My husband and I picked up a newspaper in New Mexico this weekend and contacted John on this 2010 Harley (awesome bike) with an awesome price, did not expect it to be there still when I contacted him but he stated he still had it and it had a clean title, same thing starting a business with his brother, going through a divorce blah blah blah, went to the bank to see if they had dealt with the yahoo pay account and they stated they have, but when we told him we would fly to get it he had no response except for that he would ship it and we had 3 days to return it, when the bank requested the VIN number that was the last response we got from him, I have also reported this to the police dept as well as contacted the BBB to report him.  The number we got for him was 503-468-1988.  It is good we have the internet to check people out, but sad we live in a world where so many people have no morals.

Just got the same add in Tallahassee Florida......... Worthless POS...... Oh by the way He is in Oregon with his brother this time.... Gets around Huh!

Almost took a red eye flight out to Portland/Astoria (nice state Oregon is!) to see the bike!! Got same add in Morning Call. 'Sobered up, put the brakes on and started asking around. Old adage, "if it seems too good to be true,  its probably not".  Hey,but I feel sorry for the poor John's divorce though! You would think that with a bike (damn nice bike!!) like that he could pick up another Mrs. Eldridge outside a local strip club ( where ever he is??). I'd also take the "breather" off the intake and go back to the black stock air cleaner (he sent . some nice pictures). Signing out, "safe ridin", watch out for the cars!! and  "Scammers" to!

Same add appeared in Allentown, PA in The Morning Call. I assure you this guy is alive and still scamming. It's amazing that people can be so gullable and fall for this crap!!

Saw the CVO Electra Glide offer in the Reno newspaper on 7/6. Responded to the ad and got the exact same responses as 'biker' posted above. Gonna forward the correspondence to a Reno detective friend of mine and see if he can help put this clown away.

Yep he has an ad in Spokane for the same bike.....I sent him an email telling him I was a retired Chief of Police.....guess what.....no return.......he vanished.......hope he or they get caught soon...they need time in the federal bed and breakfast......

This seller has now advertised a 1999 Winnebago Rialta for $4700 in numerous sites across the country.  When contacted, he uses the same story - brother with cancer, needs to use Yahoo Finance, unable to meet, great price, needs quick sale...  The Yahoo Finance site states Yahoo does not have any such service.  BEWARE!

Yep, got the same email. I sent the money and had them to request copy of drivers licenses before money could be released. I have contacted money gram and auto trader and authorities. The number given is to a fax line to a plastic surgery facilty. I am currently doing some more investigating. As in, I spoke to a live representative before sending money and she verified all is legit..I noticed that the html was Teresa Loveu..HOW CUTE!! I will let you know. He/she is a smart coward, maybe they will caught and while they are spending time behind bars, they will get what is coming.

This guy is getting good... He is trying to sell a camaro to me and asking me to go through the same process... He said the car is in Reno Nevada but the funds are being sent to Georgia... red flag in my book!! Anyway, I have not sent the funds and don't plan on it. He said he has no phone number and is asking under 5,000 to make it a lower scope and severity crime.

Wow, Check this out. It looks like onld Strahan is at it again. Saw an ad in the local Atlanta Paper for a 2004 Harley Ultra listed for $5500 which has a street value of about 15K. This guy is slick and the following is a transcript of a some e-mail traffic we have had.

I AM SICK OF PEOPLE BEING PREYED ON BY THOSE WHO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE HONEST. WE WIRED THE MONEY TO A BANK IN LAS VEGAS. WE HAVE CONTACTED THE BANK AND THE FBI. this guy is running ads in a Charlotte, NC paper trying to sell his Harley.  Using a out of service 866 number & giving the brother with cancer story.

SAME SITUATION on Harley Davidson 2007 Softtail for $4300. ALLEN PERRY says Brother has cancer and needs to sell bike. I am from California. Ive had 3 contacts with him, last one today (10/1/2009). DO NOT FALL FOR IT! What goes around comes around. ALLEN PERRY is due his. Thank God for google and the rest of the people who have reported Allen Perry as a fraud.

This joker is trying to run the same scam in Southern MI going by the name of Allen Perry from Paris, MO the # he is using now is 248-605-8538. Same cancer story only now his brother died. He wants to use yahoo finance, i tried going to look at the bike but he keeps giving me the run around. Looks like i got lucky..Thanks to everyone for their posts.

Oh my God! I can't believe I found these posts! Same thing happened to my husband. We paid the money and thank God Western Union caught it. The 'secure money transfer' was supposed to be going through Yahoo Finance and a broker would secure the money until the bike arrived. Then if we were satisfied with it, they would release the money to the seller. Well, when the 'broker' came to get the money at the Western Union office, he showed a fake ID and thank God they didn't give it to him. Western Union was notifying the police or FBI or whoever. All I care about was we got our money back. This bikes way too nice to still be out there for sale. Don't fall for it!

Same scam here in Maryland. Posted that Softail Harley Davidson in the local paper for $4500 with a Delaware phone number. Turns out the guy is now in Paris, MO trying to transfer his brother to a medical center in PA. This site showed me what I needed to see and helped prevent me from going further with it. Noticed in the sweet pics he sent me that there was no visible license plate. Now I know why.

Have the same deal going on in SD.  He is selling a HD Fatboy Softail for $4,300.  Same cancer story and everything.  Says he is from Paris MO.

Sounds like the same guy who ran an add in an Ashland, OH newspaper. He went by the name of Allen Perry and said he was from Paris, MO. Sent me to a website that had pictures of the bike and guess what...got a virus on my computer! At least that's the only bad thing that happened to me...remember...If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Oh yeah, got the "brother has cancer" story. Hope this scumbag gets cancer for all the grief he's caused people!

I was one of the unfortunate people who fell victim to this guy. He said his name was Michael Thomas and the agent was Arnold Crutcher through Yahoo! Finance supposedly. I thought I was buying a Yamaha Repsol motorcycle in the Kansas City Star but got scammed. I reported to the FBI, please everyone report this guy so the FBI will take notice and find this guy. They can only start looking into these internet cases when the same scam artist continually gets people. He definitely has a pattern, and it's only a matter of time before he scams the wrong person. I too got the cancer story and felt sympathetic to his reasons for selling. Also, I talked to this guy about the motorcycle for almost a month, he is very convincing and committed to ruining people's lives. So, everyone please take cation because I do not want anyone else losing thousands of dollars to somebody who doesnt deserve a penny let alone deserve to live.

He's trying it in Indiana too. There is an internet scam report site. If you do a search for reporting internet scams a site comes up. I am going to report him too. I think we all should. I mean come on if it sounds too good to be true it is too good to be true.
