He said his firm is in NYC. He also said he had the state attorney's office on the other line on a 3-way. When I asked that person to identify him/herself, Bishop said he would have to call me back. CAN'T SOMETHING BE DONE ABOUT THIS GUY!

I just got the same call 5 minutes ago.  He left a voicemail which I saved and will use against them to file a complaint with the FTC.  There are several scams like this.  They will go as far as to look up any public information and call those people.  They called my landlord, neighbor and grandmother once.  I just called back, blocked my neighbor and asked for Franklin Bishop.  When they asked who was calling I said it was personal.  She said hold on and hung up.  Please report these calls, its the only way to stop them.

Im not sure what posting this will help, but I just paid off my acct with " MR. BISHOP'S" office and he did send me a letter that actually looks legit. I paid just over 2k with my credit card and now I am praying to whatever higher power there is out the that I did not get scammed. I am going to call the actual pay day loan company I borrowed the money from and ask them if my account is actually with his office, if so well i guess im good, if not what can I do to get my money back???????????

I just got the same call a few minutes ago, on a loan that was paid in 2010.   I have documentation that it was paid.  He told me good luck when I told him I had the piece of paper to prove it was paid , and that 5 other supposedly law companies, collection companies, or government agencies had called about the same loan in the past 3 years.  All of them were trying to collect on it ,and said I would be arrested in the next 3 days.  I am so sick and tired of these scams.  It is always the same loan but a different law firm.  I have already been scammed out of money twice on this loan because I got scared and didn't do the research first.  This last time, I actually found some old paperwork where it was paid, called the company and got an updated verification in writing that the loan was paid off.  I wanted to be sure I had documentation when they call me.  Of course, they immediately got irrate and lost their professional composure when I told them I had documentation.  Mr. Bishop began yelling at that moment.  PLEASE DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE.  THEY ARE SCAM ARTISTS THAT DON'T WANT TO GET A REAL JOB.

Oh and I also called the Connecticut State Bar.  Mr. Bishop isn't even licensed to practice law in that state.  I have a feeling this board will have a few hits.  It is a scam.  If anyone gets the same call, DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR PERSONAL OR BANKING INFORMATION.

I hit enter by mistake.  Second, they will not give you documentation of the debt until you have already agreed to pay the money and have given your payment info to them.  Okay, so the district attorney is not my uncle but they didn't need to know that.  LOL!  What they did need to know, though, is I have previously filed complaints about this type of thing with the BBB and the FTC and was advised by the FTC NOT to pay them and to report it every time because they are looking for these people!  The FTC advised me in writing that this is a scam.  They cannot have an arrest warrant issued on a civil suit.

I got the EXACT same call, Confused!!  Lorraine at this company said everything above verbatim and advised me that I could take care of this. though, by paying $822 today by the time we got off the phone.  This is so crazy!!!  They said they had been on the phone with the district attorney and he said to file charges.  In this case, they're barking up the wrong tree since the district attorney IS MY UNCLE!!!!!  Absolutely bogus!  One, they took this information from public record and they are hoping that they will get some some poor consumer who really doesn't know any better.

I just got the same call a few minutes ago & tried to google the name of the firm. It was the same exact line that you wrote. The only thing I could think of was a pay day loan I paid interest on for over 2 years, 3 years ago. Believe me they received more that what I borrowed through the interest payments.

Just got a call from a Franklin Bishop, IV about a debt I had.  He left a message and said he filed with the court already, and that he also talked to the district attorney in my county and said there was enough information and evidence to file class b felony (our state doesnt have class b felonies) criminal charges for writing a bad check across state lines. He said he was sending the sheriff out to my house tomorrow with an arrest warrant and a summons.  He also threw in there that he didn't think I was a criminal and said I could take care of this by close of business today if I called him back. I have no idea who this guy is.  Said he was from the lawfirm of Bishop, Bishop, Protor & Johnson and said he was the lead attorney on my case. Sounds like a scam. Anyone had a call like this?
