I blocked this number and the other one. So, greasy slime balls started calling me via a no-name-no-number call, which I ignored. However, decided to put an end to it this morning.

Asian sounding dude on a very bad line ... Goood Morning!! I'm ???? calling from ????? (lots of mumbling to hide the origin of the call). Are you thinking of selling your home?

Me: Eh? Eh? I cannot understand ye. What? What? (Slime ball repeats his purposely unintelligible spiel). What? What? I canna understand ya. Just a moment I'll get one of the nurse's aids to talk with ya. Might be a few minutes because they are busy doing our bed baths right now...Hello? Hello?

Hopefully I will go on their 'no-point-calling-this-one list'

PS did not ask for me by name

I've just been researching a call that came in from someone. It is a spoofed number land obviously some criminal scam so BEWARE.

The idiots just spoof the same number, different area code. Mine came from Ontario (416) but otherwise the same number. I've blocked these criminals in the past. The fact that they have just switched to a different area code says it all....doesn't it?

CRIMINALS.

Well, its been a small bit since anyone said anything about this number.

Got a call from this one last night.  No message left but by the looks of what everyone posted, sounds like a new scam.  Reported since I'm on the DNCL.

Answered phone and nothing. Added number to blocked callers list.

As a Canadian, I am saddened to read such racist comments. Instead of being rude, state as we are told to. "I am a do not call list so cease and desist" and then hang up and block if you can.

Called this afternoon saying from a real estate company - they have no right to call - aren't dealing with me for any reason - so definitely against the Do Not Call rules - called me by last name but no Miss/Mrs./Ms./Mr just I'm calling for "Doe" type of thing.  Very hard to understand.

"Their cultures"???
Seriously? I was totally unaware that all telemarketers with an accent originate in the same place!

Also....If only I knew I could attribute all telemarketers with an accent to Pakistan, I could have simply filed a complaint with the whole country!

Newsflash! Telemarketing and telphone scamming do not need to be geographically grounded anywhere....it's kinda the point.

The only reasonable generalization you can make about these people is that it is not society's privileged that must accept these jobs. As such, there are a disproportionate number of immigrants and ethnic persons that work in these places and yes....some of them have accents. Further, it's your own noble, "Canadian" companies that are too damn cheap to pay locals to work these jobs and your own non-accented, "Canadian" citizens that typically feel far too superior to work them...

The calls may be from abroad sometimes, but the problem is definitely domestic in origin. Think. Who is paying these people to do what must be one of the world's worst jobs?

If we didn't act like ultra-consumerist, materialist clowns all the time, people wouldn't constantly be badgering us to make a buck (this totally includes "surveys" as well since even survey companies are ultimately in business to make money).

If we want people to stop tapping us like a money-well, we have to stop presenting money to people like we are money-wells.

I can only imagine the "streets paved with gold" stories these boiler-room do***ebags subscribe to...

Look at how gullible that Montreal survey idiot is and he apparently originates in the "developed" western world...

Just a fact to state here, as far as I know these calls are not coming from India but from the country in the region of south Asia, to name the country, it is Pakistan, they use VoIP technology. One of my family member work for on one of CBC's consumers affairs programming, and that is what their conclusion was. So calls come from Pakistan . India's telemarketing and call centre business association dislike this sort of behaviour and disapprove it. For them it is like shooting their own foot. This is just to enlighten the masses about these kind of cold call, who are the perpetrators of the offences.

I have never spoken to an Indian person that has not been a rude cold caller annoying my day.

I hate to be stereotyping... but it's just the truth.  As soon as people hear that accent it you know it's...

'one of THEM!!!"

I don't' care who someone is.. But come on..can't you see the facts that are put under your nose by that very 'culture'.

When was the last Asian cold caller you heard from?  Or russian?  Dutch?  etc....
Are you seeing a pattern here?

Well you're a real nice piece of humankind aren't you?

Let's all listen to the world-renowned expert on "cultures".

The only culture you know about is the crap growing under your toenails and in your groin.

Yes, these calls are annoying but... WTG trying to insult a whole collection of nations/cultures/people groups you know absolutely F*** ALL about.

