I have gotten several calls from this number about my Atlantic Monthly subscription which I ordered from Discount Magazines dot com a few years ago. The guy said that his company had gotten a renewal slip from me and I told him that many people had reported calls from his number as a scam. I told him that I never sent in a renewal slip and that this was a scam. He sounded apologetic saying he didn't know and I should tell as many people as possible about it.

So I recommend that you tell them that you did not sent in a renewal slip and that you and everyone that googles their number knows its a scam and don't call you back.

We just got a call from 206-266-2992.  CID said Amazon, so I thought it might be legit, but when I picked it up the man said he was calling because we had recently renewed my husband's subscription to Atlantic Monthly, which was true, but of course not through Amazon, so I was very suspicious.  He said that when we sent back the renewal card we had not specified a payment method.  Then I knew it was a scam and he was fishing for a credit card number.  I told him I didn't want to talk with him because I would have included a check with any renewal.  He promptly hung up.  Spam calls are annoying enough, but hijacking Amazon's number is rude, and the thing that bothers me most about this is that they seem to know who subscribes to which magazine.  If he had been guessing, I would have expected him to say "Time" or "Sports Illustrated," but how many people in Seattle subscribe to Atlantic Monthly?  Some, but probably not a large number.  This, in combination with other people's comments saying the caller named the correct magazine, including the Economist, makes me think these guys are either in cahoots with the magazine renewal processing company, or they hacked a computer, or something similar.

The folks at 206-266-2992 have called my telephone three times in the past week.  Each time the CID says the call is from Amazon, but when I called Amazon's magazine subscription service I was told that the calls were not from Amazon and that Amazon was aware of the obnoxious calls.  Much to my disappointment the person I talked to at Amazon seemed to be of the view that there was nothing Amazon could do to prevent the calls.  I suggested that Amazon should find out who was responsible for the calls and should then file a lawsuit to have a court issue an order stopping the calls.  My wife and I answered two of the three calls and ignored the third call.  When they spoke to my wife they told her some make believe story to the effect that her husband had sent in a card to renew a subscription and they needed to "process" the renewal and wanted my wife to agree to renew the subscription.  My wife told the caller that she was not going to agree to anything and that they would have to talk to me about anything to do with a subscription extension.  The caller wouldn't take "no" for an answer and said several confrontational and demeaning things trying to get my wife to do what they wanted her to do.  She hung up.

When I talked to them a guy who said his name was "Joshua" told me he was calling because they needed to process the subscription renewal card I had sent to them.  I told him there was no such card because I had not sent such a card to anyone.  Joshua started arguing with me about whether I had sent him a card requesting a subscription renewal because he said he was holding the card in his hand.  I told him I was pretty sure he was lying about having a card in his hand, but that if he did have such a card and he thought I had sent it to him he should tear it up because I was not interested in extending a magazine subscription.  He said he was not allowed to tear it up because he was required to "process" the card.  I wasted some more time saying rude things to him to see if I could get him to quit and hang up.  He didn't.  No matter how rude and vulgar I spoke to him, Joshua kept telling me that he was required to process the card because I had sent it.  I hung up.  I don't plan to answer any more telephone calls from 206-266-2992.

I started getting messages left on my answering service a few weeks ago, but they were just empty - you know,
a hang-up.  I let it go, but after three or four, I did a *69
phone id (you see, I have no
caller ID, so I have to do this).  That's when I saw the
number that is being discussed here.  Yesterday the caller took a long time before hanging up, and during that time, I heard background chatter, and finally the caller sort of groaned something like,"O-o-oka-a-ayy", and hung up...

I tried doing a google search, but nothing more specific than what others have found, indicating that it "belongs" to Amazon...but that can't be right.  And this caller called last night when I was home.
After letting it ring twice, I slowly answered saying,
"Hello?", there was no repsonse.  Totally bogus and
in need of being blocked by Verizon.

We also got these calls.  Per caller ID, we got 8 calls between 6/20/2013 and 6/25/2013, but were only home to answer 2 of the calls.  A little confusing at first, because we're long-time subscribers of the magazine they named, and it wouldn't be beyond belief if my husband forgot to include a check when mailing in a renewal notice.  But when I asked more questions, it quickly became apparent that it was a scam. The first caller got off the line very abruptly and the second caller started hectoring me about why would I doubt they were the real magazine company, they had all my info, etc.

We have been receiving phone calls from these folks (this word can be spelled differently) claiming we owe for a 5 year subscription to the Economist, and please provide a card number.  Get real!  We callled the E and they donot offer subscriptions for 5 years, and they are not trying to colledt from us.  These facts didnot slow down the people trying to collect.  They work by intimidation!.  Best solution so far is hang up immediately.

My dad has been getting these calls for the last week.  They have left messages, and he has talked to them, but thankfully, has never given them any info.  They were very aggressive.  It's really weird, because it was with regards to a magazine we have given to him as a gift for the last couple of years, but we've never purchased it through Amazon.  I have purchased other gifts for him through Amazon, though, and so it makes me worry that my Amazon account has been breached.

I also had this number call me, claiming my husband needed to pay for his magazine subscription or he would lose the free deal. Husband said he never renewed the subscription.  When I don't answer, I get an immediate call from cell phone 424-288-0657. Internet searches suggest it's also a scam.

Same here!  CID said Amazon 206-266-2992.  Picked it up and "Joshua" wanted me to renew a magazine subscription.  And he was a jerk too.

CID said AMAZON. Caller was trying to get me to renew a magazine subscription, but they had called several times over the past few days, hanging up when I answered. I told them to go _ themselves. Rude woman just kept on with her spiel and would not listen. I don't think it was really Amazon.
