Same thing happend to me i got a call saying i was approved for a grant! They said direct deposit i said no told em to mail it. Gave em my address cause i just moved pike an idiot not sure what they can do but hopefully not alot!

Got the call today... at work! I was told by a woman with a foreign accent [sounded like she was from India] the whole schpiel about the $7000 government grant. Sounded a little shady but I decided to play along. I was given a confirmation number and was told to call 206-317-1249. The first few attempts I got disconnected. The 4th time I got through. I gave her my confirmation number and was given the option (again) of receiving the $7000 as a direct deposit to my bank account, a pre-paid credit card, or cash. I chose cash. She then told me I needed to take $230 in cash to a Western Union and then call her back and she'd give me instructions with what to do. She told me not to tell Western Union that this was for a government grant as they would then charge me for the transfer. She indicated the $230 was only being used temporarily as part of the verification process at which point I would receive it back along with the $7000 in cash. Hmmm.... Why would I have to pay cash to receive a grant? Can you say SCAM ! ! ! ?

The fortunate thing is they called my work number and have me on file as living there at that address. So unless they break into my employer's HR database they don't have anything personal about me other than my name... and work number/address.

I just got a similar phone call from 206-417-7606 . . .   This is the number that they gave for me to call and claim $7,000 in cash, or have it deposited into my account, saying it was a government grant.   The guy speaking sounded very shady and had a strange accent.  I did not call the 206.317.1249 number.

This is also connected to the 281-857-3991 number they give you a money apporval code and then you have to call the 206 number and then it keeps disconnecting and then thats it i figured if it was real it they would send cash which was one of the options cause i was not about to give my bank account number or a credit card number but no thank you to that if its real they would send cash they better not get my identity or anything or i will go after there a***s like crazy.
