This is not the civil servants it is a scam.  The State Police get nothing and have nothing to do with this organization. They were shut down years ago and are starting up again.  In the South there are organizations like this but NOT HERE!

Called; left no message.  I concur with those posting above: this is a fund-raising organization, not the CT Fraternal Order of Police itself.  The CT FOP gets a small fraction of what you donate, and in the process you might have given the fundraisers your credit card account number or bank account number.  Whenever I pick up the phone when somebody calls asking for a donation, I ask for their return telephone number so that I can donate after checking with the Better Business Bureau.  They usually hang up.  And I don't usually pick up such calls in the first place.

Don't give these private companies a penny. They do no good. By all means support the FOP. Send them your donation DIRECT.

This is not the actual police. It is a legal scam. Is is a PRIVATE, FOR PROFIT fundraising company that has paid the police to use their name. Approx 2% or less of funds go to help anyone.

Wow you all really dislike Police Officers, guess you've all been on the not so nice side of some officers...They're not ALL bullying morons. And  yes you can be rejected. Not EVERYONE is physically or mentally fit enought to be a Police Officer. They are  rather helpful in times when it is needed. Yes, they can treat you badly, but it has been my personal experience that if you treat them repectfully, they will reciprocate. Report the call if you feel that strongly about it.

Sometimes these people tell you they need bullet proff vests forthe officer, what a crock, when is the last time you saw a cop with out one. These people raise millions using Mitch Golds techniques, and then laugh in your face, the courts face that told them to stop. California during "Operation False Charity"  last year told them again, Missouri got a 450,000 judgement from them for committing fraud in that state. FOP Officer down foundation, police protective fund, it does not matter, they are all the same, they lie to you to get you to donate.

Some people are trying to protect other people like this program, www.badgefraud.org

This is a total scam, 90% of your money gets eaten up by the professional fundraiser, then they take half a million in management expenses for 3 members of 1 family. These people are taking money raised in the name of officers killed in the line of duty and are using it to fund million dollar houses and bentleys. Look up Civic Development Group is you want to see some of the riches these people aquire on the backs of dead cops. Its disgusting.

Mitch Gold knows all about the sales techniques they are using on you, they are unethical at best, and outright fraud at worst, not one single peopson that calls you from these companies is a cop, but they all say it all day long, this is so and so with the nashville police or the montgomery county sheriff. They sau things like dont worry, your not in trouble or anything when you know your not, they are trying to intimidate you and get you out of your comfort zone so they can move in for the kill on your wallet. They divert your attention with a great sounding program while they pick your pocket while you are in the ether of the pitch.

Dont forget if you get a call, get as much info as possible and post it to every site like 800notes so you can help to catch these people, your neighbors will love you, we promise. and call your local cops and sheriff and media, they especially hate these people because it is their kids they are taking the money from.

Never give over the phone, the guy on the other end is about 90% fraud 10% real program. Just enough to get you to give them unrestricted funds so they can spend it on diners at ruth chris steak house and booze. The fop is a club. The Officer Down Foundation is a scam. Similar, but the FOP is legal but I still would not give them a dime. I might buy a gift or two for the christams with cops or cops for kids, but I would give the toy, not the money. Plus I would feel better since I made it personal for the kid, cash is never personal.

Now we are monitoring this phone number too, look like a new one.

They also have a bunch of numbers under police protective fund.

http://www.pfcl.org/Officer_Down_Foundation.html

Dont forget to report this scam to your local police and media, they dont like this kind of stuff. These people are using fraudulent techniques and I dont think they can stop on their own. The courts in several states have not been able to stop them. I bet we can, and we can quick if you call your local police, sheriff and media.

Keep getting calls from this number. They ask to speak to the lady of the house. I'm guessing they think I'm a young girl so I play along and say she's not in at the moment and ask to take a message. They say that's okay. They'll call back. People can't even afford to keep their homes, pay their bills, and find jobs. Stop asking for money. Now is not the time!!!

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Connecticut State Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there?s information on www.ctstatefop.com, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Connecticut police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

Did the cop chose his career?  Was he forced to chose this?  I think I 'll ask for his home phone number so I can call him when I'm ready to retire to see if any of them would like to donate to my retirement funds.

Maybe you should have become a cop so you could get a full pension at a young age. Why don't you try becoming a cop.  (Im sure you couldn't hack it much less get selected) Try the job for awhile and then tell us they are overpaid.  It's not the cops fault you chose a line of work without a pension.

Yep...it is that time of year again... when the FOP, "Fraternal Order of Police" as they call themselves on the phone, call for "donations".
Sadly, only a minute portion of any donation actual goes to the FOP. The folks that are calling, usually from a call center not unlike a telemarketer center, are NOT even remotely affiliated with any Police institution, nor were they ever. In fact, these are typically guys that merely work a call center phone soliciting innocent, unsuspecting folks for their money.
Again, very little of the proceeds raised actually end up in the coffers of the FOP. I like having fun with them myself, and repeatedly ask each and every time they call, the percentage of money, or percentage of my money that I would supposedly contribute, actually goes to the FOP.
They hem and haw, clammer and studder, and eventually when you break them down enough it comes out....between 8% -18% donated goes to the FOP. The rest goes to the "expenses" related to the call center.
Needless to say, a far cry from what you are donating.

Please don't misread this, the FOP is legit and they do MANY wonderful things for organizations all around, however, the organization that they have hired are reaping a far larger profit than the FOP itself.

This is the Connecticut Chapter of the Fraternal Order of Police, calling for donations. It really irks me that these overpaid civil servants (paid with MY tax dollars) who retire with full pensions at a young age would call ME asking for MORE of my money! P****off!