Same story. Told him I wasn't interested and not to call back. He told me he was going to sue. Called him a pig and a swine (a grave insult to people from their cultures) and joked that he could never find the money to fly here to sue me. Laughing now to think on it. Inhuman third world scumbags. Blocked his number.

A person with an accent called saying they were frommCanadian Lifestyle. He said henwasn't selling anything.
He then said he wanted me take a short, less than one minute survey. He asked if he had interrupted me and I said yes. Didn't answer any questions, and hung up the phone. The evening before a woman called  from another number and I heard the same man's voice in the background saying to the woman, Do you want me to take your computer. I am on the do not call list yet Imstill receive numerous telemarketing calls. Will check and see if I'm still registered on do not call.

Interesting thing about this number. When you call it they say it's not in service.
When they called, I answered they hung up.  I wish they would stop calling.

A fellow with a very strong Indian accent called and said that he was calling from the Canadian Lifestyle Centre in "OatWa" which I take it was Ottawa. Rathrer than offer profuse obscenities I decided to humour him. When I asked where it was he said on a street whose name I could not recognize. He asked, if I knew where it was and I think he tried to tell me where it was. He asked if I would do a survey that would take 30 or 40 seconds so I said sure.

He said that I sounded young and asked if I was under 50. I said no so he asked if I was under 70 and I said yes. Then he asked if I was working or retired, and I said retired. He asked if I had a mortgage and I said no. Then he asked if I had life insurance and critical accident insurance and I replied yes to both. He said that was all and wished me a good day. I assume that he was filtering respondents to find those worthy of a sales spiel for loans or insurance and I trust that I am not worthy.

Has called our phone everyday for the past five days...never a voicemail and when I try the number it says it is not in use.  Someone really has to do something about these slimy greasy parasites.  I'm not going to have a phone much longer, it's ridiculous.  I'm one of those people who only give my number out when absolutely necessary and it ticks me off that anybody can get it.  Privacy does not exist any longer.

Survey
Same thing. The caller spoke a bit unclearly with an East Indian accent and had a presumptuously offhanded manner, as if he had every right to call people in their homes and ask questions. He didn't even introduce himself but started out by asking to speak to my wife or I, mispronouncing our names. When I then asked who he was, he explained casually he was doing a short survey for "Canadian Lifestyle Centre" (whatever that is), which would only take 3 minutes of my time. I told him, "Sorry, I don't have time for that now," and he rudely hung up without another word--as I was saying "Sorry" again. The organization is very likely bogus, and I couldn't find any information about it online, but I'm curious what the scam is.  I'm also annoyed at myself for being polite to jerks like this and even considering talking to any callers at all unless they're with organizations I know (e.g., the Diabetes Association or Big Brother organizing pickups of used stuff). I think from now on I'll just answer any questions about my identity with, "It's none of your business who I am," and any mention of a survey with, "I don't do phone surveys. Bye." If the person doesn't have a very polite manner, I might substitute "F*** off!" for "Bye."  :-)

I'm immediately suspicious about the number...like how special would a person have to be to get a number with 4567 in it. Exactly!!
So I dialed back after letting the call go to voice mail. You got it..."number not in service". This means that the number is spoofed. Apparently the criminals from Asia who have been trying to scam us with the Microsoft thing are now switching to something else. And really 'Canadian Lifestyle Centre'! What could be vaguer than that? I'll eat my I-pad for lunch if their really is such a place and particularly in Brandon.

Survey

The man on the phone was hard to understand, had a strong accent, and had a lot of trouble pronouncing my name (I live in Quebec and I am french speaking). Said he was from Canadian Lifestyle something and had a survey.

Seemed weird cause when I get polled it's always in french. It was weird to me that he only adressed me in english and was unable to switch to french or connect me to someone who did speak french - which I would expect from a serious polling company trying to reach people in Quebec.

Also, called me twice the same day even though I hung up on him the first time saying I had no time.
He didn't leave a message the second time.

I tried to look up the company and no results. Did a reverse phone lookup - based in Alexander Manitoba, provincial tel line, but no name of owner found.

Really felt unprofesionnal and unsafe, scam.
