Keep getting calls from this number and other number that come up as out of area, unknown, etc.
Since my fax number is the same as my home number, I let the fax machine answer so, if there is someone on the other end, they will just hear the fax squeaking away.
Don 2012-11-05 02:37:46 Unknown
You sound like a telemarketer. Romney wants to cut FEMA and send the money saved to the state emergency management agencies. In other words, he really just trying to decentralize emergency management.
Don 2012-11-05 02:35:27 Unknown
But it's since Obama became president that telemarketing calls have gone back up almost to pre-DNC list days, and his wife is encouraging the spouses of active duty servicemen to seek employment as telemarketers. The Obamas see nothing wrong with telemarketing.

Ignorance of the rights that you lost does not mean that it didn't happen.
The National Defence Appropriations Act (NDAA) of 2011 gave Obama the right to EXECUTE anyone he chooses WITHOUT DUE PROCESS. Technically, they have to be "a terrorist", but that is left undefined, and more importantly, does not have to be proven in a court of law.
You no longer have the right to trial by jury, access to a lawyer, or even being charged with a crime! You can be detained indefinitely, and even murdered, at the whim of the President.
There! Now you know some of the rights you lost under Obama - and the current Congress.
Vote the bums out!!!
(For the record, I'm no fan of Romney either. I plan on voting, but not for either of those two, nor any other incumbent...)
Fedup 2012-11-01 13:02:34 Unknown
It's none of their damn business who I vote for. By the way, hope you Romney supporters don't live in any disaster areas. The hypocritical right-wingers want to cut FEMA and "privatize" disaster aid. Translation: "You're on your own and stop asking for government handouts!". Be careful what you vote for...
dj 2012-10-29 23:48:41 Unknown
Commies will vote for obama this year.
champdoran 2012-10-29 23:43:07 Unknown
No ID other than number and Danbury, CT. Answered the phone, heard 3 computer beeps. Coincidentally or not, last numbers in my caller ID started getting repeated calls identifying on their caller ID as me. Is someone spoofing numbers and mining my caller ID? Has happened at least once before.
Mark 2012-10-29 22:25:52 Unknown
In recent years, the federal government has not been seriously enforcing the DNC list law.
Mark 2012-10-29 22:23:56 Unknown
How do you know? It might be pretexters. If it were a legitimate polling organization, why didn't it have the name of the organization on the caller ID?
Mark 2012-10-29 22:21:36 Unknown
The Do-Not-Call List is the law. These callers are criminals. Criminals are not in the habit of obeying the law.
My answering machine has a feature that announces the number on the caller ID, so I don't have to get up from what I'm doing to see if it's from someone I know.
It's an AT&T machine, but I'm not sure which model, because I'm in another room, and most likely lots of brands have this feature, but first check your manual, because the answering machine you already have might have this feature too.

10/29/12
Mon.
Received call from this number about 5:45 p.m. EDT. It was during the height of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy. Did not pick up as did not recognize number on caller I.D. So now I see the posts about Romney/Ryan. Let me tell you as a life long resident of Mass, well remembering Romney as Gov. He's a scum-bag talking out both sides of his mouth and his r****m at the same time. Ryan's another scum-bag. Big Ayn Rand follower. Another phoney. She had an intermediary at the end of her life get her medicare coverage and social security. It'll be interesting if fat boy Christie of N.J. turns down govt. money after Sandy gets through with his state.

get a life; it's an opinion- and numbers without an ID or name are horribly unsafe and annoying, so she's venting-

Received the call (during a hurricane no less) and answered, but did not speak. They hung up after about 10 seconds.
Caller ID said "DANBURY, CT" (which is also in the midst of the hurricane).
Why would people be political polling during a national disaster?
Joe Yankee 2012-10-29 20:28:05 Unknown
Inconsiderate republican teleharasment trying to disguise itself as a "survey". How can these mannerless people think that acting in this annoying antisocial way would ever make me want to vote for them?
crash 2012-10-29 20:26:56 Unknown
Thanks for the info JS, that was very useful. And to answer another question above,
I found this on ftc.gov:
Political solicitations are not covered by the TSR at all, since they are not included in its definition of ?telemarketing.? Charities are not covered by the requirements of the national registry. However, if a third-party telemarketer is calling on behalf of a charity, a consumer may ask not to receive any more calls from, or on behalf of, that specific charity. If a third-party telemarketer calls again on behalf of that charity, the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000 .
So yes, political calls are exempt from the DNC restrictions. Most digital phones now tho have electronic address books, so you can save this number to the Call Block list on your phone.

Suzi - the "expensive" phones you complain about are basic Tracphones and similar types. The Telecommunications Act of 1934 created the FCC and established the informal policy of providing universal service to ?all the people of the United States.? In 1985, the FCC implemented Lifeline to help low-income households in case phone rates increased after the breakup of AT&T. The Telecommunications Act of 1996 codified the universal service policy - hence the universal service fund fee on every phone bill. The fees go into the Universal Service Fund, which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company, an independent, not-for-profit corporation. USAC manages Lifeline and three other programs that provide telecommunications services to rural areas, schools, libraries and places where it?s more expensive to provide access. Lifeline is available to recipients of low-income entitlement programs and persons living at or below 135 percent of the poverty line, which is $31,118 for a family of four in the continental U.S. (Some states have their own eligibility requirements.) The FCC forbids phone companies from charging Lifeline recipients the universal service fee.
More than you wanted to know, I'm sure, but facts are stubborn things. Also, there is no law prohibiting friends or relatives of the poor from giving them a pricier model and personally subsidizing their calls.

I was going to do it but you beat me to it. They are simply clueless.
Rob 2012-10-27 18:19:07 Unknown
I use my cable provider, as my phone provider, also--the dial out code is #60. That may work for you. Good Luck
Warren 2012-10-27 18:08:21 Unknown
Of course you want government guarantees and more entitlement programs you don't want to work for a living.

So sick and tired of these jerkoffs - every day - first my home phone number, 20 minutes lated my business number and then an hou later my cell phone. America Future Fund - left 3 messages on their VM asking not to call...no such luck. Also filed complaints with the FCC - as if that will do any good.
