Just wanted to let you know that I did get a call with this number showing the other night from a doctor at University of Washington Medical Center - where our son had been admitted...glad I answered!

Since most of us or Alums of UW or past contributors, we could call the UW Foundation and complain. That would likely stop the calls, because they are trying desperately to regain their lost endowment funds (most university endowments lost 25% last year, due to the stock market).

Caller phoned my house asking what my current mailing address was - I asked him what address they had on record and they gave me an address that was from years and years ago in another state.....I had surgery in February at the UofW, so thought it was about that...but now I wonder...

We get these calls, also. We've never answered, but they've never left a message, either. I tried, just for the hell of it, to call them back just now and got "we're sorry, the number has been disconnected" message, so they are totally bogus as far as I'm concerned and I hope breaking some law(s) too. What a pain in the neck. I'm going to complain to the UW about it, maybe that will get some action.

Why can't our phone providers allow us to block these calls? It should be very easy, from a technology viewpoint, and not expensive. I suppose it's a racket, all in the game...

Whoever call me from this freaking number must stop. I've been receiving phon calls from this number every single day including weekend. I never pick up because I google it and saw all these comment. This MUST stop or I will call the and report it. Such a scam...

I also got a call from this number around 8:30 on Monday 11/3. I am a UW alum as well.

This is not a scam, but super annoying to get a call at 9am on a Saturday morning.

I just got a call from this number, I picked it up because although I no longer live WA, I do keep in touch with a few people in Seattle.  When I said hello, no one said anything.  I won't give money to the UW because one, I can't afford it, and two, they have enough much money.  One week I get some something from them bragging about how much money they have and the next week I receive a solicitation to donate.  I'd sooner give money to a small liberal arts college or a community college where they actually need the money.  Don't get me wrong, I think I received a pretty good education from the UW - but if I had to do things differently in terms of the majors I selected to complete, I would've.  My criticism is that I don't think I was advised well from the academic advisors or the career development folks.

I have been receiving calls periodically from this number (206-897-1116) for at least 6 months.  They never leave a message.  Be careful -- from the messages this looks like someone has a scam going for money.  Someone must have a UW grad list of some sort..  How can this be stopped?  Should the police be notified at this point?

I get calls from this number almost once ever week. i never picked it up tho.

I got called at 6:38pm on 9/16/08 and solicited for cash because I recently graduated from UW, I presume. Very annoying. Get me a degree that's worth $ money before you tap me!

i got a call from this phone number around 8pm pacific time.  I also received a call from this number a week ago around the same time.  I did not answer but my parents did and the person would not even leave their name or say why they were calling.  It is very annoying and UW needs to stop it. I am not even in the pacific time zone so when they called it was the middle of the night for me.

I'm getting calls from this number about 4 or 5 times a week - usually around 6:00PM Pacific.  So annoying.

Called twice in one day. I never picked up. It makes sense. I'm a recent grad from 2007. Isn't it too early to start calling already?

Got a phone call from this number on my cell phone - an unlisted number.  The call came through around 8:30pm on a Tuesday night (5/27).  I didn't answer and no message was left.  I'm a UW alum as well...

Someone called me from this number On March 12, 2008 at 8:33 p.m. asking me to make a donation to help the Harborview Medical Center "community".  When I stated I could not afford to make such a donation, the young(?)male caller said he would call back when I could better afford it!  I told him I had other priorities and would never choose to make such a contribution, and we hung up.  I have no connection with this "community" and later wondered why I would get a cold call and whether this was some scam.  I am on the do not call list and consider this call intrusive, and am annoyed that the caller did not just accept my first statement to him without further what I consider to be aggressive tactics (persisting to say he would call me when I could better afford to donate).  For all I know someone in this office is using this phone to conduct a scam.  I am a disabled senior.

The way UWMC is set up is any calls from any office within the medical center will show only one main number and it will show up as University of Washington on the caller ID, this goes for Harborview as well.

I got one of these calls too - on Sunday night (April 6)@ 8:30PM Central.  Very annoying to get such calls on Sunday evening at home on my private phone line.

Called tonight at 8:53 pm (Eastern daylight savings time). Since I went to UW, I figured it was a call from the alumni beggars, until I read this page.

Same here - got a call last night (4/20/08), twice and they did not leave a message.  The second time, I figured we'd do a call back look up (*69).  And this was the number we got....
I am a '99 UW Poli Sci grad but.....

I've received two calls from this number to my cell phone. First at 6:00 pm on April 8 and then at 6:08 pm on April 20. The caller didn't leave a message. I am also a UW alum...

Received a 2nd phone call from this number April 23rd 6:50 PM. 1st call was April 17 7:25 PM. Didn't leave a msg. Call back of course stated UW private line... Something must be done.

I've been receiving calls from this number since about last November. They never leave a message and for some reason I don't ever seem to be around my phone when they call. I want it to stop!

I have been getting calls from this number too, 4 total. All different times of day and different days of the week. They never leave a message, I try to call back and all I get is an automated answer. I'm getting irritated by it...obviously, I did google it afterall. I am a UW student but this is absurd...leave a message!

Caller hung up when answering machine picked-up.  I am a long-time UW donor, though not an alum (former visiting faculty).  I'm do-not-call listed since day one.  This sort of nonsense gives a good university a bad name.
