I would like some "real" recommendations on how to get the Washington Fraternal Order of Police to stop calling.  They have now used 5 different numbers to call from for months.  They call during the week at dinner time, weekend mornings and more. I continue to call block but they keep using new numbers.  I have reported them to the Attorney General and nothing has been done.  I've read all the numerous websites of many many many complaints.  Can someone do a class action lawsuit?  Why is this allowed to continue when people continue to say "do not call back".  Not to mention that any person with a brain would never give their personal information over the phone.  Can the Washington State Police go after their own marketers?  This just gives Washington State Police a bad name!

Received a phone call from this number last night.  My husband answered the phone, who just happens to be a law enforcement officer in the State of Washington (Police Commander).  They asked for the lady of the house.  This is how the call went:

Husband: Hello
FOP: Is the lady of the house in?
Husband: No she is not but I'm the man of the house
FOP: well we can talk to you.  We are a fundraising organization called the Faternity of Police and we are asking for donations.
Husband: Whoa before you go any further on this.  We have a lot of relatives in prison and will not be donating any money.  Have a nice evening, good-bye.

We have also heard about this organization and their tatics.  Under no circumstances should anyone donate to this organization.  And why do they always ask for the "lady of the house"?  Just for the record, we have no relatives in prison.  But it shut the guy up.

I get calls from this number but I don't answer and they never leave a message. My caller ID says FOP MEM FOUND

picked up on the third ring (at my 425 area code home number) and heard a male voice asking "Hello?"

Got the impressino he couldn't hear me.

By the timbre of his voice I would guess college age.

unknown number, no response from caller when I answered the phone. I eventually hung up and checked the number online (here).

When I answered, got no response.  Just one of many stupid calls like this. Frustrating!

Call received at 7:40 PM in Seattle. Dial tone on 3rd ring. When I called back, a woman, clearly exasperated by her hopeless mission, answered on behalf of the Fraternal Order of Police. Although still listed as a charity, they are so inefficient that it uses 80% of their donations for fund-raising and paying their corporate officers. I told her to remove my number from their list.

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Washington Fraternal Order of Police Memorial Foundation. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there?s information on www.wafop.com . Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Washington police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

I noticed that delay also, and if I gave an answer that was a question back or not an expected answer, the voice would ask me to repeat.  I got the creepy feeling that I wasn't actually talking to a person, that it was all recorded and programmed by the computer to recognize what I responded and plug in their canned response.  At the end I tried to test that by asking some other questions but couldn't get a word in edgewise to do it.  I really think this is not a live person talking. Like I said, very creepy.

The hang ups happen because a computer dials the call.  When you pick up the computer tries to connect to a representative. If all their reps are on calls the computer disconnects the call.  I had one that actually had a recorded voice that said, "Hello, Goodbye".  I used to think these were harassment calls. Whenever I get one of these I add the number to the blocked list on my phone.

Got an idiot call from some dullard supposedly representing the police. Number 360-547-1903.

This imbecile wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. I asked him why he was collecting for the police seeing as I contribute five thousand dollars in property tax. He didn't listen and kept of babbling BS down the phone. I then asked why I should contribute when I've just been laid off and don't have the opportunity to retire at 50. He started babbling BS again so I told him to go **** himself. This is a scam artist. There's no way a decent charity would just babble on. My advice is to tell them to go **** themselves. Even if this is a real charity I don't get people collecting on my behalf. Why should these cretins be able to ring us in our homes? I'll decide what charities I give to. Right now charity begins at home.

Have received calls from this organization regularly over the years. This male voice usually asks for me by name. I have had some really pushy individuals in the past. Usuaally the talk to me like I'm their best friend. I have had them hang up when I would start to explain that I do not give my credit card over the phone. This last time I gave him the no credit card rule and told him to mail me a statement. After receiving it I decided to look these guys up and found this site. I do not plan on making a donation and never will.

I wanted the website and would not commit to a pledge, I wanted to research it and maybe donate online. He was asking for business-level pledges of $150 down to $75, supposedly the minimum is $25 and you cannot donate online? I looked at the website he finally gave me, that's not true. The business he was calling, we closed years ago.

Anyway, I was saying something and he hung up on me. I might have actually donated to wrap up year-end tax deductible donations. But now they will never get a dime. HOWEVER I will pledge $150 but not pay it, every time. If enough people do this and endure the harassment afterwards, the mailing costs will run them out of business.

Is it really WAFOP??? A charity that gives very little to the cause???

