Called, didn't lave message or anything? Never seen this 44 before a number..Anyone know?
| neil 2011-06-06 20:42:23 Unknown |
Went to voicemail.
Never identified themselves. Recorded message offering me a chance to lower my interest rates. Said it was my final notice. Asked to press 1 for more info or 0 to stop receiving notifications.
Whats a +44 number anyways? Is that a country code?

+44 is the UK
207 is a block the gov't has partitioned off for 'nomadic' numbers, ie voip and the like.

Recieved a call from the same number today. I missed it, so I didn't get any information. This appears to be a scam

I received a voice generated phone call about two hours ago from 44074047678. I pressed one to talk, and a man named Richard answered the phone. I asked him what his company's name was. He kept saying, "Are you interested in getting your credit card's APR rate down 6 percent." I replied, "I would like to know who I am speaking with before I do that. He said that it didn't sound like I was intersted. He said that he is in connection with my credit card company. The man had a British accent, and assuming that the 44 was the international code for England, I bet it is a scam from England.

THIS IS A SCAM.
IDENTITY THEFT.
DO NOT GIVE ANY!!! INFORMATION TO THESE SCUMBAGS.
THEY DO NOT WORK FOR ANY CREDIT COMPANY- WHEN YOU ASK THE CALL QUESTIONS ABOUT THEIR SO-CALLED COMPANY, THEY HANG UP.
It is a scam.
Be careful!

just got the call... it starts out "Hi, this is Heather", calling about my ccard account and saying I have to press one to speak with someone. Pressed 1 and some guy answers, "This is Richard and I see you want to lower your interest rate. I broke in to ask who they were and the guy says, "I can tell by the tone in your voice that you are not interested... CLICK....

The 44 denotes an international call, specifically the UK.

I just received a call from 442-074-047678 on my cell phone. I didn't answer it and they didn't leave a message. My boyfriend and I have had similar numbers with extra digits call our cell phones ocasionaly over the past couple of weeks. Area code 207 is from Maine. This is frustrating.

call from 44-207-404-7678. took me a minute to find the number (excluding the 44 - anyone know what that is?)
I tried calling out from my office, rather than my cell, as my office number is hidden behind a general number. I dialed 207-404-7678 and a man answered. I said I just got a call from this number, he said not from this number, no. I believed him.
I looked on my phone log and the number said 207-4047! I tried to re-dial the entire number 3 times. It connects and rings after dialing only the seven above.
Anyone know who this is?
