call from guy identifying himself as a rep from the Home Security Group and same MO: offering a free alarm system if we were willing to put sign up in window.  Very suspicious conversation.  He wanted me to give him my first and last name.  I declined. Eventually he ended the call by saying that he was going to have some specialist call me back in minutes rather than keep me on hold.

I am sure this is a scam.  Phone number it came in on was 213-725-5376.

Received a call on 5/10/10 about having a security system installed in our house.  The name on caller ID was Sims and the phone number was 206-397-1505.  They said we would have our equipment within 3 days and the date today is 5/18/10.  We also gave our credit card number, what do we do now??

After a little more looking apparently it is APX Security Systems and they do have a Facebook page so I am guessing that has something to do with where they are getting #s from.

Got this call this evening.  After browsing a few sites and reading what other callers have said about them getting their cell #'s from a third party on the internet, my guess is they are either getting it from Facebook or from the Myxer.com ringtone site.  Those are the only two sites that I have ever given my cell # too.  I have also gotten a few spam text messages but those stopped after a took my # off of Facebook's mobile alerts.

APX security called on my cell. Said I was chosen for test home and get free system. He asked if I was homeowner. I asked how much was the monitoring fee, he said I get a free system and was I the homeowner. I asked for the 3rd time and he gave me the same answer again. I hung up.I live in central Texas!

My parents got a call from this number asking if they could install a home security system for no cost.  The only thing they ask is that they put a sign up in the yard advertising their products.  My mom was going to get my dad to pick up and the caller hung up on them.  My parents felt as if they were fishing for info on how secure the home was.

I got the same feeling, that it was either a pre-recorded series of responses or someone reading from a very tight script.

This number called while I was at work - it showed up as Washington, and the number 206-397-1505.  I did not answer & I'm glad that I didn't!  What a lame scam.  Just don't answer numbers with which you are unfamiliar.  If it really is important - they will leave a message.  If not, I just assume it's a wrong number or someone calling to hassle me about a fake security system offer.

I got this call today. I have a new phone and assumed one of my contacts didn't copy over so I thought it might be from family I have with that area code.  I called it back and got the message.  It prompted me to press 1 on the keyboard so I would not get their calls any longer.  Like an idiot, that's what I did.

Now that I found this site, I realize that I just confirmed my number to someone.  Crap.

Got call on cell, with same spiel about wanting to use my home as test home for security system, which I would get for free.  When I asked for a number to call back after talking to my husband, he laughed a bit and thanked me for my time. Since he didn't give me another number, I asked if I could call back on this number.  He again thanked me for my time, and I told him never to call my number again.  I am on every do-not-call list I can find.

Just got a call from this number. The man asked if I would like a free security system, when I told him I already have a security system he hung up without another word. I reported it to my security company, they told me this call is most likely by someone who is looking for houses to target. Be careful of what you tell people!

Received a call today from 206-397-1505 @ 1:18PM EST on my Verizon cell phone. Caller stated same as above about security system, explained I was a security expert for years and have the best monitored system you can buy. Caller quickly hung up. Please don't respond specifically but I'm curious if this is all in the same area. I live on the East Coast.

This evening I had a man come to my door (non-soliciting neighborhood with signs), instead of opening the front door I went out my open garage door back to my grill (I was cooking on it). He came over to me and talked very loud saying he just rang my doorbell why didn't I answer him..etc. He said he was selling cleaning supplies and wanted to show me what he had nothing was with him except a small clipboard with two fliers and a lot of scrap paper with nothing written on them. I told him we are a no soliciting neighborhood and I'm not interested, he needed to leave. He stepped closer and so did I telling him he needed to leave the neighborhood and property now. He tried one last time and stepped even closer, less than an arms length from me so I took a stance taught in self defense and I think he got the hint because he quickly turned around and left. He walked to my neighbor and tried the same only for him to tell him to leave. We have had numerous break in attempts lately and everything in me screamed he was scoping things out.

I don't care to alarm anyone but it does seem like a scam to get information. More than likely it's a coincidence however this is the first call like this I have received and the first man like this in my quiet neighborhood in the past 6 years. My neighbor and I both called the police to make them aware and when we both told him No he quickly walked to his van (with Nevada plates...remember we are on the East coast) and drove away. For the record I am a female if that makes the situation today any stranger.
