It seems the same person is attempting to scam me as well as the email I received is almost word for word as the first posting listed here.

I had a chicken coop for sale on Craigslist. I recieved this email and though it was ok for 2 seconds. I really could use the money, but alas, it is a scam and I had to deal with that. I am supposed to be getting the check in the mail tomorrow. I think I'll have it framed as a reminder. Don't be a sucker!

matter fact the deal is on and according to my secretary,he has
already sent the check out to you.So the payment should arrive in a
short while from now.And once you get it,i guess you know how to
handle everything.And please don't bother about any other buyers.But
there was a little problem which i guess we can handle with
understanding.When i contacted my secretary to know maybe the payment
as already been sent,i got to know that there was a misinterpretation
while sending the payment. According to the instruction i gave her,
she was suppose to have send you a check of $700.But instead, she sent
a check of ($3700).It was a terrible mistake and the check is already
out for delivery to your location. She claimed that he thought i said
she should send you a check of $3700 .But i know i very well told her
to send just dollars $700, but i guess she didn't get it straight. But
that should not disturb our own transaction.the deal is on and we will
get through it.what will happen is that ,once you get the payment you
will take it to the bank and cash it immediately,then you deduct the
$700, and a 100 dollars for your run around in cashing the check and
also a $100 for sending the rest funds to my movers via western union
money transfer that same day, since he is coming to you for now,i
guess i can be assured in you that you can handle it with trust and
have it sent to my movers.hope all is well.mail me back immediately,to
let me know that i can trust you to handle everything well. I will be
expecting your mail asap.

Thanks for the understanding..you gonna keep 100 for your running up
and down and you will remove 700 for the chicken coop and you will
send the remaining funds to my mover so they could come for the pick
up of the coop. and you gonna send 2900 to mover..kindly let me know

I received a similar scam email for a posting I had on Craigslist.  I'm sure the phone # may change in the future, but the same types of emails are being sent.  I didn't fall for this one.

Got the following scam message from this creep trying to get phone numbers and set up a money scam.

Started off as this:

"Hi,

Then...

"Thank for the prompt response to my mail,I will really love to come by but due to the nature of my work,am always on shift so i won't be available,so due to that i will instruct my Bank to start the processing and mail a draft to cover the cost of my purchase as am completely satisfied with the advert.I will need the details of whom & where to mail the draft.It will be delivered by the United Parcel Service within 2-3 days.Please note 'United Parcel Service' do not deliver to P.O.Box address

1.Name to be on the check
2.Home/location address
3.Telephone/mobile

Kindly delete the posting as am totally committed to buying from you to save me cost,I love to call but am a deaf and only uses a hearing-in paired phone the relay so please send me a email or leave a message on my voice mail "480-782-8114" it will be delivered as an email to me. My mover will be coming over for the pick-up right only after the payment has been delivered,I will forward your detail to my bank asap Please do stay in touch.

Then...


"I just receive the confirmation from the Bank,the check has been mailed via  UPS it will be delivered to your address a day from now according to the courier, the tracing number is  (  J2149790652)   but to my greatest surprise the draft was made out for $1,300 instead of the actual cost .It was claimed at the Bank that i requested for such but am very sure i only made a request for the cost of the good. I would have actually love to give you a call  immediately i was informed about this but am a deaf and only uses a hearing-in paired phone to relay .
 What you will do is that once the check is delivered to you please take it to your bank  and have it cashed,you will deduct your money plus an extra $50 to offset the cost of your extra expenses,the rest of the fund should be with you until my shipper came for the item and you can give him the remaining amount.

So you have to send the money to him in cash (company policy) through Western Union. I will get you the information for the transfer soon, i am sorry for any inconveniency, hope you understand. Please try to be around for the pickpup.

Then the best part, I recieved a FAKE CASHIERS CHECK in the mail, delivered UPS next day. It was made out for $1250, hand written, and cashiers checks or money orders are printed out, not hand written. No routing number or anything. I got this:


"Send the remaining money in cash, the shipper insist (he is Old-fashion) to this name and address via western union money transfer. I will like you to do this first thing this morning. So that my Mover can come for the pick-up by tomorrow.

NAME:  Peggy Sue mcclellan
ADDRESS:  100 Mcginnis Dr, Wayne WV 25570.
I will need the details of the transfer once you have sent money in cash . . .
1.The Reference number that is the 10 digits number on the western union receipt
2.Sender's name and address used in sending the money
3.Actual amount sent.
Please pay off the Western Union charges from the remaining fund after
you must have deducted your money and the $50 that is to cover the
cost of your run around.
