It is not a scam. It is a call from Regions collections. the 800-289-6720 # is for overdrawn checking accounts. if you call no information will be given without the advocate 1st verifying mailing address and last 4 of SSN or dob. If you receive a call and you have no accounts with Regions, chances are the person they are actually trying to reach either gave incorrect information or the information is old and no longer valid. if you don't want to verify any info you can go into a branch and have them call the 800 # while you are there and they can let the person at the branch know why they are calling and who they were calling about.

I've received calls from this number, along with (404) 832-4404 stating that they are the same person. I refused to give them the information they asked for, which was my address & told them I would go into my nearest regions and address the matter there. The man then was very rude to me, stating the matter needed to be solved immediately. When I asked for the matter of concern he told me it didn't concern me. Excuse me? He then called me a bi*** when I told him not to call me again. I went into my local regions and was assured that if there is an issue they will ask you to come into the branch, not provide information via telephone. Both numbers are not associated with them. There is a directory of their phone numbers on their corporate website.

It more people complain, Regions Bank will want to stop all the calls they are getting about this.

More likely it is scammers spoofing this number.

Have been receiving calls from 205-560-7300 [also from "unavailable"]. It starts as a robocall stating "your call is very important to us, please continue to hold for the next available advocate ...[pauses]... thank you for your patience, your call is very important to us, please continue to hold for the next available advocate." Then, someone will pick up and ask for you by name. They state they are from Region's Bank and will not tell you anything else until you verify your mailing address. Seems like a pfishing scam. I refused to provide the information, and she stated I could go to any Region's branch to address the matter. She also provided me a phone number of 800-289-6720. I called the number and they immediately pick up. Again, it is possible this is a legit operation. Maybe a collection agency? The fact that they are from Regions, however, is very suspicious given we do not have accounts with Regions and they are not located in this region of the Country (Washington, DC). I called Regions (based upon a number I was able to find on their website), and they informed me that they believed this was a scam. Do not provide them (or anyone else) with personally identifiable information without you initiating the call to a verified number.

I had an automated message to call Regions Bank at 800-289-6720. I reluctantly called and was careful not to provide them with personal information without them verifying some information for me first, and it was legit. There was an issue with a business account of mine, and we resolved the issue over the phone. Not a pfishing scam.

I closed my account as well after being with them for 15 years. They refused to cash checks for me. But what they are really mad at me about is this, after I closed my account I notified the feds that they had automatically started pulling 5.00 a month without my permission for their "Green Club Account" they did this in August and Sept of 2010. When I raised hell about it, they refunded one month, and refunded 1 month 35.00 NSF. Which left I guess 5.00 and 35.00, I don't know and I don't care. But if they can pull it off on someone who has automatic deposit from the govt., just think of all of the old people they have pulled this on, who do not have a clue. That is why I contacted the feds. Apparently it has caused some real problems for them. They can call me til the rapture takes place, I am not answering their tacky phone calls. If they want to spend thousand to collect less than a hundred, be my guests, you morons.

These people are calling me, three times today so far.
The first time called was a week ago, and this last time i answered, it kept saying "this is the regions bank, your call is very important to us" but the recording sounded like a foreign person. I dont even have a regions bank around this town.
Should i answer it again?

It's Regions Bank Recovery Department, trying to collect on overdrawn accounts. But my account was never overdrawn! Called several times a day, always while I was at work and couldn't answer my cell. Never a human, but an automated voicemail saying to call back ASAP, as I had an important message. By the time I returned the call, they were closed! Finally reached a human on my day off and was told that my account was fine and he had no idea why they kept calling, said it was probably a wrong number. After that it only happened a couple more times, then finally stopped.

I do not even have an account with regions and they keep calling me and telling me that I need to settle something with them. I told them to take my name off their call list and they told me they couldn't unless I verified my SSN. I laughed at them and told them I was reporting them. They hung up, and they haven't called back in a few days. Maybe it worked.

Regions Bank Collections Agency - Caller
Closed my account due to their .03 error that caused insufficent funds charges of 30.00 odd dollars. I believe this agency buys the Regions debt for pennies on the dollar then tries to collect the total debt, ethically or non-ethically by hurassing you to no end... (had 12 calls in one day).

They call me at least 2 times a day if not 3. They do not call on Saturdays, but they call on Sunday. If this is really Regions bank, banks do not call on Sundays. I have yelled into the phone and screamed and they continue to call, but they leave no message. I have call the number after hours and it says it is Regions Bank, but I do not have business with Regions. Any ideas?

They just called my sister on my home on a car that she had eight years ago I knew it was a scam because they did not have the correct info on the car. I am going to call my phone company to have the number blocked.
| nm 2009-06-19 13:22:32 Unknown |
If they wont stop calling after requesting to be removed from their call list, call your phone provider and tell them the number and that they are harassing you. They can block a number for you, most phone companies will do it free of charge.

I have been pestered by these people all day long at work. It is a SCAM. When you answer they tell you your name ask you to verify your Regions Bank account. I have cursed them out all day long, reported them to the BBB, and my bank. Just don't even bother picking the phone up when they call.
