also just wanted to note that if this is the same "donation" people calling they may make up a story... ask them to send you information packet. i guarantee you they will give you a reason not to! When I asked they said that they don't receive profits and it would take away charitable money to mail me stuff. seriously? just hang up. it's scam.

I advised the SCAM caller that the police and firemen have HANDSOME BENEFIT packages, especially if they"re injured/killed in the line of duty (or otherwise). Furthermore, there is no need for people who are unemployed, or on a FIXED income to be subjected to deceit/lies.

They take a block of numbers say 206 425 starting with 0000 and just start going down the list numerically.
I don't know who this is but I recevied a call from people saying they represented the Pierce County Sheriffs Possee and I asked them not to call back and the guy actually said "I will call you again anytime I want to".  Kind of felt uneasy about that remark

From what I've read, it sounds like this is one of those "charitable" programs that pockets almost all of the money, but because they donated two cents to where they claimed they were supporting, they still get to call themselves a charity.

If you call the number they have an option for you to chose and remove your number from the calling list.  They said it can take up to thirty days.  Worth a try.

Telemarketer
This is a telemarketer from the Fraternal Order of Cops supposedly wanting my assistant to guarantee that if they sent out a decal we would donate.  If I have money to donate to the police, I will take it down to the police station and give it to them.  I hate people like this

The only way you can stop these calls is to take the number and forward it to a different one. Whatever you want and your phone number won't ring.  I like to use 911 with multiple scammers/spoof callers if you block them they only spoof do a different number but if you forward they still think it is an active line and have no reason to switch the I.d. number. I know this is a scam because it is illegal to solicit any type of phone call (donation or not) after 8 P.M. I believe the legal hours are 9 a.m. To-8.p.m It's time to put a stop to this. I hope more people will Start using call forwarding as it's free. Use the pawn stars number from las vegas they like to rip people off as well.

The Federal Trade Commission would differ with that lame excuse for continuing to call you. Charity calls nearly all come from a commercial fundraiser. These hired call centers are expected to honor an internal no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and ''the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000.'' They are also covered to a point by other regulations for telepests, so you can kvetch about abandoned calls, bot calls to mobile phones, and so on.

In a comment from Nov 2012 linked below, find the simple steps I took to rid myself of a major pain boiler room by politely rubbing its face in federal laws. You will note that I never rely on verbal cease-communication demands.

Just so you know what kind of resistance you face, the "C4C" mentioned in prior comments is short for Corporations for Character. Like its industry peers, C4C runs away with most of the money collected and the intended benefactors get peanuts, assuming the "charity" is not itself a closet profit enterprise.

In May 2011 C4C was named in a FTC lawsuit with two other Utah firms, all sharing the same ownership, for consumer abuse and deceptive practices and generally bending the Telemarketing Sales Rule. C4C later countersued, crying between the lines about how the Feds were disrupting its dubious business model.

They call me EVERYDAY.  I've asked them to stop.  They say they don't have to because they are a charity.  If these people are the police, who am I supposed to call to stop the harassment?

Just received a call from this number 11/18/2012 - He said he was from the Fraternal Order of Police wanting a donation. I said fine I'll donate. Then he wanted my visa number. I refused and told him to mail me something. He didn't ask for my address or even ask to verify an address they have for this number. We'll see if something actually comes in the mail.

All they want is a donation to the police academy or something like that...you know to help the community more.  It is strange they don't leave a message but they its want to know if you would be willing to donate money any amount would be fine and if you say yes the ask for your address so they can mail you a letter with an envelope to send money to them. I've received 2 calls from them.

My husband donated to this organization once about 15 years ago and now they won't leave us alone. I've asked them many times to take us off their calling list and they won't do it.  They tell me that because they are looking to speak to my husband they don't have to listen to my request. Well I'm the one who pays the bills and write the checks so if they want any money they need to talk to me!

Oh seriously?  It's that FOP place again?  UGH!  They call several times a year even though in the past we have told them to stop and take us off their lists.  They called here on 9/20/2012 at 7:52 p.m.  I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message.

I just called the actual Washington Fraternal order of Police in Kennewick. They work with a company called C4C (I forget what the acronym stands for) that handles the calls during their pledge drives. The nice person on the phone told me that if your Caller ID shows "C4C" at the beginning of it, the call is from an authorized representative of the FOP. Just FYI. AOK, 10-4, KTHXBAI.
