They pay 10.00 an hr only if you come to them through Smart talent. Legacy pays 9.5 an hour and if you join them after your 90 hrs of call time you go down to 9,50.

I also was an employee for Legacy telemarketing.  It is true that there are 40 women working their hearts out in this small little building. The air conditioning is on all the time blowing down on the ladies. They have umbrellas up to keep it off them and are usually wrapped in blankets to stay warm. The threat of being fired is so strong that when these ladies get sick they are afraid to stay home to get better so the virus runs through out the building. I remember one lady who has Colin cancer was told by her Dr to go in for a colonoscopy.  She was denied the time off and had to go in and beg the manager Jeff for the time off as she had missed some time earlier. Now there is another story. The worst manager I have ever had in my 60 yrs of working. He has never done the phone calling in any previous job. He stirs moral up when ever the numbers are low and takes away privileges as well. It is run like a sweat shop. Then with no real warning one day five or more people will just be called in and fired. The wage of Smart talent who hires a lot of the employees as a temporary job is 10.00.  But if you last long enough to be hired on by Legacy you go down to 9.50.
It is a sad thing to watch lives destroyed by this place. The women are hard working and passionate. They deserve to be treated better.

See this link for all you need to know about James Paton and this "charity":  http://www.komonews.com/news/local/133675028.html

Seems like the only charity involved is the charity of his wallet.

Are you really doing a story on Legacy? That seems a little extreme... And for what? Because all of you think that this company is just a huge scam? If thats what you think then great. But they help people. More than most you other people do on a daily basis. But there is no need to be rude to the people who call you. They are just doing their job trying to make a living. Dont verbally attack them because of how you feel about a company. Either way there are decent people who work there that are just happy they have a job in this economy. Dont go bombarding them with cameras and a ridiculous story over stupid things people feel. If you have questions talk to the company... Thats all it takes people. Be [professional!

wrong again sir. currently it is still illegal to telemarket cell phones when the owner of the phone has not has business dealings or offered their number directly with the company calling them.  many if these companies buy their call lists from a marketing company that places cars/boats/luxury items in shopping malls along with the "registration box" entering you in their drawing for the item. funny they never do anything showing if anyone actually wins it though. anyway when these are filled out the fine print says that by signing you authorize both them and their partner companies to contact you. basically if they call or text your cell download a call block &text block app. there are several...Mr number, Spam block, mobile lookout, mobilewatchdog and hundreds more are free. I finally got them to stop calling after noticing the caller I.d. and answering "thank you for calling anger management center what program can i sign you up for today".

Reported for what? I am guessing for calling you even though you are on a "do not call list"? Educate yourself. Non profits do not qualify for one of the things the do not call list covers. You look like an idiot.

My number must have gotten into a call center.  I get these calls everyday.  Having a no-call number seems to do no good.  If this is not a scam then it is a terrible way to raise money.

This is another of those companies that should be closed down and fined heavily. Constant calls and dead air when you answer. How do they get away with harassing people in this manner? Why doesn't the State Attorney's office do something?

Who is this? When I answer this call there is nothing but dead air. Caller ID lists it as BCPF.

It is not a matter of us doing the reseach but a matter of having better business practices. Instead of having computers doing calls that have no life people when we answer they should have someone there. There is no reason for people to research a call they receive, it is not there job. So thank you for the help but a good business practice would be quite the opposite. I would rather answer the phone and have someone tell me who they are and what they want so I can make the decision that way. Do you just call random people and wait for them to figure out why you called or what you wanted? Didn't think so...

In 2008 BC Prevention Fund raised $3.8 Million. It did give $550,000 in grants which is 14% of donations. It also paid Legacy Marketing $2.3 Million for "outreach services" -- 60% of donations. Jim Paton is the Executive Director of BC Prevention Fund and the BC Prevention Fund tax return says he gets no salary and spends 30 hours a week on BC Prevention. But he is also the part owner of Legacy Marketing, which his employer charity paid $2.3 Million.

This number calls me daily and does not leave a message.  Caller ID only lists number, no name, just "Seattle".  Very annoying.  I have an unlisted number, which is supposed to prevent telemarketers from accessing it.  Grr...

actually folks, after doing a bit of research on Jim Paton, WA on google, this man appears to be very legit. Including giving $100,000 to Swedish Hospital from the donations collected. I did miss the phone call and looked at the caller ID which said BCPF which led me to look up the number.

There is also a site that shows a letter from the State of Washington thanking Jim Paton and BCPF for the $200,000 raised. So folks, not everyone that calls is a scammed. Yet it is always good to check it out.

I wanted to make sure I wrote this for others who read Porgie's comments above. A little bit of research (10 minutes at most)
would have told this commenter that she didn't have to contact the Feds, of indeed she truly did. Have a good day.

I'm not sure if there is a connection between these two numbers but I received a call on my cell phone first not more than a couple of minutes before my house phone rang with the "UNAS" number. The Cell phone call (604-621-9731) which I also did a search for on the net was from some "credit help" agency/company in British Columbia.... but I haven't a clue what this UNAS (206-629-8625) phone call was about, they did not leave a message either. It just seemed odd that one call came right after the other.
Today was my first experience with the UNAS call (12:33pm), I sure hope they don't keep calling every day like some of you other posters have mentioned, what a nuisance that would be... ughh!
