I started questioning them as well and i got very rude answers. i asked for a number to call back and the guy asked "why do you need my number?" that is when i knew it was a total scam!

Got a call from 206-456-0661 AND 210-893-5553, both of which happened like y'all said.  As soon as I start questioning them and how they got my number and that I was going to turn them in the FBI I got disconnected...maybe that kind of threat will keep them from calling.  HAHAHAHA...

Do not answer this call if you see Seattle, Washington , or this phone number. Report this to your telephone company. All I got when I answered was a computer voice that said, "good-bye" and hung up. I won't answer again!

No response when I said hello, then got a recorded "good-bye" and they hung up. The Seattle, Washington phone number should be reported to your phone company. Do NOT answer if you see this number!

They have called repeatedly! I don't answer finally did and asked to stop and no one there

They said they were from microsoft and wanted my computer info...they said I downloaded an unwanted program...haven't been on, my computer is in the shop getting fixed...They had better not call here and waste our time...my man has pancreatic cancer and we need the phone....

It might be possible to revover the photos and documents.  More important, those pests probably downloaded malware and spyware and viruses.  Take the computer to a local computer place and tell them what happened.  They can un-do what the scammers did.

They called my mom and talked her thru 45 minutes of tech support only to spring the $199 charge on her. She hung up on them but they were still in her computer reconfiguring even when she insisted they stop. They seemed to have deleted all of her photos and documents. RATBASTARDS!! PLEASE EVERYONE never let these people thru!!

Same bozo's called me. The guy was Pakistani or something and spoke very broken English. During the call there were times it sounded as if it had dropped and I had to ask if he was still there. He explained he was a computer tech and was offering some kind of anti-virus for my system because he knew it had been at risk and/or had been compromised recently and would eventually crash from the virus. I explained to him that I used a fork of Linux that was untouchable by virus and needed no anti-virus. He went on to say that without an anti-virus my system would crash because of hackers. I explained again that I am familiar with various operating systems and explained to him how the Linux system works and that he had nothing to offer me. He was told to have a good in a polite tone and then hung up on. TOTAL SCAM.
If any of you fear you may have a virus, use one of the many free anti-virus programs available for windows platforms that are proven spyware and trojan free. example-- avira,avast,comodo. if you must download them, do it from a reliable source like CNET or FILEHIPPO. dont trust these criminals. most of all. switch to Linux to surf the web or use a Mac and you wont be at risk for those types of exploits.

The person that calls from this number says nothing when you answer, then a recorded "Goodbye" is heard.  Very annoying!  The ID only says Seattle, WA.

I have told the caller many times that my number is on the do not call list. They still call at least 2 times each day. I just quit answering. Very annoying!

This is a fraud most people should realize that noone would be able to associate your computer with your phone number. I wish our federal government was more focused on this instead of attacking womens rights.

This a scam call to rip people off. It was featured in Washingto DC tv station.

The caller spoke in foreign accent, said they knew my computer serial # and My PC is in trouble. I know my computer is fine. I said this was not a legitimate call and hung up.

We had a phishing attack originating from this number to the Netherlands in Europe. Claiming to be calling from a company called Micro tech Support

This number has been calling and calling, and calling. I answered, and got an electronic "good bye" but that was it. They call about three times a day. The second time I answered, I got hung up on. Weird.

In case you haven't figured it out - the call wasn't from Microsoft.  It was from a thief who wants to steal $170 from you.

Called saying they were with Microsoft and traced me from my IP address. Said Microsoft received computer errors from my computer. Then wanted $170 to fix my computer. Told them I didn't have any money and they said I could use my computer until it crashed. Told me to call 857-366-7172 (Boston phone number) when I had the money to get it fixed. I talked to two different people neither of which I could understand very well. 2/17/2012

Asking about files on my computer that need to be erased. Not an american company. Not sure who are where they are and do not know how they got my number.

Called me twice within 2 days. Scary thing is..I had a procedure done on Friday and this person said in his message...Hey! Are you alive? Hope everything went well with you yesterday..give me a call! I know NO ONE from that area...so Im not taking any risks! But how does he know this info? From my FB?

They hang up when i answer the phone, and never leave a message if the call is missed.

attempted computer fraud - the tactic from this caller is to claim that your computer is sending error messages.  Of course their ploy is to trick you into allowing them to log on to your computer.
