that stupid? I called back the number, talked to the "legal" dept. (option 8) and told them to remove me from their list....permanently!

Just got an automated call going on about Obama the terrorist, socialist end of the world blah blah blah. I'm on the Indiana no call list too and will report them. This is pretty low, *and* pretty insulting that they think some automated fear mongering recording is actually going to influence my vote...

Got the same call while I was on the other line. The only terrorist I see here is the RNC, disseminating lies and fear. With this type of agenda and campaign I hope these people are wholesale swept from office. It's like they took a page from the National Socialist party of Germany and adopted it as their playbook. I couldn't get anyone on the other end of this call so as to voice my displeasure, but my one little vote will certainly not be going to any Republican as long as they choose to employ fear tactics to divert the masses while they further line the pockets of the rich at the expense of the other 98% of America.

Same as Ed, I got the "Obama is a terrorist" call - This doesn't smack of desperation!
I'm in Indiana too, but mine wasn't a robo-call though.  It was an actual person.  A lady who could barely keep her sentences together.  I stayed with her until she finished, just to see if she could.  She did, even though she had to start over a few times.  At the end I just said 'Wow'.

When you register you phone number with the Do-not-call registry, you know right there and then and agree to the terms, that religious and political entities are allowed to call you. So, don't get upset.

This is such DISGUSTING garbage!!!!!!!  I cannot believe such a thing is allowed!  I think what needs to be done is some sort of new law, "Truth in Campaigning" and I am looking into how to promote it.  I feel invaded, and "dirty" for the experience of simply answering my phone.

Automated message from the Republican National Committee containing discriminatory and unsubstantiated garbage against the Democratic ticket. The stuff on this message is unbelievable, and the fact that the RNC is pumping this stuff into my telephone, I consider to be nothing short of harrassment.

I'm done. I've had such respect for mccain over the last decade.  I'm tired of him riding his military/POW status as his "badge of honor."  This call is disgusting. It COMPLETELY contradicts what he said on National Debate last night.  Is he so desperate? Is there nothing he won't do?   He is disgusting. And he thinks Sarah Palin should be president!  Is he senile?!  This man's judgement is so bizarre I think he would be dangerous as a president.  How the hell did he become this!?

I don't know if I can vote for Obama, but no way in hell am I adding my vote in with these people.  God help us if this is the best the Republican party can produce at such a desperate time in our lives.

Sorry, Sabrina, but you're mistaken.  The national "Do Not Call" registry applies only to commercial solicitors.  It specifically allows political phone calls like this, even to numbers on the list.

Unfortunately, I answered the call and listened to the message.
The tone of the voice was full of urgency and that voice immediately started spewing  nonsense, smears and innuendos. It was really upsetting. I felt like I was being violated by a hate group.  Then the voice stated that this message was from the...  RNC?!

I used to like McCain but this stupid and desperate campaign of his is pathetic.

For you own sake, please don't answer any calls from this number.

They left an automated message on my answering machine.  Did not get the first part of the message because the robot talked over my greeting.  What I did hear was so over the top that I wondered if this were a group masquerading as the RNC trying to outrage voters who would be so disgusted they would vote for Obama in spite.

If John McCain actually approved this message, then his campaign is truly desperate.  It is sad to see John McCain, a man I have always greatly admired, allowing his surrogates spread this kind of filth.  He might rather lose the presidency than lose a war, but apparently there isn't much else he wouldn't do to try to win the presidency.  And to do it by proxy isn't very honorable either.
