I got the same email and have received several different ones but it's in regard to my AKC registered boxer puppies had several of them.  they're all scams.

This is a similar scam we ran into a few years ago when I posted a horse for sale.  The guy sent us a cashier's check and we took it to our bank and they said it was not valid.  He wanted us to give him the difference between what we wanted for the horse and the shipping fees.  I just posted another horse for sale and got this email from Renee Ryan:

I wish there was a way to stop the scamming.

I'm glad I checked this guy's email online as he replied to my western show halter just now.  I thought the message sounded rather strange, so I wanted to double check.  Glad I did!  Definitely not replying to the email now.

I received the same email that everyone else has been getting and thought it was a little weird the buyer didn't want to see the horse in person or even pick it up himself, also the way he worded some of the emails is what made me want to google him.  Good thing we goggled this guy! You can report him to the US Secret Service Financial Crimes Division 202-406-5572. Maybe enough people reporting this guy we can stop it. Below are the emails from this guy.

Hey guys this is a scam. We actually received a check from this person who goes by multiple different names but the deal is they will send you a certified check for the price of the horse and possibly for feed for the horse. They will include the money for the shipping of the horse in the check.  The person wants you to pay for the shipping from the check that they want placed in your account. We took the check to wachovia and they told us that the certified check was forged check that it lacked information to make it a real certified check. When we contacted the guy back by e-mail we were no longer ableto get in touch with him.

What was the outcome of this?  Did "Ken" ever come for the horse?  He followed the pattern that Sandy described with me....said he was sending a check for more than the sale amount to cover shipping expenses.  I said I would not accept a check for more than the sale amount and would not release my horse to someone that I had never met or spoke to in person.  Never heard from him again.  I'd be interested to hear your outcome.

I was curious about the reason I keep getting the same scammers to respond to internet horse ads so I googled it and found this site. From these guys' response to your ads, you can tell something is odd because they do not use Ameican English- their choice of words, sentence structure appear to be from a person who is just learning our language. The latest one called himself "David Woodruff". I get a lot of these messages from "Maccarty","Byota Phillips", "Mathew", "Hale George", and "Chalmer" to name a few. The first one I ever got, I was skeptical about because sight unseen, he wanted to buy my horse. Anyone who has ever sold a horse knows that on a good day, you get a serious prospect who wants to know more info about the horse- not just a repeat what you have put in your ad and then, a great day is to have them come look. Never would anyone decide to buy an unknown horse from just one notice in the paper or on line. The first time I got a response from one, I told him I would need to have him wire money into a bank account (that I would set up for that transaction). Guess what? Not another word about that ad, but he probably responded to another one I placed. I'm just curious about their success rate and what the scam really is. I believe it is like Sandy said- they will send a bogus check and get real money from you in the form of a refund or advanced charge for shipment or something. It would be interesting to know the technology behind responding to EVERY ad in the country.

someone tell me what is up with this ken byro we got a check from him and don't know what to do with it now that we found this website.  Has anyone had their horse shipped and if the horse actually got picked up and shipped to what location. Has anyone even spoken to this ken byro person.

We got the same e-mail and got a check in the mail for the price of shipping and of the horse but have been unable to cantact Ken Byro. Also be warry of the name Terry Smith that same e-mails that Ken Byro sent out were a carbon copy for what Terry Smith sent out.  He sent me the information to have the horse shipped through OCL transporters which I am also unable to contact. Beware possible scam.

OMG!!!! We got the same one and this Ken Byro guy already sent the check!!! It's in the bank now pending certification!! Am I in trouble with this guy? I don't know what to do?

most likely the check will be a forgery and is for more than the price of your horse.  He'll ask for the rest of the money to be refunded.  A common ploy according to many websites on internet scams.

But what does he want?  This guy hasn't asked for anything beside info that is posted on our websites or ads.  It has scam written all over it but can't figure out what the premise is.

Yeah, I got pics that he produced.  Please don't be tricked, I took apart the header on my email that I received.  This joker is scamming us. He's in Nigeria, city named Lagos, lat = 6.4531 and Long 3.3958
