Received a call at dinner (of course), caller hangs up.

A medieval style punishment will teach them not to mess with people but the problem is these freaks are in hiding. Remove each fingers for each fake calls. So if they call 5 people today, remove 5 fingers. If they call another 5 people tomorrow, remove another 5. The only thing left would be their legs. Remove that as well. Problem solved. They should be dealt with in a manner that is beyond rude.

Strangely enough, it is best to not answer a call that you suspect.  Even the act of answering the call lets  them know that it is a valid phone number that they can sell.

Pressing 1 does NOT put you on the official "Do NOT Call List"!.  It doesn't even stop that company from calling you.

I received a call from this number today offering to lower my electric bill.

I am on the do not call list too.

I just got a call form this number.  there was a recording that stated to press 1 if I wanted to be removedto the list and then it hung up.  What happens if I presses #1 ????

Has called numerous times - I just press "talk" and press "talk" again.

They wanted to have me switch my electric company. I asked them to put me on there do not call list, which they said they would. I asked who they got my number from and they would not say. their company name was "gas and electric company". They said this was approved program from my Electric Company, But I doubt that.

Called and hung up on my machine.  When I called back, a robo-voice gave me the option of being placed on their "Do Not Call" list by pressing 1 (which is obviously BS).  If you stay on the line without pressing 1, it simply hangs up.

Called when I was out.  No message left.

This number called while I was talking to a Comcast tech about Comcast's terrible, no good service, and since I'd just waited 15 minutes and had to jump through robotic-voiced hoops to get to a human at Comcast I didn't leap to answer the incoming call for fear he'd hang up while I had him on hold, and I'm glad I didn't now that I see it was just a telemarketer.  Another in a series of telemarketers, who call here constantly.  I don't know why, we always let everything go to voicemail if we don't have some idea on who it is.  Why, oh, why do they bother?  Because the world is full of idiots who DO pick up the phone and give these guys money or their social security numbers.  And at this point, having been on the receiving end of an average of 50 or 60 phony phone calls a month on home and cell phone in the year 2012, I'm GLAD idiots get ripped off.  Darwin was right.

If everyone in the world just didn't pick up unknown numbers, the world would be a better place.  Happy New Year.