Two years ago, they were a "vietnam veteran's" drug education program. They would ask for my wife by name (sorry, not here) and they would call back over-and-over again until I got nasty with them.  Last year, they were a "fire-fighter's memorial."  They called twice daily (according to my CID logs on the computer) until I told her she was dead (she's not.)  Now they are either the POLICE MEM FND or the FOP MEM FOUND and have called at least two-dozen times since April from 425-437-0640 360-547-1900 253-275-3600 206-866-1920 206-682-0415 with those IDs.  Today, they asked for my wife, I asked who was calling, they said the FOP Memorial Fund.  I told him we seem to get a lot of calls from different memorial funds.  He said if she wasn't there he could call again later.  I said, no, tell me more about your organization.  Do you have a website?  He said, that's ok sir, have a nice evening. (CLICK)  S-C-A-M-!  But if you found this site, you already suspected such.

They called me last month. Didn't pick up, they left no message.

Although a local exchange, unknown number.  I get so many unidentifiable calls on my cell phone.  I think it is the same jerks calling (funny - ha, ha) but just change the phone number calling from.  I have stopped answering numbers I do not know.  The wierdest and most annoying number to appear on my cell screen was 999-999-9999!!!

Received call today from 206-682-0415.  Same blurb as above, very rude, asked to be removed from list and person hung up.

This call is NOT originating from the Fraternal Order of Police.  It is a scam.  The FOP does not do this type of telephone solicitation.

Caller said he was from the Fraternal Order of Police. Caller ID shows FOP MEM FOUND. I said that I am not interested and he quickly replied with "well, we can call back some other time then." Click, and he was gone.

Just got a call (Friday, May12, 2009 at 2:49 pm) - I googled the number after the call and found this site.

The caller started by asking is this Suzie - I was expecting a call so I said yes - The caller then stated his name was "Brian" and spoke very quickly that I missed the name of the organization - He went on to talk about the police and said, "don't worry you're not in trouble" - Talked about the work that the police do and how they give "unselfishly" to society - he was very quick and I knew he was going to be asking for money/donation.  When he asked if he could count on my support, I asked him the name of the organization again and he said it was the Fraternal Order of Police - I asked if the local police would know about him and his organization and he stated, "uh, huh" which I interpreted as in the affirmative - He then wanted to mail me something and I said that I do not do anything over the phone as I could not verify who he was - He said that if he mailed it I could read over the information and know that they are a genuine organization - I told him that I was much more comfortable going to my local police station and speaking to them about how I could help them - He asked me again if he could mail the info and I said "No".  He asked if he could call back in 6 months and I said,  "No, I'm not comfortable to have you call me again"  He thanked me and hung up.

Thanks to everyone who gave their information about this phone number and experience - I think I  will be more assertive (and be better prepared) the next time I get a call - I'm a bit annoyed that I didn't ask how he knew my name

Receiving calls from 206 682 0415. From FOP. I keep telling them, not interested and they keep calling.

Got a call from this number and I said 'Hello". A man's voice said "Is Linda there?" I replied 'Linda who?' And then heard the same voice saying in the same way "Is Linda there?" (Obviously a recording). Then click and a dial tone. Weird. I have gotten calls from FOP in the past and told them to remove me from their list (I'm on the national list as well).
Haven't gotten a call from them since I told them to remove me. Not sure if it was them today or not.

addendum:  Decided to call the number to see who answered. Just heard repeated busy signal.  Probably one of those robo-dialers that calls thousand of numbers and then sells the ones that got a human answer to a telemarketing clearing house.
I had placed my home number & all of our celphone numbers on the National Do Not Call Registry (https://www.donotcall.gov/) 4 years ago, but since then had changed service providers twice.  In the small print it says you may have to resubmit your number if you change providers ...which makes ZERO sense to me as it's the same number(have had it for 20years!). So resubmitted my number on list. Says they have 30 days to stop calling.  We'll see :x

1st Call received on 5/12/09 - heavy breathing.  2nd call received on 5/12/09: I say "hello" and no answer, only distant sound of radio playing in background.  *69 traced the call to 206-682-0415.  These phone calls were alarming and harrassing.

Received a call this morning at 9:45am (May 11,2009).  Caller ID showed 682-0415 "FOP MEM FOUND". When I answered, the caller hung up.  Used the reverse directory and found the phone number is not listed anywhere

Called my number.  Hung up when I answered.

didn't answer - left no message.
