I am also receiving these calls several times a day on my cell phone.  Who ever this STOP calling my cell phone.  I don't know you and don't want to be bothered.

It is a debt collection company, folks. If you are not the person they are intending to reach, call them back and advise them of such and ask them to take your number off of their records.

They called both my cell phone and my mother's home phone and a quick 30 second call asking them to remove my records has ceased the calls from them.

If you owe money, just PAY IT and they will STOP CALLING!

Receive calls from this number that has an automated answering system saying if you are Jewels Cooper please press one, if not press two, and then if you press two they say, if you are holding you acknowledge you are Jewels Cooper.  What is this?  My husband called the number back and a woman answered saying she gets calls back but is not ACS and guesses her number gets used.  Not sure how that happens.

I rec'd a call from this number today too. It was an automated messaging sysytem; they were looking for my father. I called them back. They are AMSHER Collection Agency.

I just started getting calls from this company.  They have called me 6 times in the past 36 hours.  I have gotten calls from 205-313-2601 and 205-313-2640. Since I have never used T-Mobile and have had an active cell phone account w/Verizon for the past 5 years or more, I am assuming they are calling the wrong number.  I used my Verizon settings to block their numbers.  We'll see how it works.

These people are debt collectors..The rudest bunch of jerks I have ever delt with.

I have been getting harassed by someone calling for Ashair Hakbahn, press 1 if available, press 2 if you are not A.H, then prompt rolls to, if A.H. is available please press 3...and wait on the line.  It has been happening at 7:50 pm and for about five months, four days a week.  FCC, Please make these clowns stop.  If we are on a National Do Not Call Registry - how does this happen?  AMSHER COLLECTION AGENCY is the company as I read above - ... This is totally unsatisfactory.

Tell them the next time they call you will be filing a lawsuit for harassing a non-debtor under the TCPA and FDCPA laws.

Generally, the TCPA does not apply to debt collectors making collection calls to debtors. However, if you are subjected to calls from a debt collector and you are not the debtor, you may file a lawsuit against the debt collector under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) and the TCPA.

This right was recently recognized by Judge Legrome D. Davis in a case called Watson v. NCO Group, Inc.  NCO Group is a debt collector that uses automated prerecorded collection calls.  In this case, Mr. Watson alleged he was getting hundreds of calls from NCO Group after he got a new phone number. Mr. Watson claimed he owed no debt to NCO Group, Inc.  Mr. Watson filed suit under both the FDCPA and TCPA.

David Israel, defense lawyer for NCO, argued that the TCPA should not apply to debt collectors.  Judge Davis rejected the argument made by David Israel. The judge ruled that Mr. Watson had a right to sue NCO Group Inc under the TCPA for $500 for each call.  Judge Davis wrote;

[The] Court is convinced that a non-debtor's rights are in fact violated when he is subjected to repeated annoying and abusive debt collection calls that he remains powerless to stop.

Judge Davis' ruling was based upon his interpretation that collection calls to non-debtors violate the privacy rights provided by the TCPA.  

So what can you do if you receive "wrong number" calls from debt collectors?

1. Sign up for the Do-Not-Call registry.
2. Save the calls captured by your voice mail or answering machine.
3. Contact a consumer lawyer.

TCPA: What Is It & How Does It Affect You?

The Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA) does many things - including prohibiting debt collectors from calling your cell phone without your permission. Each unauthorized call could result in the debt collector paying you up to $1,500. Here's some helpful information on the Act and how it might affect you.
What is the TCPA?

The TCPA, which was signed into law in 1991 under the first Bush Administration and codified under 47 U.S.C. 227, prohibits calls using any automatic telephone dialing system or artificial or prerecorded voices to:

?Emergency telephone lines
?Telephone lines of any guest room or patient room at a hospital, health care facility, elderly home or similar establishment
?Telephone numbers assigned to paging services, cellular telephone services, specialized mobile radio services, other radio common carrier services or any service for which the called party is charged for the call
?Any telephone call to a residential telephone line
?Send unauthorized faxes
The only way that a caller won't violate the statute is if express consent has been given - and violations of the TCPA are steep. An unintentional call carries a damage amount of $500; an intentional call carries a damage amount of $1,500. That's per call and regardless of the purpose of the call. In other words, if they call you using an automated dialing system without your consent, they've violated the Act and you are entitled to damages.

How does it affect you?

Most debt collectors use automatic telephone dialing systems to contact debtors. You'll recognize this when you go to pick up the phone and there is a slight hesitation on the other end. In fact, most debt collectors are calling nearly 100 people at a time just waiting for someone to answer. Although many have stopped calling landlines, cell phones are another story. Since more and more people are using cell phones either instead of, or in addition to, traditional landlines, debt collectors are finding their cell phone numbers using skip tracers, calling them and hoping that they don't realize that the TCPA has been violated.

Yeah, except that T Mobile doesn't deserve money because they don't have the service that you are paying for. Nearly 100 a month for dropped calls, text messages that don't go through, internet that NEVER works, there is no way that I am going to pay them for service that they can't provide. It's all in the contract. I pay you for phone service, if your phone service doesn't live up to the contract then I'm not going to use your service AND I'm not going to pay you. They broke the contract, not me. F*** T Mobile, I hope they go out of business.

This number calls our house MULTIPLE times a day.  It's driving us insane!  They keep asking for someone we do not know, yet they keep calling day and night.  We are reporting them to the FCC.

No msg left ever. Glad to know this is a collection agency. IF they WANT a C/B, what the heck do they think we have answering service for?? I am never available at the times they call, I got a llfe to enjoy, not get phone calls from outer space!!!  I am so sick & tired of this BULL!!!

They have been calling me at least once a day for the past 2 weeks .... I finally got ticked off enough to call back .... she said she can't tell me anything until I verify my bday and social, I said I'm not giving any information until I know what they keep calling me for. She said "For your protection, I can't tell you until you verify this information." I said "No for YOUR protection, you need to stop calling me." From the other posts here I've gathered this is a collection agency, but I have absolutely no debt whatsoever, other than credit cards, and none of those are delinquent. Is there any freaking way to get them to stop calling????
