This does appear to be another scam. I replied to a job posting on Craigslist for an "office assistant"  Here's the reply I received in my email, including the phone number:

re: Employment Wednesday, December 30, 2009 11:34 AM
From: "Frank Jenkins" <jenkins@managedwel.com>To: @yahoo.com

Hi,

Thank you for employment with us. The job responsibilities are clear, you will be answering the phone, scheduling meetings, and running company errands such as buying office supplies and making bank deposits. When running errands you will be provided with a company credit card to make supply purchases, etc.

We have had some bad experiences with prior employees taking advantage of having access to a company credit card in the past, so before we can schedule an interview, we need you to get a credit check. We prefer you use Click for FreeCreditReport to obtain this information as they currently have a free trial. We have also found their reports to be the most accurate.
When you submit your information they will send you your credit score.
When you email me your credit score, we can schedule for an interview. Please do not email me your credit report, as this may have private information in it. Just send me your credit score number outputted. If you have a low credit score, that will not prevent you from having an interview with us, but it does show us that you are trustworthy and responsible.

Please send me your schedule with availability for an interview along with your credit score.
I am looking forward to your response.

Sincerely,

Frank Jenkins

There also doing the same thing with rental properties. I have now got the same eamil twice responding to two diffrent rental houses.

Here is the email I got:
First and foremost, thank you for your interest in the home. I am available to show the house this week if that fits your schedule. Just to give you a little more information about the home, the water, trash and garbage are paid by us. The security deposit can be paid in 2 installments if money is tight. (I know how that can be).

The house has a fenced in backyard and we do allow pets. The deposit per pet is a one time payment. The house includes a washer and dryer, and we pay for lawn care so the renter does not have to cut the grass. There is NO application fee.

I do require that all applicants and additional renters who will be living in the home complete a creditcheck to ensure their eligibility. I have so many people apply for homes that I have to make sure they are qualified renters before I show the property. This ensures neither of us will be wasting our time.

It is okay if you have bad credit (trust me). We just check to make sure that you don't have several evictions on your record. (We won't rent if you have 3 or more evictions on your record).

I also had to recently stop giving out the exact address of rental properties before I am able to show them because last time I did that the house was vandalized (I will be glad to send you the address right after your reply) I assure you though that this is a very safe neighborhood. I actually lived in this home for 2 years (very cozy).

As soon as you can, please click and go to the secure website link below to complete the credit check: (takes about 30 seconds) Once you complete, I'll call you.

This process turns some people off, so I completely understand if you decide not to complete them. In that case, good luck with your home search. I just want to be honest with you up front about our process, which does a good job of protecting us from ineligible renters and scammers.

If you are truly interested in proceeding, Let me know when this is done and we can then work out the time and date to go see the home. Email me back once you are done. (Make sure to include a valid phone number. I usually call within 6 hours of submitting for your credit check. Then I can forward you the address and we can set up a time to tour the home).

If eligible you will also be sent an email with my office number so we can set up a time to go see the house and discuss any other questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you,

Mary

When you reply they send back an error message because the persons inbox is too full.

Same thing here.  My email was almost word for word like the others.  Seems like they provide different credit score websites in different emails.  Everything seemed fishy about this email.  Even if they needed your credit score I didn't see why they would also suggest these dodgy sites.  I had never heard of being asked for a credit score at all let alone before even one interview.  Thanks everyone for sharing this scam.

Just as a follow-up....I've e-mailed Craigslist TWICE [unable to call them since nowhere on the site is there any phone number to reach a "live" person] through their 'Help/Ask" section asking them what they are doing about this bogus "phisher", since it appears everyone who had this company scam or try to scam them had answered an ad through Craiglist in several cities around the country.  I even gave them the date/time/e-mail link that this scammer used in NYC so that they could easily locate them.  The scammers would have had to have paid for these ads, so it should be simple for Craiglist to locate them.

