This is most likey a predictive dialer system that records working phone numbers to sell to marketers. They avoid the legal problems of using robodialers for advertising by hanging up and having a spoofed Caller Id. But, they make list of verified working numbers of people that answer and sell them to telemarketers.
Therefore the telemarketers don't get busted for using auto dialers and save money only calling working numbers with a high prob. of a person that will answer.
They are done anonymously and buried well. Prob just a PC in a rented room.

Been called by this number 3 times, each time they hangup after I say hello. POAGEORGIA is callerID

For the past week and a half I get these random calls and as soon as I answer the call disconnects. The caller ID lists the number as: POAGEORGIA. It is in all capitol letters and no space as shown. I have tried to call the number back and I get a message that the number I am calling can only be reached by a "special" phone. What is this? I feel like I am being watched by the CIA or something. I just find it very odd and I would like an explanation.

I said hello 2 times and the caller hung up the phone without saying anything. This has happen quite abit and I and getting tired of these calls.

Received a call from 2059175686. When answered, the deep male voice at the end said "Um hm" and hung up.

Who ever was on the line let me say hello about 3 times before they hung up the phone without a word.

Got the same call, same number, and the same "special phone" message. Don't know a soul in Jefferson County or Birmingham, AL.

Probaly these kids were harrased previosly and they r seeking revange. Revange is not a good thing, our lord forgives and forgets,He promises but of course teens r not in the bussinrs of that yet. However every action has a cosequence, and the person being harrased brought this to themselfs for whatevr insane situation was. It would be wonderful if they could be understandig rather than judgemdtal,, only God truely knows why things happen the way they do. However the person that is recieving prank calls,accepts Gods will and let it be. I put everything on Gods hands. I am at peace with the Lord.

harassing calls from kids/teens. got police dept checking it out.
