The same thing happened to me. The number used was 8019804185, the email was reneemark13@yahoo.com. "She" asked me to email her for the list of products she wanted. I emailed her, and her response is below:

THEN I READ YOUR THREADS AND REALIZED I HAD BEEN SCAMMED. NOTHING LOST BUT MY PRECIOUS TIME.

I live in Texas and I received an email, saying this person is deaf and wanted to buy products for her daughter's wedding. She claimed she worked on a navel ship.  Even at first, my discernment didn't sit right with it. She is going by the name Amber Davies and claims she was in an accident. Her "debtor' accidentally mailed out a check to me that should have gone to her dr. Really?? I'm glad I checked things out on this website. She did intially give me an address in Austin to mail the items to, but I wasn't ordering anything until I had a certified check. Mary Kay consultants, beware!

I received an almost identical text from a Benny Willam, supposedly from Houston, TX.  The email was almost the same as well, offering me $20 to send the extra money from 'her paycheck' back to her.  If it comes in, I am going to report it to the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov.  This was suggested to me through a Mary Kay authority.

I just got the same thing. Her name was Sarah Jones though. She was also supposedly deaf. I was immediately suspicious and told her she'd have to send the check first before I could order it. I gave her a PO Box number to send to, but she said she needed my street address because FedEx doesn't go to PO's. So i said, then just send it thru the regular mail. Haven't heard back.
If these people would just put this much effort into a real job, they'd be rich already. Brother....

I'm an MK rep too, received a text message from 571-409-1660 on 2/25/2014 saying "I'm Lola Barritt, got your Cell # from MK Look Book. Need you to help me order MK. Text me your email address so i can send you more details". I wrote back, and "she" wanted the most expensive thing we sell and actually UPS'd me a check shipped from Birmingham, AL from some Alaskan Railway company for the "full amount" of "her" paycheck...I only offered to return the check and received no further information as to where to send it. Yesterday I texted back asking where to send it again, and got this in return: "Wrong number
Love Ja'mya"...I agree with something else I've seen in this thread: that's a lot of effort. Also, I wonder why I wasn't skeptical from the beginning that a deaf woman would have a cell phone...oh well. Live and learn.

I fell for one of these scams and I've filed a police report and I've lodged complaints on several fraud inspector sites. The number I received messages from was 406 282 1368, and I was instructed to Western Union a sum of money to a Cheryl Brown.

This person/people need to be found.

What did you do with the check?  I just received one for a little less than $2,000 for a Maria Taylor.  Same story as yours and I was suspicious so was going to send the check back, but my husband said just ignore it and let it go.  Thanks in advance for your help.

I burnt it - she is now arguing with me asking me where her order is. I told her the bank has a hold on the check and they called the local police because the addresses and names do not match. Now she is all upset with me LOL

This is for a set of Auto Racing Wheels I had for sale.
The texts came from 347-450-8631.
She asked the price (listed at $1400), I said $1500.
The answer was, no problem, I am going to send the shipping payment of $350 extra so you can ship them.

The check I received is for $4500.00 !!!!

I get these all the time, I have a collection of fraudulent check that no one seems to be able to do anything about.
I figure, unless the postage & shipping of the check is fraud also, I will at least get them to spend their money.
Then what I do is text that I deposited in bank & make them wait ... they text a few days later that they got notice that the check has cleared. I text back a few hours later that I called the bank & it has not cleared yet 7 the my bank is calling their bank to get it taken care of for me. Once my bank calls me back with the OK, I will send the funds out.
I usually never hear from them after that. If I do, I say the check did not clear, there is a problem, please call your bank.

I know it sounds like I am wasting my own time, but it is not that bad & I want them to lose something ...
that is until I can figure out how to catch one of them, then it will be all over the internet.

I received the same email with the same information.  I am suppose to receive her check tomorrow (even though I told her not to send it, that I couldn't help her).  I am wondering if I can refuse it from FedEx and it will go back to whomever sent it.  What did you end up doing with the check?

Just received the exact same text. Same exact wording. Same email from same number. Scam for sure.

Thank goodness I found this site. I have been getting emails from someone named Rita Mooney. Her email address is rita.mooney@live.com and she was deaf and wanted to order Scentsy from me. She wasn't good with computers and couldn't order it from my website.

Said she wanted to order Scentsy products for her daughter and ship to her daughter for her birthday. The address she gave me was:

Then a week or so later, she tells me her daughter was in an accident and barely lived. And her financier sent my payment but sent too much money. She wanted me to cash the check, take what I needed for her order and Western Union or Money Gram her the difference. The check was for $1900+ and she only needed to send me $300.

I just received the check. The envelope was addressed from:

I googled every address - nothing comes up, no business, no exact address or house number. Of course none of the names match, none of the locations match...I knew this was a scam. Glad I found this site and see others ran into the same thing.

I'm glad I decided to research this...just received the same type of scam emails from Danielle James and she also claims to be deaf.  I received the check today which I plan on taking to the police tomorrow.

I just received a text message, stating the person just moved to my state and received my number wanting items for daughters wedding ASAP and her MK consultant had cancer and unable to help. She wanted me to email her at reneemark13@yahoo.com. The text came from MI phone number 586-315-3672. I text back asking when they tried to contact me and where lived at...just got same reply back they were busy now and I needed to jut email them to get the list of products. Funny part, I am not on active status currently. I googled and found this info so thank you!

Wow, its almost like a template they use, same wording just different plot.

Same thing happened to me, only her name was Helena Smith, her daughter Brenda was having a birthday and then had a car accident. Said some stuff about prayer and how she wanted to trust me cause her financier K. Strickland wrote the check out for too much, and she needed it wired to her daughter to pay the doctor bills.  This is crazy. Someone needs to put a stop to all the innocent people being hurt.

I received 2 this week alone. The first was a Ca # wanting to ship to Fl, wouldn't call because she was deaf. Stated she would have to order with a check because no credit/debit card. The other one was a local # to MI wanting to order.

I received a text asking me for my email phone# 424-800-3016. Said her name is Maria Taylor and she is deaf and want some MK. She said she got my number from MK magazine. This when my bell went off in my head. Yes I have been in that magazine so I know foe a fact that they don't put your number in there. I didn't give them my email but I just received a email from her on my junk email. Beware lady this is a scam!

I received a text today from a lady named "joy katty" saying that she got my number off of a lookbook and she wanted me to send her my email address so she could order some products. I googled her phone number and its from Tulsa, Oklahoma and I live in South Dakota. I haven't responded back yet because I dont trust people and it sounds fishy. Her phone number is 918-884-6202
