I got similar message from this number asking me to call back about my back taxes. If either myself or my attorney did not call back there will be sending it to law enforcement.

I got spam call from this number indicating that he is from IRS. 202-888-0169
I got the same message, a Indian and British sounding guys left threatening message purportedly from IRS asking me or my attorney to return the call. talk to couple of people everyone's last name was SMITH. needed to pay fine in an hour if not cops will show up next morning with arrest warrant.

I have received several times the same saying calling from IRS and returned the call. Its a SCAM

Got a call and someone left a threatening voice message like the below. :

If you don't return this call or if your attorney doesn't contact us, you are in very big trouble. Things will start getting worse in few days.

Tried calling the number from an unlisted number, as nobody answered and the mailbox was full.

If u get a call from this number, ignore it!!!! This is a fraud!! The man pretended to be from irs and said I commited a crime and I will go to jail if I didnt pay $4000.

I got several messages & I call back today which I shouldn't have.....  I ended call saying I am reporting this number to police. I bet this guy is in other country trying to do some stealing online..,,

English guy calling from IRS "uncle Sam" about not paid taxes. I think, this guy is trying to get all personal information like SS... & others.....

Total scam.   These people are Indian scammers/extortionists.  They pick on single women, single mothers, the elderly and the recent immigrants.  They also call members of the local Indian community.  Total bad actors.  IRS will never initiated a contact by either phone or e-mail.  They will contact you by mail only.   Most IRS agents are more than happy to work with the taxpayer to resolve issues.  Tax issues are almost always civil in nature.  Police and Sheriffs are never involved.  Tax payers are never arrested for civil federal tax matters.   Don't let them scare of fool you.

Call blocker is your best bet.  Don't answer calls you don't recognize.

Got a call from this number.  It was a recorded message about IRS/Tax audit and threatened that I call back or to face serious consequences.  Didn't provide the name or the call back number, just the organization - US IRS/Tax audit department.  Looking at the previous messages on this forum, as tax due date is approaching, scammers are focusing on tax and would think it will continue until.  Sounds so stupid and very annoying.

Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. Other characteristics of this scam include:
Scammers use fake names and IRS badge numbers. They generally use common names and surnames to identify themselves.
Scammers may be able to recite the last four digits of a victim?s Social Security Number.
Scammers spoof the IRS toll-free number on caller ID to make it appear that it?s the IRS calling.
Scammers sometimes send bogus IRS emails to some victims to support their bogus calls.
Victims hear background noise of other calls being conducted to mimic a call site.
After threatening victims with jail time or driver?s license revocation, scammers hang up and others soon call back pretending to be from the local police or DMV, and the caller ID supports their claim.
If you get a phone call from someone claiming to be from the IRS, here?s what you should do:
If you know you owe taxes or you think you might owe taxes, call the IRS at 1.800.829.1040. The IRS employees at that line can help you with a payment issue ? if there really is such an issue.
If you know you don?t owe taxes or have no reason to think that you owe any taxes (for example, you?ve never received a bill or the caller made some bogus threats as described above), then call and report the incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at 1.800.366.4484.

Taxpayers should be aware that there are other unrelated scams (such as a lottery sweepstakes) and solicitations (such as debt relief) that fraudulently claim to be from the IRS.

The IRS does not initiate contact with taxpayers by email to request personal or financial information.  This includes any type of electronic communication, such as text messages and social media channels. The IRS also does not ask for PINs, passwords or similar confidential access information for credit card, bank or other financial accounts. Recipients should not open any attachments or click on any links contained in the message. Instead, forward the e-mail to phishing@irs.gov.

This caller posed as an agent from IRS criminal Investigation group and left threatening message that if I or my attorney don't respond immediately then God help me what will be bestowed upon me.

"In attorney off record to return the call. The matter at hand is extremely time sensitive and very urgent. Don't disregard this message and do return the call. Now if I don't hear from you or your attorney either the only thing I can do is wish you good luck as the situation unfolds upon you. Goodbye and take care."

The guy has an Indian accent.

Got 3 calls today left the following message all 3 times.  Gentleman has an accent perhaps Indian.

The case is going to court in couple of days, and if we can pay the dues with in couple of hrs , then there will be no arrest warrant or deportation. I told him, i can pay directly, and dont want to give my bank account or SSN or credit card.

I got panic, and this guy told me, to keep him on the cell phone, until i go to bank and withdraw money. He keep insisting that i should not put hold or mute the call.  I was texting with my hubby , while i was on the call with this guy, and found its a scam. good i didn't loose any money. i call IRS to report the issue.
