They called me too and I know that they are trying to scam people.  Don't give out your information!  You can't call them back and they keep calling you - this is ridiculous.  If asked to deal with a magaine company called Omnipresent - say no!

Got a phone call from a woman named Stephanie.  After asking for me and when I asked who it was, she promptly hung up.  Later on when I called back, I received a voicemail and the inbox was conveniently full.  Funny thing is, when I had initially answered, "Stephanie" said she was from a legal dept.  When i called the number back, they were "Customer service".  Scammy.

Hello!
Back in 2006 i subscribed for magazines with a company called Omnipresent Inc.  <--My account with them was terminated and all my magazines were paid for in full in regards to the 2 year subscription agreement that i bought into back in 2006.

NOW........December 4th 2008 i received a phone call from someone named Anthony from National Magazine Company with the phone number of 207-669-4204 ......asking me how my magazines are and that i am on a 5 year subscription. I told him that i have no more subscription and i dont know what he is talking about. He was very rude and unprofessional on the phone and when i asked to speak with his supervisor he said "no maam you deal with me"...so i asked him what information he has on file and he was reiterating old info that anyone can get from public records. He then said that the credit card that he has on file will be charged with the rest of this 5 year subscription.  I asked him what credit card it was and he said he couldnt tell me...I laughed and said "wait you cant tell me my own credit card?!" he told me the last four digits of the credit card of which IS mine. <--of one that no longer exists however the expiration date on the card isnt expired yet even though i cancelled that card right after the original magazine subscription was paid for. He called me 2 times today and a total of around 6 times this past week.  I found the original 800 number to Omnipresent Inc. (<--the magazine peeps who i signed up with in the first place) OMNIPRESENT INC. 800 NUMBER IS: 800-264-4380 xt. 503 (it redirects you to that customer service extension). Now when i called and spoke to the woman on the phone she said that i was not the first person to call her with this situation and that he is a fraud and there is a scam. OMNIPRESENT INC. (from what she told me) will never sell your or send your info out to any other 3rd party subsidary agencies for any reason.

I went to my local police and filed a report. OH BY THE WAY.........this man when he called tried to ask me for my social security number as well...I happened to be at work and i have been having health problems and i was having a bad day so i told him he will not get any info from me and this afternoon when he called again (today being the 8th of december) he threatened to take me to court for the money....so i told him to take me to court so i can shove his magazines up his a** sideways in person! :D  I went to the police and filed a report, checked into all my REAL credit cards for scams and ID protection and i went to my bank to put an alert on my account.  Im covered on all bases and i hope that everyone reading this does the same and protects themselves from these kinds of people.
I hope you found what i wrote to be informative and good luck with your disputes!!!
***Note*** when the guy (in my case it was a guy but whomever) calls you DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION AT ALL!!! THEY HAVE WHATEVER INFO THEY HAVE WHICH IS PUBLIC RECORD....THEY ARE GIVING YOU YOUR OLD INFORMATION BACK AT YOU SO YOU WILL GIVE THEM YOUR NEW INFORMATION!!! DONT DO IT IT IS A SCAM!!! Thanks and happy holidays to all! :)

Does anybody know how to get rid of these guys?   I paid these guys off a year ago and now they want more money for magazines and say theyre going to start billing me again.  They have no right to do that although they think they do.  This is a magazine scam company.  I called the guy a theif and hung up on him.  I hope i dont ever hear from them again and theyd better not charge me or turn me into collections.

I, too, have been receiving calls from this number. In fact, just prior to doing this I received one; I did not answer. Previously, though, I have spoken to a person who stated the same about the magazines, me still owing like 60 months. I told her the same thing, "I've paid those off 2 yrs ago, you are NOT getting any more money from me!" She then told me,"Well, we will just take the money from your account ending in 1234!" (which I already closed) I am closely watching my bank account though, in case the bank links the old account to my new. I'm not sure what to do to eliminate that risk. Thanks for sharing!

I had the same kind of call, when I get to talk to the supervisor and refused to give my credit card number, he then asked me for my checking account number. When I refused again, he insulted me a couple of times and hang up.

I tried to call back to tell them to stop calling but the number didn't go through.

no the only way u can get scammed is by being recorded and u were not by the sounds of it, they already know ur info like add and stuff u have to tell them ur credit card number to get scamed and they dont use it to bill u unless you have been recorded and gave the permission on tape that they could debit mmoney from ur account...so ur in the clear... i used to work there, didnt like so much so i quit... but i know everything about em so nothing to worry about k

Do you have the 1800 number still?  I'm blocking them to my account and going to the BBB website right now to look them up, along with the Federal trade commission.

It was National Readers Service(NRS) The same thing happened to me right after I turned 20. They scammed me by saying I could win a Mustang or something and I agreed, next thing I know they charge the "first payment" to my account. I realized I couldn't afford this right away and called an 800 number that posted to my account to "cancel" They gave me some BS about not being able to cancel it for a minute and I insited they do. The woman agreed finally and I heard nothing for a LONG time, about 6 months I think. Then a few days ago called me and asked if everything was ok and did the same thing they did before. I told them I didn't have an account with them anymore because I cancelled it. They gave me more s**t about not being able to cancel, I was soooo mad. They transferred me to a "Level 5" supervisor. I was straight with him and he apologized and said he cancelled it. Then they call me again this morning... wow, I was mad. I told them I cancelled it. They read me my card number and said I owed them the money still. They transferred me to the "Main Supervisor"  She said she couldn't cancel it and that if I didn't have a "cancellation number" that I couldn't prove it. I got livid. She said if I didn't want to pay she'd send me to collections. I kept insisting that I cancelled it and that I'd recieved no magazines anyways. She said she was going to transfer me to "billing" at the end of all this, and I could hear laughing in the background. She then hung up after she said she would transfer me. I then checked my account and had a charge on there. You can imagine that I'm very unhappy, but I don't know what to do... they have all of my info, and people on here have already reported them, so WTF do I do?

