I got this call as well. All the same info as the above people gave. Decided to check it out online and found this - thank God! I don't even have the money they request in order to get the $9000. Could have really used this.

I almost believed this scam, some guy with what sounded like a middle eastern accent told me I qualified for a $9000 grant. Being a college student that sounded so frkn great, $9000 to help with my nursing career funds. So he gave me a number (206-923-9681) to call to speak to his supervisor and person in charge of the grants Caroline. Well I called her just to see what she would say and sure enough she told me exactly what she told all of you. I had to get a green dot paks card and put $210 on it sorta like a security deposit, but I would get it back with the $9000. So I hung up the phone and I looked for a website that would tell me if it was a scam and sure enough Caroline Thomas is a $9,210.00 scam that I would of almost fallen if it weren't for my boyfriend who told me to do some research first, I would of probably lost $210.00, money I would later need for one of my college books.

hi,  just got the sam phone call  government grant,  yadayda,  9000.  gave me a confirmation number ID  WG112,  and to call Carolyn Thomas @ 206 923 9681.  Did not do this as I knew something was up and it was definitely funky,  but my husband heard me and thought it might be a phone scam to use your number to call timbucktu and talk for hours on your dime.  Then i freaked out.

I got a call from that # and said I would receive 9000 dollars, but I need 2 get a green dot card and put 210# on it and they would put 9,210# back on it, that was bank transfer fees. I told them if they giving it back, why pay it. No thanks.

got a call on my cell today from Sam Davis (447-800-0000 was the number that showed up). So Haji, I mean Sam, informs me that because I haven't claimed bankruptcy and have paid my taxes over the past year, that I, along with 17,000 people, were each getting $9k in grant money.  Yeah--- right!  He said he was calling from the US Grants Department in Washington DC.  Just like the other complainants on this board, he gave me 3 options, my visa card, my checking account or via cash (western union).  I only have to call Carolyn at 206-923-9681 and give her my confirmation code of SR1204.  Thanks, but no thanks.....

i got dat same cll and was told 2 cll carolyn thomas who n the hell gonna pay $315 to recieve a grant that belongs to them then want u to send it through WU a bunch of scammers then she said if im not comfortable wit it them she will give it to another cller i told her give me the name of the bank and sh started to use all kind of profanity i told her she madd dat she cant get no money from me. people watch out for this lady and the this # 206-923-9681 the name is carolyn thomas she is a scammer

All incoming phone calls saying you are getting a grant are 100% scams.
The government NEVER calls anyone to solicit grants.
The ONLY way to get a grant from the government is to use their portal. http://www.grants.gov
If you have applied for and are approved for a grant, you NEVER have to pay ANY fee for the grant funds.

They call from a Washington State area code then claim they are from Washington DC. They also say the 315$ is to cover expenses to verify who I am at Western Union. I use WU alot and have never had to pay to pick up money only pay % if I send money. When I said that to her (Carolyn Thomas) She said that if I didnt feel comfortable sending in the $315 have a good day.   SCAM

I got a call today from a man who's accent was so think i could only understand half of what he said. He told me to call his manager Karolin Palmers. I would like to know how they get out numbers and information.

I was told the same thing on Monday 2/17/2014 when I receive a call from Caroline  that the Govment was giving out. 9000 dollars to people who payed taxes on time an that to needed to pay 310 dollars in order to receive the Grant money

i receive a call from phone# 473-507-7016 saying that i was approve for a government grant the lady is no even american call came from granada said that i should call caroline thomas at 206-923-9681 she would give me the details and after explaining about the grant she ask for a security deposite of $320.00 and after i give her the money western union will give me my grant of 9,000.00 plus the 320.00. can anybody stop them from cheating people out of their money.

