I post an air conditioner for sale on Craiglist. I live in Canada. I received an email from coles jones who wrote he want to buy it. He said he needs to have my phone #. So I email him my number. He emailed me to say he want my full name, address, and all details. He is very interested to buy the unit and will send me a certified check and a mover to pick it up.

When I discover the number 206-666-5029 + certified crap, it sounds fishy and ignore his email. Why would someone wants to buy an air con from another country???.....gee......then I look up his # and realize this is a scam. Dear sellers, please beware of SCAM !!!

Ditto to everything above, I posted a crib for sale for the first time late last night and got a response early in the morning saying they wanted to buy the item.  They asked for full name, full address, telephone number so a certified check can be sent then the shipper will come to pick up the item.  It didn't seem right to me and so glad I followed my gut feeling and found this blog.  This time they went by the name Jones Walcot.  I sure hope there are some honest people still out there.

Ditto on all that's been said above. I just listed a car on Craigslist this a.m. and got an email this afternoon, wanting all sorts of info from me. I did the reverse lookup, because the whole letter seemed sketchy. Glad I did. The email was signed Scot Heine M

Apparently this scammer is still out there - I got the same generic email that others have gotten when I posted a table on Craigslist (Providence, RI). Same M.O. - he's going to pay with a certified check, he'll have his movers pick up the item. Not sure what's in it for him, unless he's planning on sending a cashier's check for more than what you're asking and asking you to pay the "mover". Of course then the bogus check would bounce and you'd be responsible for the whole amount. This time he used "Mark Heinze" and "jfhus Ikdois" for names.

Got the same phone # on a response to craigslist ad I placed. They want to buy the item. They wanted to pay by Bank Certified Check from local bank.I am no expert but don't you have to cash the check at your bank which would have some routing #'s? Also wanted my 1)full name 2)full home address 3)zipcode.No PO Box because they wanted the check to get to me faster?
Signed Mark Scot also used yuwedhga dserrafgy
Hope nobody falls for this. It just doesn't pass the smell test:(

Yes the same thing happened to me about an hour ago on Craigslist. They responded wanting all of my info so they could send a "Bank Certified Check from local bank" and a mover would come by to make the Pickup. It didn't seem right so i figured id check up on the number and look what I find.

Such a scam.

This Cole Jones person also responded to my add on Craigslist. I wonder what they are accomplishing from this B.S. email. I don't care about the legal crap. I am just really pissed about the let down when times are tuff and people truly need money and these characters just lead them on.
Anyway if you get anymore responses similar to this just ignore them.

Same with me, The caller COLE JONES 206 666-5029 responded. I was selling a car and got this generic message, not mentioning the item. says that the price is good and can't come to see it but will send a certified check for the full amount.
Actually I got the same type of message from a FRANK LORIS didn't give a phone number, but his address is 245 Merino St Providence RI 02909. That time I waited for a check for over a month that he said would come by Wednesday. The name didn't exist.
I hope someone finds these characters and puts them in jail. I'm willing to go thru with the transaction if the cops arrest them when they come.

This number was used in a 'scam' response to a Craigslist for sale listing I had posted.
the person did'nt mention what I was selling, and only referred to it as the 'item', and the name associated with the email was 'florence walcott'.
They said they would have a 'mover' give me a 'cashiers check' fhr the item and pick it up for them (yeah right!)