Same as above.  I have gotten bullied into this scam.  They used me as PREY because im only 19.  The 1st time they called and I got signed up for the magazines I was dealing with a sick child and wasn't really paying attention.  Before I knew it they had my checking account number and had taken 60.00 out.  I opened a dispute with my bank against them, got my 60 dollars back.  They called me yesterday saying that my account had been placed on hold because i owed the 60 bucks that they " pre-subscribed" for me.  To me thats their fault.  Anyway I'm trying to file a complaint with the BBB (Better business bureau) but don't remember the name of the company.  All i have is this phone number.  They called today and REFUSED to let me get out of the subscription.  Told me all they could do is lower the rate to 49.90 a month.  Feeling pressured and cornered, I agreed and they got me on their little recorded filing thing saying YES.  Going tomorrow and changing my account number at the bank.  If ANYONE can tell me the name of the company please e-mail me at LNmauldin7@aol.com with the phone number above in the subject line so I know its not SPAM.  This has severely upset me because I am a young mother and cannot afford to just take my magazines and let it slide.  Thanks everyone.

Ive been getting this call as well. About 3 years ago I had given them my old card number because I was interested in getting magazines. I paid my full total last year and remember specifically that I had paid my full amount 5 months ago and confirmed it verbally on the phone with them. However the last couple of weeks I have been getting the call again. When I was transferred to the supervisor she informed me that I must have been mistaken about fully paying off my account because I still had 60 payments to go!!! I then asked her to mail me a bill and she kind of side stepped that and asked if she can verify my credit card number which Ive thankfully cancelled.

I then asked her if there is a customer service number that I may have as well as a mailing address of theirs. She wasnt able to give it to me since she said she was "fairly" new.

I told her I wasnt paying until I get a bill in the mail, customer service number and their address so that i can check them in the better business bureua and file a complaint. This has to be a scam.

I am receiving calls from this number. They are a BIG-GREAT nuisense. I think the woman on the other end is mad. After reading these complaints, I asked her never to call me again and hung up. This woman had the cheek to call me two more times. I just disconnected the phone. I am sure this woman is a psycho or into some scam. I suggest that all you harassed people out there just give this woman a piece of your mind when she calls again and hang up on her. I tried calling back this number and got a message saying that the number had been temporarily disconnected.

I am really tired of this caller. Someone should do something about this. Such scammers are a big nuisense. I have been receiving calls from this number at least a couple times a day for the past week. I do not answer numbers that I do not recognize. The person actually left a voicemail yesterday, but I don't think they meant to. Sounded like someone was singing. After receiving another call today I tried calling it back but got the recording stating that the number was temporarily unavailable.

i got the same call today at 5.10 and im not sure if it was jamie but it was the same thing that happened to CONCEREND, but when i started talking to the supervisor i tiold them i was done paying for the subscription 6 months ago, and then she told me that i had another 36 months to go.  SO i told her that i paid it off and that i am in the military and that im not going to pay them again and then she hung up. But then she called me back a second later, and then she told me that she was going to lower my payment  or if not i was going to pay full price and then i told her that i wasnt going to pay it and that they dont even have my account number so then she told me that her supervisor is gonna call me to discuss the situation and just hung up.  so im scared on what could happen with the information they got from me ( except SSN/Credit card number)

I received a phone call at 8:51PM EST from a female whose name I did not catch. She told me she was calling about my magazine subscription and told me that she is calling back customers who have sent in complaints about their subscriptions. I have indeed left a message to the company that is sending me my magazine subscriptions so I (stupidly) bought right into this.

She told me that she had just started working there just a few days ago and that she didn't understand the codes for the magazine titles so that she couldn't read them back to me. I told her it was alright and asked her if she could transfer me to someone who knew what they were doing because I want this issue with my magazines resolved. She said to me that she would transfer me to her supervisor but that she needed to ask me a few questions first.

She asked me, "do you still live at..." and stated my previous address. I told her no and gave her my current address. Then she asked me my age, what I did for a living, what company I worked for and how much I made in a month. I answered all but the last one. She then asked me if I was alright with the amount I am currently paying a month for my magazine subscriptions. I answered her "sure!" and told her the amount and she sounded confused but said "uh yes, yes."

She then told me that she was going to pass me on to her supervisor and to please verify with him that she was friendly with me. I told her I would "absolutely put in a good word for her" and she thanked me and transfered me to a man who picked up the phone and said my first name. I said "yes" and he asked me if the girl was friendly with me and I put in a good word, like I had promised. He then asked me what was the problem that I was facing with my magazine subsciption and I gave him a brief summary of all the problems I have been facing with my magazine subscriptions.

He then said "oh okay. Hang on just a second." - Click.
As I was holding, I realized that the phone had hung up as soon as he said that.

When I tried calling back the number, it said that the number is "temporarily unavailable".

I believe I was just scammed.

Does anyone know the harm they could possibly do but knowing that type of information?

They did not ask me for my Social Security number or my Credit Card number... I wouldn't have given that away. But I am afraid as to what they could possibly do with the questions they had just asked me.

Someone, please respond to this by leaving a comment on here.
It would be grately appreciated. Thank you!