I just recieved a call from a guy accent is horrible he says I was chosen by the government to receive a 9, 000 $ grant be cause I pay on time (my bills) sayin I don't have to pay anything back an also I they may ask for a deposit how would I like to receive my claims but debit card credit card or western union I said western union won't be gettin my info jack a** then gave me a claim number to call his accountant agent you guys are fools for trying to scam if its free money I nor another shouldn't have to make a deposit of anything...anything sent threw western union the person sending pays a send fee I'm not paying a recieving fee b*tches

Fake grant call. They offer u 9k but wanted $320 upfront.

i spoke to the same lady today and told me the same thing and to bring 220 dollars cash to a western union office

I got the same dammed s*** phone call today. They called once and I hanged up on them and the second time I picked up and a man started talking and telling me  that I've been picked for $9000 cause I'm not a thief, drug dealer, robber, ect... And I said ok that's sweet! So They asked me how Do I want to receive the money is it by credit card, debit card ect... So I said I wanted it by Western Union. They said ok and they gave me a code. And the told me to call this freaking number and that was "Thomas" so she's the financial accountancy manager! So I called her so she told me that I have to give $220 to send her this money so that I could receive my 9000 grant. And I said that why don't you just take the $220 from the $9000 your giving me and she said that they are not suppose to and not able to touch the that money. I told her that I have cash and she said ok. And she said that when I'm  at Western Union to call her. So tomorrow I'm going to wester union AND I'M GONNA PLAY THE GAME!

I got the same call, as everyone else , was told about 9000.00 grant to spend any way that I want , I would have to send in a process fee of 310.00 first  while talking to Caroline Tomas  , then I would receive from Western Union , witch was my choice 9.310.00 while staying on phone with her . I didn't feel comfortable with that . I'm waiting to see if this isn't a scam !

I just received a call about being picked to win money from the government and to call Caroline Thomas 206-923-9681 to get the money.They guy's accent was so off that it took everything in me not to laugh!!!!These people are creeps/crooks and there is no way in hell that the government will contact you like this!!!!People don't fall for it!!!!

Yes, all the same happened to me.  I live in SD.  Received the first call from a man who's accent was so bad I didn't understand barely a word, and I usually have no problem with accents.  I did call the number he gave me and a message said something like, "not available now, please leave a message" so I did.  Got no call back.  Then called right before their office was to close, I guess, because the lady, "Caroline" who answered, and also had a slight accent, said that their money payment systems were shut down for the day and to please call back in the morning to receive money.  I have not called back yet.

I was called from  Beatrice saying that I was qualified for a grant from the government for 9,000. I was asked If I would like it to be in cash or put into my bank account. When I asked for a check they said that too many people had complained that they were not receiving their money, and that they were no longer able to do a check. I then said that I would not do the bank account but I would go to Western Union. I was given a code and given Carolyn Thomas; the supposed supervisor's number to call if I had any questions. I then decided to have some fun and call Carolyn to see how they were getting my phone number and address, which they disclosed that they had at the first call to me. They stated the government was going around and giving out the information so that they may call 17,000 people that qualify. After asking again what information they had the phone call ended from this low life. FYI don't mess with the military! The other number that is the first caller is 203-923-4781...this will be the initial caller.

I just hung up from speaking with a guy with a foreign speech from this same number. 206-923-9681. He Told me the same, that I was picked by the gov't to receive a $9000 grant to do whatever I wanted with. Then went on to say that all they ask is that I spend it wisely! I chose to have the money sent to me via Western Union in lieu of giving out my info. He then gave me the above number to call and ask for his mgr., Carolyn Thomas. I knew it was a scam when he said that I was picked because of my paying my bills on time!! I DON'T HAVE A JOB, AND HAVE BEEN PAYING LATE ON MY BILLS WHEN I COULD!!!  I did not and will not call this number and I suggest that you don't either!!

A man with a foreign accent called and said that I had been selected to receive a $9000 US Government grant.  He told me his senior manager was Carolyn Thomas and that her number was 206-923-9681.  I didn't understand him all the way, but now realize he had told me to call her.  I did not call.

A man named jack called 10/21/2013 as d he is from us grant department I was selected to recurve a grant for 9000.00., I was told to call Carolyn Thomas. At 206 9239681. I was told to give get a grant number. I google the name and some lady from a domestic, violence org. Came up and was at shot in face by ex boyfriend and mother killed.
