I've been receiving calls from this company (promoting extended auto warranty) on my cell phone for months!  The calls seem to originate from different #'s but the recorded pitch is the same.  I stayed on the line to ask the sales rep to remove my number from their list but of course that did no good.

I have been receiving these same extended auto warranty calls. Don't know if they are coming from the same number, but the one I just got was from there. I googled it, and it said it's from Quincy Adams in Alabama, obviously a fake name. Have been getting these calls for months.

I just doublechecked the google response to this number, and it's Quincy Young, not Quincy Adams, oops, from a residence in Birmingham, Alabama. But I called it, and it says the number has been disconnected. So this scam must be using disconnected numbers to call, somehow.

kept getting these calls for 'extending my current auto warranty' which is obviously crap. it was a female voice. extending my current auto warranty? haha. ridiculous. when i called back it plays the disconnected number message, but im guessing its a recorded message these folks are using. i dont even own a car.

got a call from this number while i was in lab, twice...very embarrassing.  i didn't pick up so didn't hear anything they had to say but if it's some scam about car insurance i have no idea how they would have gotten my number, seeing as the car i drive is my dad's, not my own.

Also, keep in mind that there are a significant number of posts on these sites that are from the scammers themselves, attempting to obfuscate the situation.  I especially like the ones claiming to have called back to their 'customer service department'.

I wonder what they would say if you pushed 2 to get through to a person, then asked, "How much money do I have to send you to get you to stop calling me?"

Telemarketer
Less than a week since they called from this number.... today they called spoofing 612-345-7590.  While it no longer rings because of my white list, I still can see it on the logs.  Enter it here and (now try to look suprised) ... its a car warranty scam!

As far as new vehicle/DMV, I haven't bought a car since 2001, and that one was used.  The number the DMV has on file for me is not the cell phone number that is getting spammed.  I have religiously kept the number private, giving it to only a handful of people... tho one of them did enter it on a joke website (which is my best guess where this guy got it).  The only other database I know it exists in is Sprint's (my service provider).  While I doubt they are selling our numbers, it also wouldn't shock me a whole lot to find out they are, or have someone in the company with access to the db that is.  I know for certain Comcast (who I briefly had a phone through) did this/had this problem.  Before I even gave my number to a single person, I was getting telemarketers on that line.
Maybe?

It won't be a longterm solution since they'll just change their number, but if they're calling your cell you should be able to call your cellphone company to block their number(s).  You'll probably have to do it everytime they switch their number, but it could help.

Greetings - Have any of the people on this distribution bought a car recently?  I have spoken to people where I work, and one said that they had recently bought a car (the other said that they bought their car 10 years ago so it's a long shot).  Could this scam be pulling numbers based on DMV reporting or something else that they got their hands on that lists people who have cars and their contact info?  Did anyone ever get through to Quincy?

I was just on this site complaining about this automated message about auto warranty and then this afternoon rec'd the identical auto message, same voice, same everything from a different number this time. The new creepy message is from 503-356-6913. Anyone else? Maybe the 205 area code number has been shut down because of complaints and this is the new pester everyone number. They keep calling on my cell phone and I'd like to report them, but to whom?

As Craig Fergusons says, "I Knoooooowwwwww!" I keep getting these calls on my cell phone too. I no longer pick up if I can see the number with a 205 area code. If you do pick up, it's an automated message about extended warranty. As soon as I hear a delay and then auto message, I hang up. But, I sure would like to get these calls to stop. Get a real job Quincy!

Received a call at 5:51pm on September 8, 2008 from this number. Do not know this person, or anyone with this area code for that matter.  I suspect it is a telemarketer or spammer.

Anon- Good luck with that.  FTC reporting and the DNC list are a lot like locks on doors.  They keep honest people out.  Like Isg and so many others, I get calls from this scammer on a regular basis, and have for the better part of a year.  Report them.  Add yourself to the DNC list.  Vent on sites like this.  Eventually, you'll learn you're pissing into the wind and only answer your phone if you positively know the caller.  If you are unfortunate enough to work nights like myself, turn your ringer off during the day while you are trying to sleep.

These people are breaking FTC regulations that prohibit prerecorded calls to cell phones and ignoring requests to stop calling.  Please complain to the FTC by calling 877--FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357).  This will allow them to be prosecuted.  Also register your home number with the FTC on line (https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx).  This will also make calls to your home number illegal.

Adding them to block lists doesn't help.  They just spoof a different number and call back.  Check out 918-375-2671, 734-675-0242, and 702-520-1469... and I'm sure there are plenty more.  All the same piece of s*** scammer.  I've tried talking to them (both civilly and pissed off), I've tried FTC reporting, and the DNC list... nothing works with this waste of skin and air.

I've finally resorted to a white list.  My phone only takes calls from phone numbers I explicitly allow through.  Pretty sad that it has come to that, actually.

Right now 2 ways to handle this. 1. Put the number in your cell and keep it under "do not answer"  when the call comes up you hopefully won't answer it. Next see if your cell carrier has a way for you to "log" a bad call or number.  They can keep a record of the number of calls coming in and can be a great way to help fight this dirt bag.

This is completely out of control.  These guys called the company I worked for in Central FL on all 10 lines.  Requesting they put you on the do-not-call list does nothing.  Now they are calling my pre-paid emergency phone in my pickup truck, various lines at the company I work for in Ohio and numerous home and cell phone numbers of co-workers.  It does not seem to be limited to just one area of the country, they are calling everywhere.  I can't believe there isn't much coverage of this by news agencies.  This has become a far reaching scam.  I wonder if anyone has actually given them money for their extended car warranty or satellite cable.  There has got to be something that can be done to stop these people.