Suffice it to say that I have not heard anything back from the folks at Craigslist, not even an automated response saying that they received my complaint.  In my opinion this makes Craiglist just as much at fault in perpetrating the hoax and illegal activity.  They seem to be dealing with this situation the same way they dealt with the situation of a couple of years ago that was occurring in their "adult services" section….allowing people who were committing illegal activities [in one case murder] to continue posting on their site even after being shown the truth, in addition to fighting the authorities all the while saying they had no control over what was posted.

Where it comes to this fake employment ad I believe Craigslist is as much, or possibly more, to blame for people being scammed as those who are listing the ads – Craiglist knows it is happening and apparently refuses to do anything about ridding their site of this criminal activity if their silence to my e-mails is any indication.

After posting resume for job on craigslist I immediately got e-mail response back from Mary @ reed@managedwel.com  asking me to set up an  interview @ interviewreqform.com.  Fortunately I couldn't pull up that web site.  Suspected phishing then checked it out.  Apparently craigslist is REAL bad about having scammers.....  This is not the first time I had scammers with craigslist.

Same deal here - ad on Craigslist in PA. Got the email response back from Vanessa Irving. I knew right off the bat it was a scam just by the email. I reported their supposed company's website & credit report website to the US Fraud's report line as well as marked them as phishing sites with Microsoft. I suggest everyone else do the same to get the sites taken down ASAP before other's get screwed who don't know any better.  :o)   I hope these A$$H*le$ get what's coming to them eventually!

I just received the exact same response that the initial poster got, but the sender of the e-mail was "Vanessa Irving" [I'm located in NYC].  I googled the company and couldn't find anything, so I called the number and got what appears to be a normal company voice message by someone claiming to be Ms. Irving and that I should leave a message.

Obviously as everyone else has assumed, it is a scam.  I called the "206" area code number listed as "Frank Price" and got a recorded message that said this was a non-working answering service, but if I wanted to call to get my own number....obviously a service that this scam uses and after a month they just change the number.

Someone asked what they could do with just our FICA score....it's not the FICA score they want.  They are hoping we are gullible enough to use the link they provide to "FreeCreditReport.com".  I compared the domain address with the link they gave to just going myself to that LEGITIMATE site and they are different.  The scam artist(s) set-up their own bogus website to steal all our personal information.  If we are too smart for them and go to the website on our own and send them our FICA score, they just ignore us and we never hear from them again with an interview appointement.  It's the people who access the credit report site through the e-mail that have a problem with getting their credit information stolen and used.

Just another example of the scum of the earth trying to scam people when they are most vulnerable.

i've encountered this listing as well. the link the in email is to scorisire.localiwork.com, which redirects through several domains to freecreditreport.com or to a spoofed version of it.

i don't think the motivation here is to obtain your credit score, but either a site spoof or man in the middle attack to obtain the information you submit to the credit reporting sight [all you would need for identity theft].

i have also seen another from Mary Ramirez <ramirez@managedwel.com, which directs you to visit a link to schedule an appointment by phone at dwelrental.com. this asks you to give your phone number and await a return call for appointment, where you are asked to enter a referal code [gathering a paired set of email address and phone number].

This is crazy, why are people trying to take advantage of the unemployed? It's not like we have money for anyone to steal anyways, if we did we wouldn't be job hunting would we? Dumbasses.

I was THIS close to giving up my credit card number and then I thought, "F*** this...I shouldn't be treated like a criminal just to run some errands like a f***ing peon." If I would have gotten scammed I would have hunted a muthafucker down like a somebody from the Wire and smoked a b***h. I didn't get a phone call--I replied to a job posting on craigslist, but it was the same phone number in the email reply.  However, it was a different individual's name. I have seen other postings on other websites regarding this same "scam" -- though I have no idea what the actual scam is -- with various names for individuals. The phone number is always the same, but the name is different.  I got one from a "Frank Powell"; I've seen one for a Frank Gonzalez.  It may be simply a way to get people to sign up for the free credit report website, or there may be something far more sinister involved... Since I'm not sure, I'm just gonna stay away!
