I'm in San Antonio Texas and I received a call from (206) 395-3081 telling me that I have been selected to receive a grant. They said that I need to go to CVS or Walgreens to buy a green dot card of 290.00 dollars, then to call back number and they will send me grant western union.
Be careful with this scam, luckily I looked up number and it is a fake company.

If you call back and request to be placed on their "list", as suggested by the shill for this telemarketing fraud, your name will be confirmed as "live" and placed on a suckers list for repeated future calls from this scam, and sold to the operators of other telemarketing frauds.

Verfast is a pernicious and invasive telemarketing company that boasts its does over 15 million calls annually, mostly of the computerized dialing nature (cutting over to a live person if you answer), and mostly selling or upselling newspaper subscriptions.
BUT . . . .they take Do Not Call very seriously, and it is grounds for immediate termination if one of their people doesn't follow the do not call procedure.
Simply answer the phone once to get an actual human being, tell them you want to be put on the Do Not Call List. They'll repeat back your phone number ("verify" it). End of discussion. Should end the harrassment.
Might be a good idea to ask for the employee identifier up front just in case you have further problems, so you can identify who you talked to.

I e-mailed the following to the customer service dept of my news paper. They immediately responded stating that they added me to their Do Not Call list, problem solved.
Are you affiliated with this phone number 206-395-7160. I receive a call from this number every day to my cell phone ###-###-####.
I demand that you/they cease and desist calling me on your behalf.
If I receive one more phone call I am going to report you to the BBB and submit a harassment complaint to the MN Attorney General against the Star Tribune, to the WA Attorney General against the phone number 206-395-7160 originating from WA state which I believe belongs to a company called Ver-A-Fast (verafast.com), and to the OH Attorney General against Ver-A-Fast the state their main headquarters are located in. The Star and Tribune will be deemed the main instigator in all three harassment complaints.

Received a call from this number and when I answered, it was a recording that repeated the phone number that called me. Hung up and called the number and received a recording saying if I wanted to remove my number from their records, to enter my phone number now or my number would not be removed.

I live in the Twin Cities area and don't have a subscription to the StarTribune paper and I have been getting a call from this number for weeks.
Gina 2012-02-13 22:07:43 Unknown
I have received a daily call from this number for the past 5 days. This number leaves an incomplete voice message in my voicemail each time; however, it is a machine-operated message. I called back today and received exactly what "Blondie" posted. Personally, it was rather eerie, considering the multiple voices used on the other line. However, I hope that by removing my phone number from their list, they will no longer contact me after the 2 days they indicated. And yes, "they" is still unknown.

I am in the Twin Cities/near St. Paul, MN. Caller ID says, "Verafast" I did not answer. They left no message. Calls everyday for last 15 to 20 days...

Caller ID said Verafast. When answered, the lady said she was calling on behalf of the local newspaper and asked for someone I do not know. Told them this is not their residence. She then verified the phone number (if it was correctly dialed). I answered yes. She then asked if this was a certain address (not mine actually), and I said no. She apologized and said have a nice day. We'll see if we get another call back!

Don't call me! Don't know who you are or why you are calling.
JD 2012-02-02 17:31:32 Unknown
Makes sense. I got a call from 2063957160 last night and again this morning. No message the first time, "confirming a service, call back later" message the second time. I recently subscribed to Sunday only Star Trib service. I called the number at Verafast, 4403316633 and removed my number from their list. We'll see if it works.

I've been getting this call for the past few weeks, and I too subscribe to the Charlotte Observer. I don't understand why they don't leave a message. It would make me more apt to respond to their call if they would leave a message as to why they were calling. As it is, they are only making me angry with their incessant call...sometimes 2 and 3 times a day!
L. C. 2012-02-01 17:30:00 Unknown
Please stop calling.

I keep getting this call too. I have a Sunday only subscription with The Charlotte(NC) Observer. I bet they're trying to get my to up my subscription.

Got a call from 12063957160 as well and I just ignored it. They left an automated voicemail that said they will call later for confirmation. Don't know what it meant so I guess I'll just keep on ignoring.
JP 2012-01-25 17:14:44 Unknown
Well...that's interesting.

I received a call from 206-395-7160 that left a message consisting of only the phone number. I called back, and got the recorded "...enter your number and we will remove..." message...and I am in Northern CA! This BS really ticks me off, and...I am on the DNC list to boot!

I just received a call from this number today and wondered about it, but followed the instructions to have my number deleted from their calling system. They CLAIM it will be 2 business days before my number is removed which remains to be seen yet. However I do have another way to stop whomever from calling you. If you get to talk with an actual person from any number that calls you. First explain your number is on a do not call list. Then ask them to take your number off their calling list and to never call back again. AND THEN tell them this. If they continue calling you, you will be forced to contact your local police and your local police will be contacting them shortly. Contacting police has worked for me in the past when I had calls from a business in Michigan. My local police held a 3 way call with me and that business and informed that business that I was within my right to file charges against them if I decided too. NO ONE has the right to call your number if you have it blocked.

Star Tribune Newspaper sales pitch. Do I want to switch from Sunday only to 7-day a week subscription.
Brandy 2011-12-12 23:40:40 Unknown
This is the second time that number called and didn't leave a message.
I don't answer the phone unless it's a number I know.
Add me to the list of those who do not like to answer the phone to be told to wait for the next available service representative.

I had a call last night from this number. When I picked up the phone, a computerized voice repeated their number and said it was verifying it. I'm in Ontario Canada and I hung up. I don't listen to computerized calls.
Chris 2011-12-12 00:31:55 Unknown
I don't know if that is legitimate or if it is someone trying to figure out when you are home to rob you. Based on what others have said, if it is Verafast.com, on their web on their "Contacts" tab they have at the bottom in fine print a number to call to remove your number from their call list. It is a pity the call is a recorded voice with no information on who they are.
Chris 2011-12-12 00:23:52 Unknown
Based on what others have said here it is verafast.com acting on behalf of a company such as a newspaper that you may have subscribed to. If you go to verafast.com and select the "Contacts" tab, in fine print at the bottom there is a phone number to call to get your number placed on their Do Not Call list within two business days.
